from 2004 to 2026Z - when Kawasaki went from the 750 to the 900
at a time when mid-size roadsters (Fazer, Hornet, Bandit) were being ripped apart by 600cc machines, Kawasaki has thrown a spanner in the works by offering a seven-and-a-half for the price of a 600. With its manga-like design and more generous mid-range trunk, the Z 750 has earned itself a strong place in the category.
after 10 years, including a mid-cycle redesign, the Z climbed to 800 cm3, gaining torque and weight. In the meantime, the competition had reacted, and it had to contend with the MT-09, the GSR 750 and above all Triumph, which had a damn fine roadster in the shape of the Street Triple. Nevertheless, it remains in the top 5 of the market. But we're going to have to do better.
that's the case in 2017, when the Z 900 makes a big effort. It's now almost a 1000, with 10 more horsepower than the 800 and, above all, 20 kilos less. Time will soon bring traction control, a color TFT instrument panel and several riding modes.
