presentation of the 660 Daytona 2026
Triumph is revamping the entire 660 platform. After the Trident roadster and the Tiger Sport adventure bike received a major power boost, the Daytona is following suit with an update. But since its cousins have snatched its engine, will it step up its game and flex its muscles?
Yes and no. The Daytona must remain A2-compliant. So, the 3-cylinder engine will still put out 95 horsepower. Triumph prefers to focus on the suspension, a crucial element and a higher priority on a sport bike.
A pair of shoes and legwork
The first thing that keeps you on the tarmac is the tires. The rims have swapped out the Michelin Power 6s for more aggressive tires. Its Metzeler M9RRs will provide a more assertive grip, very handy for a quick lap around the track.
And since you love sports, you’ll feel the need to optimize the front end. That’s good news, because the Daytona 660 “evo” comes with adjustables for its Showa inverted fork. A flathead screwdriver, a little experience, and the two screws on the left fork leg will let you adjust compression and rebound.
Hinckley has finally realized that a modern sport bike without a factory-installed shifter looks out of place and can quickly become a source of frustration. Once an option, now standard, this little foot-operated assistant will be instantly appreciated when navigating speed bumps.

On the electronics front, it comes with the modules already found on the previous 660, namely traction control, three riding modes, ABS… and that dashboard mixing LCD and TFT—unworthy of its class and something you wouldn’t even put on a 125.
You can spot the new Daytona by its new color schemes (the yellow is really nice, reminiscent of the 900 and 955i) and a new aluminum brake pedal. The overall design, however, hasn’t changed, blending restrained aggression with a taut silhouette that isn’t overly aggressive; as if it were showing the old 675 that it’s taking its place and targeting a different audience. Those into sport bikes, not Supersport.
Fulfilling the desire
Much of this machine’s excitement comes from its three-cylinder engine, its 95 horsepower, the 4/5 of its torque available across the entire rev range, its purring, and its natural verve. But… it would have been nice to see a more muscular engine, given that the Trident and the Tiger have caught up in terms of power.
Aside from the fork, there are no upgrades to note on the rest of the chassis. A tubular steel frame, Showa components front and rear, braided brake lines for greater durability and consistency. At the rear, 4-piston calipers bite down on 310 mm discs.

The only update it needed?
To stay in its class, yes. These small improvements will allow it to assert itself, instill more confidence, and inspire a desire to attack. Aiming higher, farther, or faster would mean changing categories. Like taking a Street Triple RX and grafting a fairing onto it. Not the same audience, not the same price, not the same demands. And yet, how many people think about that?!
