The Arnhem Grand Prix in the Netherlands was the scene of a memorable event for the EMX250 European Championship and the FIM WMX World Championship. Under a blazing sun and on a particularly demanding sand circuit, the riders put in performances worthy of a world final.
FIM WMX World Championship: Guillén snatches home victory from Van Drunen
The WMX category lived up to its promise, with a thrilling duel between local star Lotte Van Drunen and Spain's Daniela Guillén. In front of an enthusiastic Dutch crowd, the suspense lasted right up to the very last corner.
Race 1: Van Drunen imperial, Guillén in ambush
Lotte Van Drunen dominated the first race with disconcerting ease, taking the lead from the outset and flying to a solo victory. She crossed the finish line more than 18 seconds ahead of Daniela Guillén, who made an excellent comeback to take second place. Dutchwoman Shana van der Vlist completed the podium. The race was also marked by the early retirement of Lynn Valk, who suffered a leg injury after a fall.

Race 2: A thrilling finale
The second race was a real thriller. Kiara Fontanesi, Van Drunen's main rival for the championship, took the lead before crashing heavily and falling far behind. Daniela Guillén took advantage of this to take the lead, but soon saw Lotte Van Drunen back in her rear-view mirrors. The two drivers engaged in an intense duel, with Van Drunen multiplying her attacks in a bid to win on home soil. However, Guillén held his nerve and crossed the finish line just 0.159 seconds clear. This result, combined with his second place in the first heat, gave him his first overall win of the season.
Despite her disappointment, Lotte Van Drunen was able to console herself by increasing her championship lead from six to twenty points.
For Daniela Guillén, victory has a special flavour. I think it's very special to win here and to take my first overall victory," she declared. I got off to a good start, felt good, and kept attacking and finding my rhythm. I'm really happy with the result.
