This is a major change in the world of motorcycle racing. The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) and Dorna WSBK Organization (DWO) have just officially announced the signing of a historic agreement: Starting in the 2027 season, the CFMOTO 675SR-R three-cylinder sport bike will become the official motorcycle of the Women’s World Road Racing Championship (WorldWCR). This marks a first for a Chinese manufacturer at this level of international involvement. (1)
The end of the Yamaha YZF-R7 era and a new technical direction (2)
Launched in 2024 in the wake of WorldSBK, the WorldWCR championship has established itself as the gold standard for women’s track racing. During its first three seasons (2024, 2025, and 2026), the competition was based on a single-make format entrusted to Yamaha. All competitors raced on a level playing field aboard the Yamaha YZF-R7 (3).
At the end of the 2026 championship, the three-tuning-forks brand’s involvement will come to an end, making way for a new engine architecture. Starting in 2027, the leaders of the pack will trade in the Japanese parallel-twin for the mesmerizing melody and aggressive power of the Chinese three-cylinder engine.
CFMOTO 675SR-R: A 3-Cylinder Engine Built for the Track
Developed in-house by CFMOTO, the 675SR-R is powered by a modern, liquid-cooled 675 cm³ engine. In its stock configuration, the engine delivers 95 chevaux (70 kW) at 11,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 70 Nm at 8,250 rpm. These figures provide a solid foundation before installing the dedicated race kit.
This track pedigree is no accident. The 675SR-R proved itself in real competition by competing for two seasons in the prestigious British Superbike Championship (BSB). It distinguished itself there by securing a podium finish in its very first year of competition, becoming the first Chinese production motorcycle to stand on the podium in this extremely demanding British championship.
Furthermore, its racing DNA stems from a joint development effort with the Spanish Aspar Team, CFMOTO’s technical partner in the World Grand Prix (Moto2 and Moto3). Valuable feedback from Aspar’s riders and engineers directly shaped the bike’s dynamic handling.
The WorldWCR: The pinnacle of women’s racing
Integrated alongside Superbike (SBK), Supersport (SSP), and Sportbike (SPB) under the WorldSBK banner, the WorldWCR brings together the world’s elite female riders.
In this one-make series, performance depends almost exclusively on the rider’s skill, composure, and bike setup. As the 2026 season draws to a close, the battle at the top is in full swing, as evidenced by the 2026 WorldWCR overall standings, which highlight the intensity of the action on every track.
A pivotal milestone for the Chinese motorcycle industry
The FIM and Dorna’s selection of the CFMOTO 675SR-R is part of a major industrial trend. In 2025, production and sales of recreational motorcycles with engine displacements over 250 cm³ reached 953,700 units in China (+25.87% year-over-year).
After winning the Moto3 Manufacturers’ World Championship title, CFMOTO is solidifying its international rise. To support this technical shift in 2027, the brand will deploy a comprehensive support structure at every round: supplying prepared machines, managing spare parts logistics, and providing on-site engineering support. A new era is dawning for the paddock.
