Motorcycle specifications HondaGL 1800 GOLDWING 2016 The ultimate ship

apart from a very slight facelift in 2006, the 1800 Goldwing had remained unchanged since 2001. The 2012 model hasn't changed much technically, but its pronounced restyling has given it a welcome touch of freshness. The Goldwing collection is now available in a two-tone color scheme - the revised fairing panels contrast sharply with the dominant hue. Two slender nostrils have been cut into the forkhead, and the rear end has been sharpened. The headlamp and bezels have become much sharper, right up to the protruding edge.
honda's enormous liner, the epitome of road refinement, is so confident in its bewitching 6-cylinder flathead that it won't touch it for its 2012 evolution. Who could argue with that? The GL 1800 prefers to focus on improving its transcontinental capabilities. The list of enhancements includes a new GPS with the ability to program and share itineraries online, iPod and USB MP3 connectivity, a new SRS CS Hi-Fi system and a newsRS CS Auto three-dimensional surround sound, a more comfortable passenger seat, readjusted suspension, reinforced wind protection, and increased luggage capacity (up to 150 liters). The new design of the rear section incorporates air extractors to reduce aerodynamic drag and enhance stability. In addition, new front and rear suspension settings ensure first-rate handling.
this Goldwing enters its second decade with eternal serenity. Manufactured once again in Japan, it's still a hefty price tag, but it's unrivalled in enjoyment, and imperially delicious.

goldwing history:
1972: the origins
A team of engineers was formed, headed by the famous Soichiro Irimajiri, the man behind the famous 5- and 6-cylinder racing engines of the 1960s. His team developed the M1, an ultra-secret prototype designed to explore the limits of the Grand Touring concept applied to motorcycles. The M1 already featured a 6-cylinder flat engine and shaft drive, characteristics that would be carried over to the Gold Wing a few years later.
1975: GL 1000 Gold Wing
The first Gold Wing was a revolution, opening up new horizons for long-distance enthusiasts. Powered by a revolutionary 999 cm3 liquid-cooled 4-cylinder flat-bottom engine, the GL1000 offered a level of performance and refinement never before seen on two wheels. From then on, Gold Wing owners were to redefine the basics of Grand Tourism, riding further and more comfortably than ever before, reassured by a machine that, from its earliest days, enjoyed a reputation for unparalleled reliability. In 1976, Honda celebrated this success with a Gold Wing "Limited Edition", while in 1979, the first Gold Wing production plant was inaugurated in the USA, in response to the fact that 80% of the machines produced up until then had been exported to that country.
1980: GL 1100 Gold Wing & GL 1100 Gold Wing Interstate
Where the GL1000 defied categorization with its blend of sporty performance and high-flying comfort, the GL1100 - the fruit of 5 years of user research - clearly positions the Gold Wing as THE GT par excellence. Its 1085 cm3 engine favors torque over power, while the extended wheelbase provides greater stability and more room for rider and passenger. Air-assisted suspensions set new standards in ride quality, while the Interstate version introduces for the first time the notion of a "turnkey" GT, with its full fairing, suitcases and original top-case.
1982: GL 1100 Gold Wing Aspencade
With the Aspencade, Honda adds the notion of luxury to that of Grand Touring. Original equipment abounds, including digital instrument panel, stereo system, CB and integrated air compressor.
1985: GL 1200 Limited Edition
1985 saw the discontinuation of production of the standard GL1200 (without fairing), in favor of the GL1200 Limited Edition, a complete machine with electronic fuel injection, audio system and a new, more powerful engine.lectronic fuel injection, 4-speaker audio system, cruise control, self-adjusting rear suspension, on-board computer and Gold metallic paint.
1988: GL 1500 Gold Wing
In 1984, a new team of engineers began work on the future Gold Wing. Their specifications were demanding, to say the least, since the new machine had to be better in every respect: quiet running, smoothness, power and roadholding. Thousands of hours were spent testing 15 machines and 60 prototypes, the most extensive development in Honda's history. The result was a luxurious 6-cylinder machine so accomplished that it would set class standards for over a decade.
2001: GL 1800 Gold Wing
After 8 years of development, the GL1800 carries the Gold Wing name even higher. Designed by Masanori Aoki's team, whose track record includes such landmark machines as the CBR250RR, CBR400RR and CBR600F3, the Gold Wing 1800 caused a sensation: "My job was to add more fun to the machine, to build a Gold Wing capable of the acceleration and dynamic qualities more generally associated with sports bikes," explains Aoki.
Bonne route à tous les goldriders. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Balou
I took advantage of it for a while on two wheels, and the difference is significant compared to my old 1800 from 2011. Simple to double with its free horsepower, what happiness.
For me, there will always be the problem of the center stand, because the baby has to be lifted, so when will this hydraulic or other system be available to lift it on its center stand?
For me, it'll be the last one at 75 years of age, now better for road safety, otherwise I've had a great time on two wheels, with its fast revs - only good stuff, thank you Honda! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Loug Avel fran
for those who hesitate, it's an investment at the outset (price of a new or used car), but with the same reliability, serious insurance (45â'¬/year comprehensive), reasonable maintenance costs, tires bought from a website, delivered and fitted by a dealer (250 â'¬ for the two original tires)

It's a pity that GPS updates are not available in France, especially for a 3000 â'¬ GPS

After spending 4 years on the 1500, today on the 1800 from 2012 standard model, what can I say about pure happiness, excellent handling, rider-passenger comfort, with reassuring braking! Yes, I often hear it said that Honda could have fitted an electric windscreen for the price (personally a useless gadget, a windscreen wiper would have been more welcome, the least well served are the French, other countries are equipped with them as standard! i've heard people say why they didn't do what BMW did on the LT, with the electric kickstand. Lean under the bike, I think it's already pretty loaded. Let's not forget we're on a motorcycle. I've been a Gold enthusiast for 40 years, and apart from this fabulous Japanese GT, no other competing brand has done better.
Now a personal opinion: l\ maintenance of this bike, goes without saying.
We can't drive around with a beautiful Mercedes for the price of a Clio...
If you really want to have this bike, you just have to afford it.
Gold enthusiasts, I salute you. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Gold\'s Friends

46 years ago, my first bike was a brand-new Honda 125SSA. Many other joys later, after Bmw k1200 lt. My wife let me have this latest baby: 1800 goldwing 2010, a pure marvel, a concentrate of refinement, for retirement... hey yes!!! it's hard to retire!!!!
Drive carefully, young people

First of all, congratulations on your motorcycle career, which reminds me of my own, except that my first bike was a Honda ss, but used 47 years ago, followed by many other bikes and a k 12 lt
And finally a 2009 gold 1800 bought in 2012 at 33,000 kms
Super bike
Bonne route à toi

I'm thinking more and more of buying this bike, but I'm wondering about maintenance (price, frequency of servicing and tires)
Can someone please help me?
Bonne route et prudence Rating : 5/5 Respond to momomaz
tires I do 13000
by doing 15000 per year you have to count with insurance 37â'¬ per month
for serious maintenance
salut bon achat Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
How can you afford 37â'¬ a month including insurance? No, that's impossible.
And the insurance I do not count (because it's personal it depends on many things) I want to know only the cost of maintenance

when driving the radio (the audio system) is mutt all alone I can not find the solution can you help me? Rating : 4/5 Respond to boulwinger
Comfort excellent but inferior to the 1200, radio reception mediocre antenna length exaggerated- very unpleasantly surprised compared to my 1200.
I had to buy an FM transmitter and an MP3 player to get something drinkable. the finish is all plastic. very fragile to handle. very disappointing for the purchase price. Even the electrical wiring is telephone wire. You have to handle your 1800 with care.
fuel consumption: don't exceed 120 km/hour! ! !.
This is a motorcycle for senior citizens.

This bike is made for riding with a passenger. My wife is delighted with the comfort and space in the back.
For the rider, the gold offers other pleasures too. The engine's flexibility and torque, perfect protection, roadholding and engine power provide the opportunity for dynamic riding.
Of course, ground clearance is limited compared to a European tourer, and braking is sufficient without more.
fuel consumption measured on the road, 6L/100 without dragging.
even at a standstill and provided you don't let yourself get carried away, manoeuvring isn't that difficult.
I don't regret my choice, and from a duo/touring point of view, it's certainly the best. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Fred

(radio and intercome conflict)
revolution too high 2350 turns per minute at 100 kmh excessive fuel consumption could be 900 turns less
apart from that, the door and comfort are excellent, making the competition blush. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Rejean
I've been a moto cab for almost two years now, but I don't think the Honda brand likes us very much.
It is however a good way to see the reliability of the goldwing.
100000 kms with the 2013 model great.
My new 2014 model is not as good.
I've had no speedometer lights for six weeks and the display doesn't work either.
According to my dealer, Honda has finally found the solution.
Repairs are scheduled for the end of the year.
But I'm still loyal to Honda. Rating : 3/5 Respond to aguila Moto

And as for the 5.5l/6l fuel consumption I'm quoting, it's just a fact of life (50,000kms on a 2008 model)... Rating : 4/5 Participate in the conversation
as for driving, I'm 166.5 cm tall and weigh 68kg. You have to use your body and push on your footrests with your toes, and also counter steer if you do that, it can turn very fast and short. Have a good trip with your beauty, I've already taken two refresher courses, and I'm going to take another one next year.
see you soon on the road.

great bike, there's nothing better in every respect
i've been riding Golds since 1993 and I'm always satisfied. It's the best of the best
the last one they modified the injection it's even better, torque, nervous, powerful, stable, easy to ride, it's two bikes in one, road and sport.

I sold my 2000 1500 with 190,000 km to buy a 2007 1800 with 45,000 km.
The gearbox is noisy and lacks precision, sometimes the 5 can jump during a fast passage.
The GPS is impossible to update, which is a shame.
I'm thinking of buying a 2013 model, so new the price will be decisive.
Bonne route

I also tried out a 1300 pan european and a bmw k 1600 in the same week
Of course, it was nothing but bliss.
But comfort-wise, recovery-wise, low-speed handling, rider and passenger protection, equipment-wise, it's all there, really.
For me (this is a personal opinion), it's definitely a cut above the rest
I've decided to take the plunge next spring.

- range too short for a tourer (320km dry)

For my part, I find this model more accomplished than my ex. 1800 especially at the suspension level, which makes the "beast" more "easy" more velocity ...
In short, it's better all around... including the engine, or rather the cartography!
As for the look, I like it even if I was reluctant at first... I appreciate its sobriety and it'll stay chrome-free! One fly in the ointment, but I'm hyper-demanding (yeah chi...maybe...) noisy gearbox and above all not worthy of a motorcycle of this price... I must have some rocks wandering around in mine!!! The rear is frankly "strange", the two-tone is fake, and above all, it looks plastic. Lack of finish on the rear luggage.
I'd tried the latest BMW 1600, but despite a top-notch salesman, I waited for the gold 2012. I'm disappointed, and wonder if I should wait until 2016 for the next one, or change brands.
If not a gold 2011, all options trailer I'm a buyer. Les boules....c\ It's still a 40000 euro bill, not even an engine upgrade..or electric windshield. À
