in 1951, Iwata Machine Company Limited launched the development of a motorcycle. The B.I.M 500 was built from 1955 to 1960, on the model of the BMW R51/3. The motorcycle manufactured by Iwata Sangyo was built for around 6 years without any major changes. The B.I.M, named after the acronym of Takeshichi Iwata's predecessor and the M of the engine, was built by his three sons, Masasaku, Shichishi and Seizo.
the price at the time was 360,000 yen, which was higher than a domestic motorcycle of the same era, but not superior in quality.
