from 2012 to 2027Long rides on a big Versys.

This is the story of a Z 1000 that wanted to hit the road—for long distances—with the look of a trail bike. It thus became the Versys 1000, the only 100% road-oriented maxi-trail bike with a 4-cylinder engine.

2012 (Launch): Features the Z1000 engine optimized for torque. Riding comfort is excellent, but the front-end design (stacked headlights) was a commercial and critical failure.

2015 (The GT Turning Point): Successful redesign (horizontal headlights in the Ninja style). The chassis was reinforced to support heavy saddlebags, fully embracing its road-going purpose.

2019 (The Electronic Era): Adoption of electronic throttle control, an IMU, and cruise control. Introduction of the high-end SE version (electronic suspension, shifter, cornering lights, TFT display).

2021 (The Adjustment): Launch of the S version, which retains all the premium features of the SE but reverts to manual suspension to offer a more affordable price.

2025 (Successor): Replaced by the Versys 1100. Displacement increases to 1099 cm³ (135 ch) to meet emissions standards while delivering greater torque and smoother performance.
