presentation of the Brabus 1300 R 2023
Second service for the Brabus 1300 R. After the success of last year's first edition, which sold out in less than 2 minutes, KTM and Brabus are launching a new edition of their joint custom hyper-roadster.
It's not unusual for a car manufacturer to team up with a motorcycle brand. It's not uncommon for a carmaker to team up with a motorcycle brand, but it's not unusual. Examples include Alpine and the MV-Agusta SuperVeloce, Fiat Abarth with the XSR 900, the Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson, the Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini....
When it comes to creating a motorcycle, however, the case is more interesting. Forget BMW, which started out making aircraft engines, then motorcycles, then cars, even bicycles and trotters. Without further ado, let's discover Brabus' creation: the 1300 R. A nasty, high-end animal +, powered by a fire engine.
It packs a punch, to say the least. Aggression is immediately apparent, with a mix of taut angles and a few mocked curves. Brabus wanted to make a machine in the image of its demonic preparations. But whether or not the lines have been influenced, you can't help but notice hints of Honda CB 1000 R and Yamaha MT-10 (air intake scoops). Come closer and the scent of KTM will fill your nostrils.
After all, Brabus has no experience in the bike business. So it was in association with Katoche that the 1300 R was developed. The chassis, suspension and engine of the SuperDuke 1290 R Evo lie beneath the metamorphic skin. The Germans didn't start with a blank sheet of paper; they built on the shoulders of the Austrians.
Let's be honest: the workmanship is such that it takes a while to get to the bottom of the KTM. We enjoy contemplating the big fork, the trellis frame, the single-arm, the provocative exhaust pipes...

Still... a little extra wattage wouldn't have gone amiss, just for prestige's sake.
Well, when it comes to prestige, the 1300 R has plenty to offer. In addition to the numerous carbon parts (mudguards, scoops, fuel tank sheath belt and console, engine cover, headlight cover, boot protector, seat cover, sump protector), the machine is equipped with Brabus Monoblack Z "Platinum Edition" forged wheels, a special double muffler with ceramic coating, a composite rear buckle, a stiffer fork crown, 12-position adjustable CNC-machined footrests and a beautifully crafted heated seat. Thicker, it raises the seat to 845 mm off the ground.
Other parts are CNC-machined, such as the brake and clutch levers and the fuel filler cap.
The shapes of the bodywork and the technical underpinnings have not changed between the two vintages. However, the shoulders have been converted to carbon, there's a new seat cover for the passenger, the mirrors have been modified and the saddle has been fitted with restyled upholstery.
All these parts are supposed to bring luxury but also weight savings. For example, the carbon rear frame weighs just 800 grams. However, against all expectations, the Brabus is 3 kilos heavier than the Superduke. This results in a total dry weight of 194 kilos.

The two-wheeled Brabus will be offered in two colors: "Superblack" black or "Stealth Gray". Each will be produced in 145 units. The public will thus be treated to twice as many "Brabikes". It's a pity, though, that the saddle and tank no longer have the blood-red color that enhanced the verve of the styling.
With internet pre-orders now in vogue, the 1300 R, like the 2022 edition, can only be ordered online. The service opens on February 16 at 3:00 p.m., when the staff will ask for a 2,500 roros deposit to reserve one of the 290 KTM-Brabus. A trifle compared to the 4 plates to be paid in total - the price of the bike has risen by more than 6% between two vintages.
