Motorcycle specifications HondaDax 125 ST 2025 Under the sun

Honda joins the club of manufacturers who have accomplished a feat: time travel without convectors or DeLoreans. The result is the arrival in our dimension of the famous Dax! Teleported, modernized, revitalized and preserved at the same time, the one who also goes by ST shows the world what it lacks most: a smile and a thumbs-up.
not that of FB...... You've got to stop these co....ries. Honda's Dax (essential precision) had not set wheels in Europe for some forty years. In the meantime, a host of manufacturers had taken over the concept thanks to plans that had fallen into the public domain. Paradoxically, this kept alive the flame that the Imp had lit in 1969.
It was available in 50 and 70 cm3. Never in 125... until now. The single-cylinder engine is laid out in the same way, head down facing the road. Given that it has been nicked from the MSX and Grom, we know its ambitions and its innards. Air-cooled, one connecting rod, one piston, one ACT, 2 valves, Euro5, 9.4 hp and 10.8 Nm. Everything you need to have fun at the campsite, on beach roads and in cool corners. To control the 4-speed gearbox, an automatic centrifugal clutch takes care of the transition. All the rider has to do is use his foot, whether stationary or on the move. As a result, the left-hand lever disappears. Ah, a special feature: bottom dead center. Think about it. Not between 1 and 2.
A big part of the Dax's identity is its frame. With its intrinsic T-shape, the layout seems to have been drawn like a TV series song that's both intergenerational and impossible to forget. There is only ONE profile of Dax, anchored in time like the pyramids. The pressed metal skeleton houses the fuel tank, which at 3.8 liters isn't very big. Never mind, the ST isn't a tourer and it doesn't consume a dime.
The chassis has everything you need for an endearingly atypical beast: strangely wide tires for its size, but only 12 inches. This accentuates the toy-like look. A super-short 1020 mm wheelbase, inverted forks 31 mm in diameter, two soft-tuned shock absorbers, handlebars up to the elbows... It's just waiting for a good laugh.
Its silhouette catapults us back in time, just like a Polaroid. Except that the underside is very contemporary. On board the Dax 125, LEDs are everywhere, right down to the round headlight inlaid with a daytime visual signature. ABS takes care of the brake discs (one per wheel), and the speedometer is fully digital. It features the same chromatic choices found on the CB 500 and 650, with the appropriate sobriety for this type of machine. Honda provides space for speedometer, fuel gauge, trip odometer and basic indicator lights.
In addition to its perpetual chassis, the Dax has had the good sense to reinstate elements that are inseparable from its nature. Virtually every generation has had one. It's a joy to find its small wheels and thick seat like a beanbag.
On the other hand, the huge chrome cover to protect the air filter is new. The seat is just 775 mm high.
Why has the Dax adopted a dachshund as its emblem? Enthusiasts will have recognized a dachshund, only too happy to have wheels instead of paws. In the language of Goethe, this brand of dog is called "dachshund" - whose abbreviation is none other than dax. So there you have it, both the symbol and the origin of the name.
It's quite something. Honda is the only company to design both serious machines like the NT 1100, as well as top-of-the-range machines like the Monkey and Dax. Given the number of copies in circulation, it's as if he'd never left. Its return becomes almost natural. Except that before, you stored it between the tent and the caravan; now, it travels in the motorhome.

It's heavier and harder to fit in a car boot
I'd like to know the maximum passenger weight it can carry. Nothing is indicated on the Honda France website
