presentation of the 450 SX-F 2012
when it comes to pure power, there's no substitute for displacement. All that remains is to transmit that power to the ground. The 450 SX-F's top-of-the-range chassis enables experienced riders, even on the toughest motocross tracks, to transform the brute force of the new DOHC four-stroke into controllable traction. With its even more robust clutch, the 450 SX-F remains a true ace in the MX1 class.
engine
Ultra-modern and ultra-powerful, the 450 SX-F's single-cylinder four-stroke engine, with its twin overhead camshafts and four rocker-arm driven valves, boasts a very wide rpm range and enormous torque, all coupled with unbeatable performance.
exhaust manifold with HPRS
The 450 SX-F's super-lightweight titanium manifold, combined with the innovative HPRS (Header Pipe Resonator System) and the voluminous muffler, combines generous power with low noise levels.
frame
The modern frame of the 450 SX-F, made of high-quality chrome-molybdenum steel, is not only extremely lightweight and torsionally rigid. It also boasts a particularly well-balanced geometry that combines great manoeuvrability with formidable precision.
48 mm telescopic fork
The inverted telescopic fork has been further improved, featuring closed cartridge technology and a slightly firmer adjustment for even less bottoming. The WP fork with its 48 mm (1.89 in) tubes is a major contributor to the 450 SX-F's extraordinary handling.
clutch disc spring
The 450 EXC's new clutch, with its sturdy steel bell housing and gear-saving anti-shock device, uses a disc spring for the first time instead of the usual coil springs, considerably reducing activation effort. Hydraulic control allows sensitive modulation of the clutch.
electric starter
For years, KTM has been proving that an electric starter is a great advantage, even in motocross. That's why the 450 EXC-F can also be started by pressing a button.
