presentation of the CB 125 R 2021
Make no mistake - the new CB 125 R looks just like the 2018-2020 version. But as with identical twins, the differences are as real as they are hard to discern. For the smallest Neo Sports Café, that means a new engine and new suspension.
This bike is a CB 1000 R in miniature. Same type, same presence, adapted to the size of the Cub Scouts. The little curmudgeon was fed up with his engine, borrowed from the CBR 125 R. For 2021, he wants his own block, possibly more modern, so as to have a more convincing CV. He needs it. The competition is far from gentle.
This mono has twice as many elements in its cylinder head: 4 valves and 2 ACTs, for better breathing. Its internal dimensions are less oversquare (57.3 x 48.4 mm instead of 58 x 47.2 mm), its compression ratio is higher, and the airbox and resonator have been redesigned. As a result, the CB 125 R II's engine is 1.6 horsepower more powerful, for a maximum of 15 hp (within a hair's breadth of the segment). Torque has also improved, with an additional 1.2 Nm delivering a total of 11.6 at 8,000 rpm. With this more peppy mill, the CB is better armed in a category where the offer has become much denser in recent years. Kawa and Suz have returned to this segment after years of abstinence.
With its design clearly setting it apart from the trend, the Honda can now treat curiosity with its pedigree. At less than 130 kilos fully loaded, it is one of the lightest 125s on the market. A Katoche or a Yam is 5 kilos lighter. As for the chassis, the little CB offers a new argument. Its inverted fork is now a 41 mm Showa SFF-BP, with large internal pistons and separate functions - a technology that arrived on sports bikes less than 10 years ago. More efficient and offering greater feel, this is the first time this model has been installed on a 125.

The weight is up by 4 kilos; is this due to the new engine or to Euro5 adaptations?
The level of quality is more refined, with a gold-bronze finish on the forks, rims and crankcases.
Beneath this facade, neither neo nor retro but a little of both, the bike benefits from technological inlays that are sure to hit the mark. Digital instrumentation and a bulging headlight enhanced by rows of LEDs. It's still all there, but the next generation will have to switch to a color TFT display to avoid being left behind in the high-tech stakes.
Frugal, the roadster claims to make do with just over 2 liters to cover 100 kilometers. With 10 liters in the belly, a full tank should take you well over 400 km (according to the figures provided). The reality will be a little less. But the range will still be excellent.
Honda continues to keep its tough little roadster in the 125 class. The CBF lacks the necessary punch; the CB 125 R is there to crack shoulders. The battle goes on, with each manufacturer having its own slingshot.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 21 reviews
If anyone has an explanation for these noises, which I've never experienced on any of the other bikes I've ridden (over 50,000 km with my SR), thank you. I'm happy with this bike in terms of handling and so on, and I hope Honda will take my request seriously. To answer Finette's question, the CBF is the right name. I had the same surprise when I received my registration, so don't worry about it. Rating : 3/5 Participate in the conversation
- A fairly high driving position, allowing good control of traffic and good anticipation (much more so than in BARs) - Comfortable, 200 km outing on it with no pain anywhere - Garage maintenance every 6,000 km, inexpensive - Average fuel consumption of 2.6 L/100 for me.
- Of course, I'm thinking of the A2 very, very soon, but this CB125R is really pleasing and safe, and I see it as my "accompanied driving" period at 15 hp before the 47 hp to come. Rating : 5/5 Respond to job31
My fuel consumption is under 2.5 l/100.
I sometimes take the freeway home on a whim; for short distances it's perfectly feasible, but a bit tiring because of the noise and vibrations.
I also use it to do "gymkhana" type exercises in a parking lot, to get the most out of it. The ABS works really well, you can brake forwards and backwards without a second thought, and the bike stops in a really short distance (compared with other bikes I've known, in any case). With a little practice, you can further shorten the braking distance by braking optimally to delay ABS activation. Rating : 5/5 Respond to tt66
you're not selling it?
Thanks

It's my only vehicle for getting to work. 70KM round trip in all weathers (2600km on the odometer on January 23). It's all departmental road and a little bit of communal road, all through the Landes de Gascognes nature reserve. I had a SW-Motech crash-bar and SW-Motech fog lamps added, to get a better view of the wild animals that abound in the area, and a givi windscreen to reduce my exposure to the wind. Many people turn around when they see it go by, and my friends and family compliment it (matte black color) and find it hard to believe that it's a 125
Riding it is pure pleasure. Very maneuverable, economical (3L/100 at 90/100km/h), responsive with good acceleration even at low revs, a 6th gear that's really usable, an engine brake that saves on brake pads, and a riding comfort that makes me feel really good. I'd taken it on with the idea of taking the A2 in a year's time, but for the moment I'm giving it up, because this bike fits me like a glove
If you're not sure, give it a try and get ready to crack! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Méduli
I do a lot of city riding and a dct would be an alternative to a scooter for me. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Gil
i'm waiting to see a real test bench video and see what it's like with the 15 hp 2021 model (new engine with 2 more valves!)
i think it'll be more powerful, plus a gear ratio correction, which should make it a good 125 cm3, in any case better than the old version
More torque too!
But it's all on paper. I'm waiting for a real video test of the old one, and the 2021
would be ideal
2.5 l or 400 km with its 10.1 Litre not bad! (data for 450 km to be seen? ) Rating : 4/5 Respond to Naple
