dürkopp was a German motorcycle brand founded in 1867 as a manufacturer of sewing machines. The company began producing motorcycles in 1901 and soon became one of Germany's leading motorcycle manufacturers.
during the 1920s and 1930s, Dürkopp enjoyed great success in motorcycle racing, winning several titles and setting speed records. The brand was known for its fast, lightweight motorcycles, equipped with powerful, innovative engines.
during the Second World War, motorcycle production ceased and Dürkopp produced equipment for the war effort. After the war, the company resumed motorcycle production, but competition from major German motorcycle brands such as BMW and Zündapp made it difficult for the company to survive.
in 1958, Dürkopp ceased motorcycle production and sold its motorcycle division to an Italian company, which continued to produce motorcycles under the Dürkopp brand until 1959.
