not one for half-measures, this Friday in August has been a day of extremes; I eject from the 400 CBX with uncontained laughter to make contact with a much more respectable machine. With its imposing yet classy aesthetics, and a charm sprinkled with nobility, the GSX is something to be admired before getting on it. Its size is impressive, and the first ride is handled with great tact and restraint. Then, unleashed by a Yoshimura line, the enormous 4-cylinder engine unleashes its power. Injection regulates everything, and idle is impeccable, as is throttle response. Off we go! From the very first revs, the anvil-like weight is forgotten, the beast takes off on a flick of the throttle, and handling is impressive. Magnificently supple, the mill enchants and sings, the gearbox is velvety smooth and the riding position most agreeable. I can't praise the suspension enough for comfort, but its effectiveness is limited when the pace becomes too energetic. But this is no GSX-R, and it's not designed for road or track combat. I cruise at 100 km/h at .... 3,000 rpm. Impressive. But the handle itches and the horizon clears! Clac, clac: I drop 2 gears, screw on the handle and...
bBBBRRRROOOOOMMMMMM! The GSX transforms into a dragster and the 4-leg becomes a Mig 28 engine. I hang on to the handlebars as best I can, because the power just rips your arms off - literally and figuratively! I decide to take a main road lined with red lights and intersections to get a good feel for the engine's take-off power. It's great. Every time it revs up, this Suz leaps out of the ground and graces you with sultry sensations; a mixture of vodka-caramel and catapult. Imagine a gigantic rubber band stretched to death behind you and released without restraint. At 3,000 rpm, it's already pushing as hard as a buddy's TL, and becomes diabolical as you approach 7,000 rpm. In the twisties, the respectable weight reminds you not to take too many angles. Although nimble, the successive, playful turns are not your cup of tea. Braking is in keeping with Suzuki standards: powerful (better, given the weight and power of the monster), dosable, but lacking a little bite. I'd like to add a special word of satisfaction for the mirrors, which are effective - unusual. The GSX 1400: a superb machine, with exhilarating power. Put this mill in a perimeter frame, a full fairing, take off some weight, and you get the best sport-GT in history!

I love this motorcycle; I’ve had one for a short while now and I’m really enjoying riding it as much as I love the way it looks :).
I have a question about a future modification for my 2007 model. I’d just like to know if an exhaust system from a 2001–2004 model (4-2-2) can be adapted to a 2007 model in terms of the mounting on the frame below the engine?
I’ve seen photos and videos of 2007 GSX 1400s with dual exhausts, so this must be possible, but I haven’t found any photos or videos showing how the exhaust system is mounted underneath the engine.
Thank you for your responses.

With ten cannons on each side,
wind at its back and sails unfurled,
it doesn't cut through the sea, it flies,
a brigantine sailing ship;
a pirate vessel they call,
because of its bravery, the Feared,
in every sea known

i've owned quite a few motorcycles, from the new kawa zzr 1400 to the gold 1800 GL and also some Yam 1300s. Frankly, when I got the Suz 1400 GSX, it was great, it's comfortable but not so much for long-distance riding, but it's still a great machine for daily commuting. Very easy to maintain Rating : 3/5 Respond to hamouta enrico
I've been driving my purebred since 2007, excellent value for money.
In 12 years, just one fuel pump, 800 francs with labour, otherwise nothing, apart from normal wear and tear
I've clocked up 120,000 kilometers, averaging 10,000 a year
We ride with two people most of the time, I do all the mechanical work myself, well, the little that needs doing, oil changes, forks, air filter, brake pads, spark plugs, etc...
Quit chain and tires, not me, too easy!!!
Voilà, voilà, very good bike, I expect to do 2 laps of the meter if all goes well
See you friends

Ridiculous fuel consumption for a 1400, range, comfort, reliability, etc., when I see people parting with them at such a low price, I tell myself that either they don't have room in their garage, or they're crazy! Gil Rating : 5/5 Respond to Gisix

Motorcyclist since...1976,
some fifteen bikes: 450 Honda, 350 RD Yam, 750 Honda, 1000 Japauto, Honda GL1100, 650 Bonneville, BM R100S, FJ1200, 2x 850 Norton, BM 1150 R, 900 Hornet and finally the sublime Gsx1400 K6.
In 2007 at Orca Rambouillet: I dropped off my 900 Hornet at the depot-sale and tried out a GSX, just for fun; I immediately fell under the spell of the engine (no hesitation, this is the one for me) and took it with me!
After 8 years, I can confirm c\'est extra une Gsx: in terms of riding pleasure and sensations (at low and medium revs; where it counts) all my previous bikes are simply...forgotten.

i owned a 2001 model for 15,000 km and was very happy with it. I had to part with it because of my divorce, since then I've ridden other bikes but I've come back to a 2006 1400 gsx, which is a real pleasure, and my wife thinks it's great and comfortable. Rating : 5/5 Respond to nono
I'm thinking of buying a GSX 1400 that already has 62,000kms. What are the mechanical points to look at when buying for such a mileage and how far can the engine go?
Thank you for your answers Rating : 3/5 Respond to Anthony054
si la moto a été entretenue et conduite normalement vidange tous les 6000 km avec une bonne huile et changement de filtre et respecté le temps de chauffe, moteur increvable se sont des moteurs simples, kilométrage ilimité plus de 200 000
if the bike is nickel, don't hesitate, and see if it's 100% original
voila

I've had bt21s and bt23s for quite some time now, and I'm very happy with them. I ride cool and do about 12 to 15,000km with a double front tire
They slip a little as the wear progresses, but I'm delighted with them Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation

i also have a 1400 gsx. I'd like to know if at this mileage there is oil consumption or not. is it a reliable bike? mine is from 2005 with 15000 km.
sincerely

I change the oil myself every 10,000 and the consumption in between is 1L of oil.
I can confirm that the fuel consumption is 5L/100km.
For the wind it is necessary to be equipped with a high bubble secdem deflector to run at 140 without fatigue.
jojo Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
Thanks for the reply. 157,000 km and everything is original, even the timing chain? oh boy......
it consumes 1 liter per mile or 1 liter between oil changes

I've been riding motorcycles for almost 40 years, always on a Suzuki, and for me, the 1400 is just what I'm looking for. I'll give my opinion on the pluses and minuses: plus, it's a sturdy bike (it's never been in the garage since 2002), comfortable, refined if it's equipped (boot, bailer, windscreen) and torquey - minus, it's impossible to put it on full throttle and it consumes too much fuel - apart from that, it's been the best machine for 40 years Rating : 2/5 Respond to did1400gsx
Exemplary fuel consumption 6.2L per 100
Very good handling

me, i prefer it in grey with a homologated nikko racing double pot (like ducati). a bubble on the same side (givi) and in front. on the other hand, what's so ugly about the bright colors and to think that it's this kind of color that's preferred by bikers! and what can i say about the 2005 colors except black! really no taste our jap friends. Sobriety please on a roadster, not the color of a sports car. Rating : 5/5 Respond to rudo
