presentation of the VB1 1000 Evo 2004

the VB1 was presented at the Paris Motor Show in '99, for Voxan Boxer Numéro 1 (the association of designer Thierry Henriette and the Auvergne factory). It was a success.

its compact, R1-like face has an irresistible look, and with 4 headlamps at the front, it's enough to captivate any admirer. Ultra-low bubble, carbon scoops, sharp-edged fuel tanks and a pointed rear saddle highlight the twisted exhaust system, ending in 2 large-volume silencers located under the saddle - just like a certain Ducati 996! Borrowing from the big boys, this little marvel aims for the same criteria. However, the Frenchwoman is different in one respect: even if its engine is powerful, it's not a racer.

the excellent Voxan V2, the same as the Café Racer, is castrated by the exhausts and the excessively long gear ratio. On board, it's uncompromisingly sporty: the seat is high and hard, you're leaning forward, with handlebars and wrist straps tucked under the fork tees. Once underway, the rider must not hesitate to use his body to accompany the machine through the switchbacks, as it is rather steep in its changes of angle. Like all characterful cars, this one needs to be steered hard. As far as sensations are concerned, this hybrid suffers from homologation constraints, limiting sporty driving to muscular winding rather than arsouille. The V2 is as enthusiastic as ever, in fine form from 6500 to 8000 rpm. Based on a Voxan Café Racer, the VB1 is French style, high standing on a noble base.

in the opinion of users, the VB1 is closer to a work of art than to a motorcycle, with which you have to put up with a few star quirks; it's absolutely unbearable in everyday use (position, noise and infernal heat from the pots).

this 2004 version is equipped with the EVO kit, a few parts that boost the performance of the twin from Auvergne and improve its reliability. On the program: new management and electronic control unit, injection diameter increased from 45 to 54 mm, new camshafts, modified cylinder head casting and new wiring harness.
