The market for helmets and intercoms often offers two paths: the meticulous installation of one's communication system, or the "all-integrated" option. With the launch of theOutstar 2, SENA confirms its determination to appeal to the second category of motorcyclists. This new jet helmet comes directly equipped with its communication system, offering a ready-to-use solution right out of the box.
Vlada Bokza, Motorcycle Marketing Manager Europe, SENA: "With SENA Outstar 2, we wanted to offer a simple solution for bikers who don't want to spend time installing an intercom. Everything is thought out, assembled and set right at the factory: they put on the helmet, press a button, and it works."
The Intercom: a concentrate of 2025 technologies
What distinguishes the Outstar 2 from its predecessor, the Outstar S, is the integration of a high-end communications system directly into the shell. There's no need to install speakers or run cables; everything is factory-installed, guaranteeing optimum integration.
Intercom takes a leap forward with the arrival of SENA's latest innovations:
-
Mesh 3.0: a major evolution offering a range of up to 1.2 km in open terrain, ensuring a stable, self-healing connection for groups. Already tested and deployed with SENA 60S.
-
Wave Intercom: The technology that enables unlimited communication and ensures compatibility with other brands, considerably expanding exchange possibilities.
-
Enhanced Audio: 2nd-generation HD speakers for richer sound, coupled with a microphone featuringAdvanced Noise Control (ANC) for effective noise reduction.
-
Autonomy and Intelligent Management : The 1000 mAh battery promises up to 20 hours of talk time. SENA also integrates Auto On/Off functionality to save energy in deep standby, and Safe Power Mode to power the headset via USB-C without charging the battery, thus preserving its lifespan.
All updates are carried out easily and wirelessly (OTA) via the SENA application.

SENA alternatives: modular and fully connected
The SENA Outstar 2 is the latest addition to the brand's all-in-one helmet range. If the jet format isn't for everyone, it's worth remembering that there are other options with integrated intercom directly from the manufacturer:
- SENA Outrush R4 (Modulable): For those who prefer a modular helmet, theOutrush R4 is priced at €301.51, and is currently being aggressively discounted to €180.91 on the official website (during Black Friday).
- SENA Outride (Integral): TheIntegral option is covered by the Outride, priced at €281.34 (currently on promotion at €168.80), offering maximum protection with the simplicity of an integrated system.
- SENA Phantom (Intégral Haut de Gamme): Finally, if bikers are looking for the highest level of integration and advanced functionality, the Phantom integral model is available at €523.36, representing the top of the range of SENA connected helmets.
These alternatives confirm SENA's strategy of offering an integrated solution for every type of rider and every type of helmet, from jets to high-end full-face models.
Conclusion: A gamble on the future of all-integration
SENA's Outstar 2 is an attractive offering for those seeking simplicity and the latest communication technologies without the constraints of installation. The level of integrated intercom (Mesh 3.0 and Wave Intercom) puts it right up there with the big boys.
However, integration does pose a crucial question of longevity. Since, for safety reasons (degradation of materials and performance in the event of impact), a helmet has a maximum recommended lifespan of around five years, this imposes the same limit on the intercom.
So the real question is: in a constantly evolving technology market, will the integrated intercom of 2025 remain relevant and compatible with future generations of technology (Mesh 4.0, 5.0, etc.) that SENA may launch between now and the helmet's end-of-life in 2030? At the end of these five years, the user will have to replace the communication system at the same time as the helmet, unlike a conventional modular installation which allows the intercom to be kept on a new helmet. This is the price of the maximum simplicity offered by "all-integration". The integration of wireless updating(OTA) and Wave Intercom compatibility (for multi-brand communication) are already positive signals that the helmet will be able to cohabit with future technological evolutions, at least for the life of the helmet
