News 2026 MXGP calendar: 19 events confirmed for a season of giants

Motocross riders race during a Grand Prix

The saga surrounding the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship calendar has finally come to an end. Infront Moto Racing has officially confirmed that the season will feature 19 Grand Prix events. The slot initially reserved for April 26 has been canceled, sealing a race schedule that already promises to be historic due to the density of its lineup.

A tight but intense calendar

Initially expected to feature 20 events, the 2026 Motocross World Championship will ultimately consist of 19 rounds. This slight adjustment does nothing to dampen the excitement surrounding the return of the series. The kickoff will take place on March 7 and 8 under the Patagonian sun in Bariloche for the Argentine Grand Prix. This spectacular track will serve as the first judge for a caravan that will then travel the globe to crown the next kings of the discipline.

MXGP: Clash of the Titans and Colors

The premier class has arguably never been so competitive. After a 2025 season that saw the established riders confirm their supremacy, 2026 promises to be a year of major transition. Several top riders are changing teams, adding an element of uncertainty and suspense.

Among the contenders, "veterans" such as Jeffrey Herlings, Tim Gajser, and France's Romain Febvre will have to face a hungry young guard. Maxime Renaux, back to his best, and Lucas Coenen's meteoric rise in the top category promise epic battles every time the gate drops. We will also be keeping a close eye on Tom Vialle, back to reclaim the world title, as well as Andrea Adamo and Kay de Wolf.

MX2: The manhunt is on

In MX2, all eyes will be on Simon Längenfelder. The reigning world champion is putting his crown back on the line with the clear goal of doubling his tally. But the competition is fierce: Liam Everts and Sacha Coenen are hungry and aiming for their first world title.

The French contingent will also have some serious contenders in Mathis Valin, who is ready to shake up the hierarchy. Between the Reisulis brothers and Camden Mc Lellan, the new wave of talent in MX2 promises non-stop action and unrelenting intensity.

In line with 2025

The 2026 season builds on the solid foundations laid in 2025, when consistency was the key to the final standings. As a reminder, last year's battles showed that the title is not won solely on pure speed, but on the ability to stay on your wheels for 19 grueling weekends.

The opening round will take place in Argentina. Stay tuned to MotoPlanete to follow the rankings and reports from each Grand Prix.
