Motorcycle specifications Kawasaki1400 GTR 2011 The flagship has a green thumb

presentation of the 1400 GTR 2011
imposing, powerful, rewarding, the 1400 GTR had propelled Kawasaki into the world of the big tourer with panache.... or rather, brought it back into the segment where the 1000 GTR once proudly carried the green flag. But this Tour de France icon didn't evolve at the same pace as the Germans in this segment, leaving the RTs and then some Japanesemodels (ST 1100 / 1300, FJR 1300) to conquer the market.
The new GTR comes out in 2007 with some hard-hitting arguments: aluminum frame and ZZR 1400 engine, Tetra-Lever swingarm made up of 2 double articulated arms, and various electronic features worthy of a Bavarian sedan. The tone is set, as the1400 GTR presents itself as a Superpsort Transcontinental.
kawa hasn't slept on it - the GTR is, along with the ZX-10R, its technological flagship. The manufacturer has given it a facelift, along with new equipment. The Grand Touring silhouette has been slightly refined, although this is no easy task on such a liner. The right-angled panels of the fairing have become more supple, offering more room for curves and a greater diffusion of heat escaping from the radiator. The hoof has become a near-perfect triangle, ending in an integrated deflector, offering additional protection for the feet. Just behind, the junction between the exhaust pipe and the muffler is covered by a new, more stylish cover. Criticized during our test ride, the windscreen has been increased in size and is now electronically adjustable. For hand comfort, heated grips are now standard, and we can't forget the 1400 GTR's extras: keyless start system, tire pressure control, variable valve timing, ABS, 12 V socket, cardan shaft, glove box on the tank, 14 mkg of torque underneath and... Ah?!? Kawasaki has added new equipment:
on its top-of-the-range tourer, Kawa inaugurates KTRC, its first traction control system. Providing better rear-wheel control, this system will not be outdone when the bike is navigating on greasy terrain during the cold seasons; enough to avoid a few cold sweats.
Also installed is K-ACT, 2nd-generation coactive assisted braking - the rider has 2 possible choices of braking management depending on riding style and/or conditions. And, as the environment is currently in vogue, the GTR is equipped with an eco class... In fact, an eco driving mode: an 'Eco' indicator on the dashboard keeps the driver informed of fuel consumption. But it can go even further: by engaging the 'green' driving assistance mode, the engine management system automatically modifies the fuel injection map, giving priority to fuel efficiency.
in the match between Germany and Japan, rivals such as the K 1600 GT and 1400 GTR have entered the technological arms race. Bavaria has years of experience, Akashi the means to match its ambitions. The evolution of Kawa's flagship should amaze long-distance riders, while demonstrating the company's know-how. Now, how will the new equipment affect pricing? Let's not forget that even in this category of motorcyclists, the wallet has been looked at differently for some time now.

i haven't found an answer to my questions about the gtr1400's accessories
my dealer tells me it's because of the 106 hp bridle, so I have to upgrade to 156 hp Rating : 5/5 Respond to SAMOUSSAS
i'm having problems with my on-board computer. It's displaying "con...ies": low tire pressure when the pressure has been applied, low battery, low transporter battery when both have been replaced. Can anyone help me? Rating : 5/5 Respond to jean mich
All in all, an excellent bike...
On my GTR14 (2007/O8 and current Km 82.OOOkm), for the "weak tire transponder battery" problem...
i only changed the 2 batteries (10/12 EUR) of the tire pressure sensors and the problem was solved !
At the beginning of the 1st year, I replaced the cardan shaft and Fr Av discs (under warranty), which were quickly replaced by "Galfer" discs more suited to my bike and my braking style.
Radiator also replaced, punctured by de-icing salt, (what an idea to ride all year round!) I do more km in winter than in summer... (I'm not a summer kéké)
Excellent bike, when in its original configuration and with klk small accessory upgrades.
Average fuel consumption is 6.5 L/100km (could do less, but don't want to).
Question? Buy again? Yes, probably.
Shame to have added so much useless electronics to the new GTR14s.
In the meantime, as long as it's running at 11 rpm, we'll be on our way!
PS: I do my own maintenance, /- Every 6000 km.
Tires and brake pads replaced every 10/15,000 km (for safety)

i've been driving a GTR for 4 years.
It now totals 42,000km with no particular problem, oil change every 12,000, original spark plugs and air filter and above all no service at 24,000 as recommended by the manufacturer (big financial scam).
i drive it every day, nothing but happiness!!!!!
Best regards

throttle lacking in progressiveness, seat height too high to be comfortable in tight corners at idle, ground clearance a bit low over speed bumps, truck with 75%-worn BT23s, position too much on the wrists (5 cm rise= OK), gets too hot in traffic jams, ridiculously oversized exhaust. Other than that, it's a great machine, with excellent roadholding and a feeling of indestructibility. Rating : 4/5 Respond to carpediem

Did you unbolt your kawa via a l\'ecu reprogramming?
Could you please give me the address of the garage that did it for you?

Front discs abnormally worn and changed at only 48000 kms! And cardan joint spy around 90,000 kms.
Apart from that, road 4 changed at 19,000 kms. Rating : 3/5 Respond to loupit
A motorcycle to be ridden calmly, if not, the weight will put your mind at rest
A good comfort with a seat adapted, only regret lack of auto suspension adjustment and cruise control it is possible to compete BM, courage Kawasaki still a little effort!!!! !
7 different machines, this is the last one, I'm really satisfied, but the dealerships need to follow the seriousness of the machine, and in this respect it's not easy.

Futuristic look...perfect engine...
I'm just going to change the front tire...at 18,000 km.
Normally...it should be changed at 15,000 km.
I rode a duo with 140 km on a highway...rain hail...very stable bike.
brakes...nothing to say.
You're welcome to discover southern Morocco ;) Rating : 5/5 Respond to Aziz
i have some problems with my 1400 GTR KAWASAKI concerning acceleration and deceleration accouts very unpleasant for the pilot and the passenger nobody speaks to me about it and yet all those that I try it make the same accouts I am going to resell it for this problem A Rating : 3/5 Respond to PAT66
However, there are a few things that could be improved:
First of all, the problem of accoutouts mentioned by PAT66. I have exactly the same feeling, and in the same way, I'm thinking of selling it because of this extremely unpleasant problem... I've had 3 1000 CBRs, a 1400 ZZR... I've never had this feeling on these other machines... being shaken like a coconut in traffic jams... on/off... not great
Another not-so-great point: the bike's braking behavior... effective braking, but quite dangerous in curves... (novices beware!!!)
Another point: the controls on the left-hand switchgear; the KTRC and KACT buttons are extra compared with a conventional motorcycle... great, but the horn button and the flasher button are badly positioned... to honk, you have to lift your palm slightly to press the button, and when you need to honk, you're more likely to be in a situation where you need to hold on to the grips...
On my 1000 CBR, it was more accessible...
Otherwise, what can be said... the discs: 2 KAWASAKI dealers warned me that the discs on this bike wear out very quickly in urban use (they said they had to change them once a year...) but so far (1.5 years), nothing to complain about...
I could have told you a lot of positive things... but you do that very well. Rating : 4/5 Participate in the conversation
Owner of a GTR for 2 months, (and many motorcycles for 30 years) I agree 100% with Pat66 and Eric91.
Pat66, have you solved these jerking problems?
For all of you on the forum, do you have any ideas?
Kind regards
Jeff

Last May, I bought the gtr with all the GPS comfort options
After 3000 kms, I'm almost completely enchanted!
Highlights:
- Unheard-of torque: it revs up to a quiet 5th gear from 50 km/h
- Passenger rider protection, overall comfort
- Very reassuring overall handling, even when fully loaded!
Weak points:
- saddle after 2 h of riding
- size ... But cars can be pushed. Which was not the case with the VFR!
- small chases on the corner if the surface is not perfect
Preferred terrain: national roads and freeways at good (legal) speeds... Nothing stands in its way, with the comfort of a Pullman, the power of a Formula 1 and the electronic equipment of an aircraft carrier! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Dpcuris
you have to try it to understand. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Frangen
i'm thinking of buying the GTR 14000. I'm currently using the varadero 1000. Is there a critical mileage and what are the points to check as I'm considering buying used? Thank you for your advice. Rating : 5/5 Respond to teddy
9000 km front and rear with outdated BT021s and 7500 km with BT023 rear tire, completely worn and deformed, even dangerous....The front is a BT023 Gt, impeccable..
I'm going to put a 180/55/17 T30 GT on the rear because, according to the professional fitter, it's the best compromise for this bike
To be seen in the coming months..

protected every day and without incident, because apart from a faulty front wheel pressure sensor, I've never had the slightest mechanical problem. You start the engine in the morning and it works the same way every day. Quite comfortable and quite reliable.
We can criticize the poorly positioned rear-view mirrors, which have to be systematically folded down to get between lanes, and the lack of a cruise control to relieve the right hand on long trips. Kawasaki France should really take this last point into account for its next model. As for the outside mirrors, if they could fold down electrically, I'd say thank you, sir. Come on, I'm going to change it again at the end of the year. Will I be able to use my Mr KAWA cruise control, please? Rating : 5/5 Respond to Feelgood
Thanks Rating : 4/5 Respond to Gilles
One year old ;17000 Km it's still a heavy car Be careful with emergency braking.
Comfort OK - Suspension OK - superb engine - protection OK
Attention Gabarie entre les fils
What I forgot without regret was the vibrations of the second cylinder.
what I regret now is the frequency of servicing
But when it's a damn good machine Rating : 3/5 Respond to métro
it's top-of-the-range in every way.
2 quick comments:
-When will France do away with this castrating clamping?
-for taller riders, handlebar extensions are a must on long trips (less on the wrists), but as a result, the bubble lacks height coverage. Rating : 5/5 Respond to di.bes
To sum up, I'm very happy with my bike.
I really like the freedom it gives me, the ease of riding (not at low speed... 300kg), the protection from the wind when I decide, and from the rain for my legs. In summer, heat is not radiated directly onto me, as with other bikes. The top case and side panels are easy to remove.
On the other hand, the eco function is a joke: 6L for a motorcycle is ridiculous (6L for 300kg?)
Among my criticisms, I'd also have liked a backlight for the thermostat (not easy in the evening and at night), and I'd have liked to use the handlebar trigger for headlight calls instead of a button that's not easy to access and not backlit.
Noise-wise, it's very quiet, a good point for the neighbors, sometimes a little too quiet, and I go into a lower gear to announce myself in queues. On the other hand, this big pot is rather ugly but very practical (noise).
The overall feel is great, and after trying RT (reasonable) and MultiStrada (fun toy), this is the bike I needed. Rating : 4/5 Respond to phano
This bike is more than a limousine on two wheels, its ride is supple and at the same time powerful on demand, its fuel consumption is more than favourable 4 full tanks for 1218km and without engaging the eco mode 400km in the mountains and the rest on the freeway, a hell of a bike with all its options. Rating : 5/5 Respond to majids bar
Beware, however, of the weight when maneuvering at very low speeds and when the engine is switched off.
Rating : 5/5 Respond to phil
I'm thinking of either the FJR or the GTR.
Big back problem herniated discs etc .... and I was wondering if it was supple in terms of comfort saddle etc ... when I'm on it at a standstill it seems pretty firm anyway.J\'aimerais ton avis sur le confort et prise vent pilote et passager.... à savoir pour la protection pilote je mesure 1.80

How do I activate the eco mode?
On my 2013 gtr, the glove box above the tank is vitiated and won't open. Rating : 5/5 Respond to momotard
for the "eco" mode, you have to hold down the button for the headlights with your left index finger. The "eco" mode then lights up the dashboard.
i haven't found the clock yet, but I'm working on it.
Happy driving! Rating : 4/5 Participate in the conversation
Kawazakiste since the dawn of time, I would like to complete
complete my review of 2/12 on my gtr 1400 model 2010.
The journalistic reviews of the 2007 model have
significant improvements, notably in the finish: wider fairing, hot air deflected or even removed from the feet... So ride in winter.
Would a GT only be used in summer?
Bullster bubble(Secdem)Motax hand and wheel deflectors (unavailable since this autumn)
Rubberized footrest extensions 7cms vertical
vertical and 3cms forward...(home-made)
These items are essential for those who want to
year-round comfort
Then there's the comfort of our little feet, with
heating grilles to complete the picture.
(or remove the lower engine gaskets
so as not to distort the original)
The perfect bike exists for everyone!

on this one, and the engine is still
hollow at the bottom, too bad...

Of course, compared with the competition, it has its minuses, and many pluses, but to decide which one to go for, you have to try everything out (including a duo!), depending on what you want to do with it. As far as I'm concerned, as much as the 2009 model turned us off (my partner and I), the 2010 model won us over...
NB: It's more for those over 1M80 than under...
The only thing you can't avoid is a high bubble...
After that, it's all in good fun (I do 20,000 kms/year) Rating : 5/5 Respond to AMa
Bear in mind: I'm 1m68 for 62kg!
1. Engine: lacks low revs. A handicap in town?
2. Handling: in traffic / or with the engine off? digging radius? easy to handle?
3. Retros: in what way are they badly placed / criticized? can't see well? or are they hooked all the time? both?
4. tires: premature wear? michelin pilot road 3? At what mileage should they be changed?
Thanks for your feedback! Rating : 4/5 Respond to xlafroggy
why the GTR 1400? You seem a bit too small to enjoy such a big bike unless you really use it. What are you looking for? Rating : 3/5 Participate in the conversation
You've understood my problem.
C\'est belle et bien pour tailler la route ... avec madame.
A few years ago, I had a GT Sport ... a good compromise when you drive a lot, hard and alone.
On the other hand, as soon as my sweetheart came along, it quickly became a pain: the position for her, but also for me.
My main concern with this nonetheless beautiful K is the seat height... \"not recommended for those under 1.70\" they say.
If the saddle isn't height-adjustable, the selection will indeed be made by itself... Rating : 3/5 Participate in the conversation

Great bike, I hesitated for a long time with BMW, I don't regret my choice on the 1400 GTR
more attractive, younger, with a much more virile exhaust system, BMW options included as standard, easy to handle for a younger biker, all that's missing is cruise control and reverse Rating : 4/5 Respond to dibes
