presentation of the GSX-S950 2026

The GSX-S950 would not have appreciated attacking 2025 without a little more modernity, especially since its sister in 1000 chose to attack the year with a new TFT screen. This will also be the case for the 9 and a half, now equipped with a 5-inch color panel. In addition to displaying multiple on-board information, it can automatically or manually switch between day / night modes and notifies the driver of alerts and updates via pop-up windows. No other changes to report, except for the engine's compliance with the new standards.

the roadster has had a great run at Suzuki. With the Bandit, the SV 650, the GSR... For the past few years, it's been the GSX-S that's been defending the bastion. Particularly the 750 and 1000 , when it's time for a fight.

Now a newcomer has joined the family. Identified as a 950, it comes between .... Er, no. It doesn't come between the 750 and 1000 at all; it replaces the 750, nuance. Behind the robotic staircase headlamp, this streetfighter raises a few questions.

Pride in the pencil stroke? Extended identity? When you see the 950 GSX-S, you don't immediately ask such questions. Whatever angle you look at it from, it seems to be built in the same mould as the 1000.
And it is! Every part of the fairing, all the metal and mechanical parts, the back, the front and the bolt pattern all blend in with the big sister. It's reminiscent of the good old days of the 600 - 750 - 1000 GSX-Rs at the start of the millennium, when mimicry was such that recognizing each one was a matter of detail (stickers, fork type, swingarm reinforcement, etc.).
So, it's the 1000 with a typical mid-size name? Is it like the BMW F 750 / 850 GS, with the same engine but mapped differently? Suzuki is playing poker, with a very particular full house.

The name is misleading in more ways than one. And it's confusing if you look at the numbers alone. Let's start by setting the record straight on displacement. It's 999 cm3, exactly the same as on the biggest GSX-S - since they share the same GSX-R block. Bore, stroke, crankcase and materials are all the same. It's only the mapping that changes to enable it to squeeze 95 horsepower out of its innards.
That's where you start to get lost. 20 horsepower less than a 750 GSX-S.....? With a bigger engine.....? Alius and idem?
It's more complicated than that. Suz has thought about young licence holders, so the power is calibrated so that it can be limited to 35 kW. Where the 950 stands out from the crowd and justifies its positioning is in the high torque it offers users.

Whether in A2 or full throttle, the Nine and a Half delivers more torque and availability than the 750 in similar configurations. With 35 kW, it's 1.4 mkg more, obtained at just 3,250 rpm (compared with 4,000). The difference is even greater with 70 kW: 1.7 mkg with a 1,500 rpm advantage for the 950 (at 6,500 rpm). In short, the machine uses its displacement to deliver more steak with the same power. Side A: 47.5 hp and 7.8 mkg / Side B: 95 hp and 9.4 mkg.

Suzuki 950 GSX-S the brand thus offers a totally different choice from other bikes in the category, most of which opt for a hundred or so horsepower and a specific A2 version at the same time. But should we pit this GSX-S against a Tuono 660with the same power but less torque? Or an MT-09, more generous in watts but inaccessible to A2 riders. Well, the 950 GSX-S straddles the line between the two.

The fact that the 1000 and 950 share the same engine block, have an identical face and design, threaten before the rattle with a similar singularity, weigh in at exactly the same 214 kilos, exhibit the same dimensions.but that doesn't mean they're twins: the differences are there, but they're hardly noticeable, and they justify both the price delta and the efficiency on the road. Between the two is :
- Up&Down shifter / no shifter
- Fully adjustable fork / no adjustment
- LED turn signals / bulbs
- 5-step traction control, disconnectable / 3-step, disconnectable
- S-DMS with 3 riding modes / no riding modes
- Brembo brake calipers / Tokico calipers
- Blue calligraphy on LCD / white
- Different handlebar mounting

So, the info is in white on the speedo. Otherwise, it's the same LCD block. With a lot of information right under your nose. The discs have retained their 310 mm diameter, the fuel tank its 19 liters, and the wheels their Dunlop Roadsport 2 120/70 and 190/50.
As we've seen, the 43 mm KYB upside-down forks can't be adjusted, but the rear shock allows you to adjust rebound and preload. Incidentally, both the frame and swingarm come from the 2007 GSX-R 1000, the clutch is assisted and equipped with an anti-dribble device, Easy Start and Low RPM functions are included, and the 950 has been awarded Euro5 certification, whereas the 750 has not received this mandatory vaccination.

The Suzuki GSX-S 950 is waiting for the A2s to show them that you can have a firm foot and an inflated boot - even if you might initially think it's a deflated 1000 . It has all the attributes, but a very different personality. A surprise that requires curiosity to grasp its subtleties.
950 GSX-S... The 1200 Bandit of a new era?

Top bike, big torque, top chassis, 95 hp quite enough for me. on the other hand only defect rear suspensions a little seiches which can be problematic on the long distances. tried several adjustments but always a little hard Rating : 5/5
French Gigi Model 2025
After almost 1 year in 95 hp except the meter which is not top for 10000 euro perfect moreover I made him the stage 1 I am with 160 hp and 11.4 of torque why to pay 13000 euro for the same thing whereas that made me 700 euro thank you Suzuki to have made that been all is legal Rating : 4/5

Hi, are you sure this is legal? Rating : 5/5
French Dede
Yes, it has to be legal, they give you all the paperwork for it, so find out for yourself. Rating : 5/5
Legal or not, there are certain consequences (as in the days of the 100-horsepower law). Here's an extract from an information note from a company offering this kind of course: "The vehicles therefore, after the technician's intervention in one or other of these cases, no longer correspond to the original certificate of conformity and can therefore no longer be driven on public roads."...The owner of the vehicle must apply to the prefecture for a new authorization: he or she must send a request for authorization to the prefecture of his or her place of residence, which will forward the file to the DREAL, including a description of the modifications made to the vehicle..." French Serge Model 2022
Good evening.... Very clean bike...on everything....May be the 190 rear tire which is not essential, slight "wobble" at high speed because of the Puig windjammer (the highest) because to date March 2024, there are only 2 proposed, the small one which is useless the larger one which allows excessive speeds without great pressure on the torso, therefore to make leave the tubes of forks from 5 to 7mm Max of the tees (higher) and more "problems", see more manageable for me. 210 km/h max but very little time 210 km/h max, but in a very short time. Superb gearbox, very comfortable torque, powerful (don't trust it), impeccable braking, firm shock absorber, adjust. Precise tracking, faultless roadholding (S.22 tires), enough to really enjoy yourself, fuel consumption 6.2 in quiet mode, around 300 km, otherwise 7.8 to 8.1 L on the go, it's a real 4-wheeler, generous everywhere, very well made, even the noise, getting out of the A2 to go straight there isn't serious...but hey...!!! for the duo, not great, comfort depending on the state of the lumbar vertebrae, not bad. In short, 18/20. Rating : 5/5
Bonne moto
French Black Model 2022
Very good bike in full, chassis that doesn't move. Lower torque, good for winding. 0 to 100 in 3.6 sec and 220 rpm at vmax...(despite its 95 hp...) Rating : 5/5

Une bonne machine
French Gégé l’arsouille Model 2021
Who is this A2-compatible motorcycle for? Why can't an A2 be a real big cube? Suzuki has thought of forty-somethings who are taking up motorcycling and who don't want a small SV650 or other MT07 or Z650. In full 70 kW, it exceeds 200 km/h and its acceleration seems convincing, with a 0 to 100 in 3.6 sec. Rating : 4/5

French XL1200 Model 2022
On the other hand, to still have big bulb flashers, which have been fitted on svs since 2016, is really stupid of Suz.. Rating : 5/5
French nice-riders06 Model 2021
Having already covered 10,000 km with the gsx s 950 in full version, the torque is brilliant - it's the torque of a 1000 on a superbly prepared 4-cylinder. Even if the 95 hp are a little light from time to time, for riding mainly on mountain passes and winding roads, the power is more than enough to keep up with just about any other roadster, even with more power. Handling, caster angle and the ease with which angles can be changed, thanks to the chassis and overall balance of the bike, make it a two-wheeler that's as much fun in sporty mode as it is in cruising mode. I highly recommend the test ride and the comparison with the 1000, which seems much duller at low revs. Rating : 5/5
Peut convaincre
French Thomas Model 2021
For those who use the first part of the rev counter, this bike is perfect! I'm thinking in particular of commutes to and from work. Of course, it won't be the fastest or most powerful, but at that price you can't expect too much either. Rating : 5/5
En net recul
French Jeff2A Model 2022
I would have understood the GSX-S's move to 950 cc if it had been to bring out a model equivalent to the Z900, which also makes 950 cc but 125 hp...whereas this GSX-S only makes 95 and weighs as much as a truck in comparison..
A mistake that will pay off in terms of sales.
If it's to please the A2s, they'll get just as much, if not more, pleasure from a bridled SV650 or a 400cc GSX-S with 47.5 legal hp...
Rating : 1/5
French JEREM-ER6N-14
The target audience is A2, that's clear and not hard to understand... most of them sell on as soon as they get their full license, that's common knowledge, so it doesn't matter how powerful they are once they're unbridled, since the vast majority of A2s will change anyway...i've got an er6 A2, and I'm not planning on unbridling it for 72hp only (that's the case for a lot of motorcycles, "autoschool" motorcycles often...A2 motorcycles are for getting used to, and at worst not everyone's looking for absolute power (as a reminder, a motorcycle travels 3000km/year in France, so it's often a summer passion, not really a way of life)....the A2 market is in vogue, and manufacturers know exactly what they're doing, so they can offer the market a motorcycle that's appropriate and in line with their customers' expectations...taking into account budget, European standards, etc., etc...and why not add an "intermediate" motorcycle between one model and another...? why not...there's been the bandit, the sv650, new models are always needed, that's the principle...same as for telephony, TV sets...etc, etc.. Rating : 4/5
Interet?
French Jeff2A Model 2021
I find it hard to understand this approach, which consists in selling an A2 license holder a motorcycle of this price, which, once unbridled after 2 years of licensing, will be 20 hp less powerful than the GSX750S and even less than the GSX1000S from which it is directly derived? Apart from making the existing platform profitable
It would have been better to bring out a GSX400S or even a 47.5 hp SV400 (derived from the SV650), which would have been much lighter and more reactive, making it much more suitable for beginners.
In my opinion, this GSX-S hybrid (neither 750 nor 1000) is going to be a flop...

French Alain81 Model 2021
I like the Suzuki brand, but I don't like the 2 headlights on the front at all. I think it's ugly and I still prefer the front of the new MT-09!

I don't really understand this aesthetic choice ...
