presentation of the 1690 ULTRA LIMITED FLHTK 2016

the Electra Glide Ultra Limited is the pinnacle of the Harley range, just before the CVO. An expression of Grand Tourism wanting to break free of limits. And Project Rushmore offered an abundance of improvements in 2014. Four years of listening to customers, gathering comments and ideas, providing feedback, and in the end, a discreet leap forward in every respect. The 1690 Electra Limited "generation 2" will seem little different, as delicious as ever, but its performance is in a different league. What's it all about?

well, it starts with a journey into the heart of the Twin Cam 103. You look at it, from near and far, and see no difference except its majesty. And yet, if you knew what Harley put inside... Water! Liquid cooling, hoses, radiators. Everything that would make purists howl. But the manufacturer has gone to great lengths not to offend anyone. The twin-cylinder is still predominantly air-cooled; only the cylinder heads are water-cooled.
Coolant is routed through the cylinder heads into the area around the exhaust valves. As for the heat exchangers, they are remarkably well concealed in the lower fairings. The compression ratio has been increased to 10.1:1 from 9.6:1. The airbox offers greater flow and an improved cam optimizes low-end torque. It's a win-win situation: less heat in traffic jams, 10.6% more power and 10.7% more torque. The 1688 cm3 Twin Cooled High Outout now boasts 14 mkg of torque at 3,750 rpm. An improvement of almost half a kg over the previous Twin Cam 103. Far from the 10.7% announced, which left us hoping for 15 mkg in all. Well, these are just numbers. We all know what this engine is all about.
More anecdotally, the clutch springs are firmer, but the hydraulic clutch control allows the same lever effort.

a touch of watering in the engine, and a scalpel stroke in the fairing. Harley also dares to modify its timeless "Batwing" fork head. 3000 tests later, a central air intake is cut under the windshield, to equalize air pressure and reduce turbulence around the rider's helmet. It opens and closes at the touch of a button. Then it's a cocktail of practicality and style that subtly modifies the Limited's peripherals. The Tour Pak trunk is more compact, yet offers 4% more capacity. The slimmer suitcases also provide more storage space. These pieces of luggage open with a single press. What's more, they can be locked with a One-Touch button, just like the fuel filler flap, Jukebox and glove compartments.

Harley-Davidson 1690 ULTRA LIMITED FLHTK 2016 is that all? No, far from it. Project Rushmore takes Harley into a new dimension of entertainment. The CD MP3 "moto-radio" gives way to a multimedia system worthy of an Audi. On the Electra Limited, it's called the BOOM Box 6.5 GT and includes a 6.5-inch touch screen, GPS with over 35 functions, 25 w per channel, voice recognition, Bluetooth; and with the Jukebox box, you can connect your iPod, USB key or SD card. Your tastes combine with Harley style to take you as far as the horizon.
Let's stay with life on board and discover how comfort is evolving. For the rider, as we've seen, there's a full complement of instrumentation, heated grips and cruise control. It's on the passenger side that the gains are made. The seat is 2.5 cm longer and wider, the saddlebags are lowered, the backrest is redesigned in height, width, angle and shape for greater comfort, the speakers are shifted and the armrests adjusted. With all this, it's impossible not to please the lady.

the year of change should almost have changed the name of this Touring from Limited to Unlimited. After optimizing the engine, comfort and entertainment, Harley also turned its attention to the chassis. Lighter, stiffer wheels, certainly. A 49 mm fork, yes. Fine-tuned damping, OK. And for braking, the Reflex system combined with ABS. In simple terms, front and rear brakes operate independently below 40 km/h. Above this speed, linked braking is activated. Above that, linked braking is activated and an electronic management system distributes braking between the front and rear.
Lighting has also evolved, with a Daymaker LED headlamp complemented by halogen fog lamps. In addition to offering greater luminosity, Daymaker technology adds a surprisingly modern touch. In all, these eyes distribute 2136 lumens to pierce the dark. Do these figures mean nothing to you? Neither do I.Harley-Davidson 1690 ULTRA LIMITED FLHTK 2016 The Ultra Limited 1690 "phase 2" also adopts controls with remote functions on the handlebars, a new front mudguard, new medallions, more visible instrumentation and a new electrical harness for battery charging.
While retaining a maximum of the style that makes the Electra so proud, this hymn to the open road now offers much more for a minimum of inflation. An increase which is, in any case, virtually transparent, given the amount of money required for the right to cruise on such a liner. Sitting on the 103 High Output Electra Glide Ultra Limited Rushmore, there's no longer any excuse for not enjoying yourself over thousands of kilometers.

Bonjour j'ai un soucis sur comment faire pour mettre le compteur journalier en route électra glide de 2015 c'est une bonne machine merci les amis motard Rating : 5/5
Good for freeways and beautiful country roads (pleasant torque, top protection, cruise control). On the other hand, the rear shock absorber is a real pain in the ass, and even when properly inflated, it easily bottoms out, and the weight is too high (turning around on a small road with a slope makes you break out in a cold sweat). Rear market essential. Rating : 4/5

Hello, I'm 62 years old and I'm still a biker at heart, ever since my grandfather passed on the motorcycle virus to me. After a multitude of motorcycles of various brands, I have for a few years to continue my road with Harley, exceptional motorcycle Electra of 2014 Stage 3 a motorcycle a little heavy but while driving I have the feeling to pilot a bicycle, a treat, a feeling of freedom, an indescribable comfort, impossible to go back
Bonne route à vous tous les motard .

Hello, I own a 2015 Electra on which I have completed stages 1 and 2. With its weight, the pleasure of riding is even greater. I fitted a Klock Werks short windshield to improve visibility and reduce air turbulence. Otherwise, the bike is a pleasure to ride, and you quickly forget how heavy it is when you stop. The passenger is ecstatic! Rating : 5/5

I'm 55 years old, I've been riding motorcycles for 35 years, this is my second Harley, it's a 2014 Electra glide ultra limited, with MAR, (reversing gearbox), how can I tell you, except that for me it's a work of art, it's magnificent, rides superbly, my wife finds 0 faults with it, maybe the only reproach is the gps set, which I can't get used to, but I'm the one who follows lame. Conclusion if you can please yourself, in the Harley religion we are in the must. Good luck. Route et prudence. Rating : 5/5

Hello,
Finally, an objective commentary on HD.
A lot of riders test without any real objectivity.
I'm 60 and I've been riding motorcycles since I was 16, so I've had several bikes of different makes.
For two-up riding, the Electra is one of the best motorcycles, especially as a passenger, and the bike's performance is more than sufficient for our regulatory constraints.
The plusses of Harleys are: build quality, looks, rating, reliability and, of course, there are clubs all over the world. To try it with a passenger is to adopt it, and a little madness doesn't hurt in this world where...

A reply a little late but ... !
mine does the same thing (1450 electra 2002), it's normal, you have to wait a little, because the petrol is no longer liquid in the carburettor, it's vaporized because of the heat, nothing to worry about, but rather chia... you have to wait 5 minutes, that's how it is in summer when it heats up too much, just as the oil rises to 100 degrees (normal)

Ideal for a Duo vacation, this bike is a real tourer, and the riding pleasure is indefinable. I did 15,000 km this summer (duo) on the roads of France and Spain, a real pleasure. I bought it (new and S1) in the heart of Paris without even trying it out, and immediately felt at ease. I had an MA installed as soon as I bought it, ideal for stationary maneuvers (garage). I have to admit that it's heavy and that for city driving with a passenger and luggage, it's not easy, but when unladen, it does the job, queue-jumping on the ring road and freeways: impeccable. I bought this bike which has 14000 km, quite a few problems and recalls by the dealership, clutch handle, cooling system, brake hose, fixing the cases and so on, surprising all these problems especially since the bike is not free, if it continues I will sell and go back to the competition Rating : 1/5

Hi there,
This function allows your rear cylinder to cool down.
To deactivate it, after starting the engine, turn the throttle in the opposite direction for a few seconds. The speed limiter should flash red or green. Red function deactivated, green function active.
Look in the tech doc.
Have a good trip

i have a flhtk 2014 bought july 2014 and made 4000 km. great bike, and after total deterioation. rear suspension in the air no longer works at all and the front knocks at the slightest crack in the road. The dealer changed the rear suspension but gas shock improved by 50% and front still knocks. looking for the solution so it goes back to the way it was before and it rides smooth. help me someone with ideas to remedy the problem thank you Rating : 1/5

Just great
it just makes a few concessions to the competition, that's what's needed, we don't want more, otherwise we might as well buy a jap and its insipid engine (electric)
this hd, as so often, is a delight, and you don't need to be at 160 to enjoy it
that's the charm of HD

Harley is finally getting its act together, and after seeing the ultra limited up close, it's truly a success on every level, so much so that it makes the 2013 model look dated.
On the other hand, there's no glovebox, despite what the journalists say, the space being taken up by the water tanks.
Well, I'll leave you to it and run off to order one. That's Harley for you...

After a test drive this WE and being the owner of a 2012 model, this 2014 version is a clear improvement. On the front, the steering is lighter and therefore easier to handle, and braking is much improved. The half-water, half-air motor does its job, with much reduced heat emissions. I didn't notice the extra power, as the bike isn't yet up to speed and is in the standard version (no Stage 1). The engine is very smooth and linear (I'm looking forward to the map changes). The life and aesthetic enhancements are to everyone's taste, with the added convenience of opening the saddlebags and tour pack. Passenger comfort has been taken into account by enlarging the saddle, opening the backrest and modifying the saddlebag covers. And finally, as the opinion of my friends who have tried this bike is identical to my own, we're all ready to change our previous versions for this one. Rating : 5/5

brand certainly doesn't live up to its standards.
what are you to think of a new, top-of-the-range motorcycle with a 2-year warranty whose engine breaks after 20,000 km and only 8 months of use, with a repair that will require 5 weeks of downtime? no commercial gesture, it's a high price to pay for beauty!

Owner of a road king classic 2011, we tried at the request of my wife the electra glide ultra limited and I must confess that comfort is top and there is no photo question handling compared to the goldwing and even compared to our road king (large wheel in front on the electra) the only flaw of this bike as all touring harley not reverse careful l\'on park. Maybe our bike in 2014 if HD adopts liquid cooling and l\'abs coupled on the 2 wheels. Rating : 5/5
2 major breakdowns in 4 months (replacement of the electronic box, then the starter) - obviously just after the end of the warranty period - isn't that a bit much for a 2010 model bought second-hand from a dealership and with 13,000 kms? This was my 2nd Harley, and it'll probably be my last -returning to Goldwing, 3 models bought second-hand in a dealership as well, zero breakdowns... Rating : 1/5

This is my second Harley motorcycle, I did 3 seasons with my 2005 Road King FLHRI a great bike to ride but the only problem was to equip it like a real touring bike (tour pack and non standard fairing with home made sound system). This year I decided to spoil us now that we know the basics of Harley, so the choice was without hesitation on the FLHTK ELECTRA GLIDE ULTRA LIMITED 2012. It's a great bike easy to ride with multitudes of advantages, a displacement of 1690cc and a six-speed that really makes a difference on the open road.
