- Founded by Alfredo Avello in 1940, the company produced machine tools under the name Avello y Compañía SL.
- From 1951, it manufactured motorcycles under license from the Italian company MV Agusta , with the names MV Avello and MV Agusta.
- In 1983, Suzuki acquired a 36% stake in the factory.
- In 1988, Suzuki acquires 100% of Avello, SA and changes its name to Suzuki Motor España.
- In 2012, Suzuki announces the closure of the plant in Porceyo, Gijón.
