from 2009 to 2025S 1000 RR - firepower by BMW.

bMW has a long tradition of sports bikes, but the brand has waited a long time to take on the R1s, CBRs, GSX-Rs, Ninjas and others. In the 90s and 2000s, the brand had nothing to compete with the hypersports. In fact, it didn't fit in with its image at the time. But Béhème decided to transform itself, and the S 1000 RR was to be its competition workhorse.

starting from scratch, the manufacturer created a brand-new 4-cylinder engine embedded in a chassis copied from Japanese solutions (whereas BMW liked to develop its own, often offbeat, techniques). The first version hit the market with 193 hp - its closest competitor, the Suzuki GSX-R1000, produced 185 hp - and a direct entry into Superbike racing even before it went on sale. The S 1000 RR soon set out to conquer the world of Endurance racing, where BMW invested considerable resources, albeit with some bad luck and a lack of encouraging results. But the brand refused to give up.

the Bavarian hypersport evolves regularly, with a gap in 2015 when it reached 199 hp.

2019 will be a turning point, with the S 1000 RR knocking out the competition with its 207 hp. It also takes the opportunity to give itself an all-new, less BMW design. The 210 hp mark will be reached in 2023.

its even sportier version, a passport to WSBK, arrives in 2021 and is called the M 1000 RR. The S 1000 RR 2025 will also feature a headstock quite similar to that of the M.

the BMW S 1000 RR had to wait until 2024 for Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlioglu to finally win the World Superbike title.
