presentation of the LC 1500 INTRUDER 1999
towards the end of the 20th century, during the massive custom craze, Suzuki threw itself into the battle of the big bike with the 1500 Intruder. Mechanically derived from the 1400, still with its air- and oil-cooled engine and universal joint transmission, this handsome beast stands out for its low-rider definition. Big wheels, imposing looks, respectable comfort... this machine is clearly inspired by Milwaukee's road bikes, and more particularly by the Harley-Davidson Road King. Destination the road. Preferably a long one, to take full advantage of the twin's power at all revs, without being overly powerful. The already high level of comfort can be further enhanced by the optional saddlebags and windscreen. The machine is more suited to the open road than to back roads. Weighing in at over 300 kgs and with heavy steering at low speeds, it doesn't make light work of small changes. Its other major shortcoming is its range. The twin-cylinder engine consumes a lot of fuel, and the fuel tank doesn't hold enough to keep it going over long distances. The bike is well-equipped and brakes well, but the gearbox isn't the best we've come across. The big selling point of the intruder 1500 is its attractive price; in fact, it's the cheapest big custom in its class.

On mine 2006, it's on the left-hand side, so you need to remove the fuel tank cover. Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation

I'm very interested in the VL INTRUDER 1500 but I don't know it
I used to have a Yamaha warrior 1700
Is it really different?
Is it a good and reliable bike?
And above all, how many km of range can you get without refuelling? Mind you, I'm talking about very quiet, respectable riding! I'm not into speed and racing
Thanks a lot! ;) Rating : 5/5 Respond to Slim shady

i would like to ask you if you have a technical book or magazine on the motorcycle because it's been almost 1 year since I bought this bike and would like to do everything myself
thank you

I have workshop and technical magazines in digital form in French and English. There's enough to fill a CD
If you're interested, maybe we can arrange for me to burn these and send them to you for the cost of a CD Envoi
Sincerely

My great pleasures: a real, full engine, a very nice noise, cheap maintenance, a "stripped" look that's said to be well achieved (no saddlebags or windscreen, but pots, grips, handlebars, saddle and mirrors changed for a few hundred Euros) and then... I can't imagine parting with it. I did try a Road King, but it seems much smaller. The only one that would inspire me would be the Kawa 2000, but in that case the price, given the details of the finish, remains an obstacle for the time being.
ps: no starting problems, I changed the original battery just a few days ago, after more than 6 years of good service. Rating : 5/5 Respond to pl78
After replacing the charge regulator (which apparently worked the wrong way round, discharging on acceleration), I had another breakdown and discovered a ground problem on the regulator
The offending wire went into the wiring harness, so we replaced it with a flying lead ground, and the regulator started regulating again! I hope it lasts!
NB: A simple way of checking whether the battery is charging: shine the light against a wall (or similar)
if the light level increases with acceleration. If it doesn't: the battery isn't charging. Rating : 5/5 Respond to N'BO
