As it approaches its half-century of existence—the Italian brand launched its very first leather glove, the Speed, in 1977—Spidi is once again refining its expertise in the high-end racing segment. An iconic model from the Sarego-based manufacturer since the late 2000s, the track glove is being reimagined for 2026 under the name Spidi Carbo Track Evo 2.
This third generation has a single goal: to raise the bar even higher in terms of ergonomics and safety for both competitive racers and track day enthusiasts.
SafetyLab Technology for Enhanced Safety
To develop this racing glove, SafetyLab (Spidi’s research and development center) drew upon its full range of cutting-edge technologies. The Carbo Track Evo 2 features a flexible cowhide leather construction (0.8 to 0.9 mm thick) while incorporating materials with very high mechanical strength in exposed areas.
Notably, it features Warrior technology, originally developed for the brand’s back protectors. Placed on the edge of the hand, the palm, and the cuff, these honeycomb-structured inserts absorb and distribute shock waves while promoting smooth gliding. The side of the hand and the outer side of the wrist—the first areas to hit the pavement during a fall—thus benefit from a particularly effective protective shield.
Carbon, Keramide, and Superfabric: the high-strength arsenal
On the back of the hand, the Carbo Track Evo 2 features a CE-certified carbon shell, lined with a shape-memory insert beneath the knuckles. This combination does more than just absorb impacts: it also enhances aerodynamics while facilitating gliding at high speeds.
To counter the risk of tearing and abrasion, Spidi didn’t skimp on reinforcements:
- Superfabric panels cover the palm and fingers.
- Keramide textile reinforcements combined with extra-thick leather panels strengthen the palm and edges.
- Specialized protectors shield the knuckles.
In terms of fit, the glove meets track requirements with a dual closure system: an anti-slip wrist strap and a wide Velcro flap on the upper cuff. The entire glove is certified to the EN 13594:2015 Level 1 KP standard.
Ergonomics and Handling Feel
Despite this abundance of protective features, the Spidi Carbo Track Evo 2 maintains a controlled weight of 400 grams. The Italian manufacturer has optimized the ergonomics around the hand/wrist area to prevent muscle fatigue during hard braking. Stretch leather accordion-style gussets have also been incorporated at the thumb to ensure a perfect grip on the controls.
