from 2003 to 2026The big KTM Adventure, R and hard!
When KTM entered the world of large trail bikes, it immediately asserted its serious off-road ambitions with the 950 Adventure. A more seasoned version was offered for demanding adventurers: the S.
2009 saw an increase in displacement and power, a slight redesign and a name change from S to R.
2013 marks an important milestone, with a less distinctive silhouette and, above all, a move to a higher, even extravagant, level of power. The engine comes from the RC-8 R hypersport, and reaches 1195 cm3 and 150 hp. Enhanced electronics make their appearance.
Even more displacement in 2017 with the engine of the SuperDuke R. Its 1301 cm3 allow the trail to reach 160 hp and over 14 mkg. Its size becomes impressive, clearly showing the level of commitment required. The dashboard is upgraded to color TFT, electronic assistants are reinforced and the face confirms the threatening, authoritative turn that will dominate the Austrian range.
A 2021 update sees the chassis retouched, the silhouette made sportier and the electronics more precise.
At the end of 2024, KTM presents an even more monstrous Super Adventure: the 1390. The company's setbacks postponed the release of this model until late 2025. The engine adopts variable valve timing, measures 1350 cm3 and now delivers 173 horsepower. The front end became even more aggressive, the dashboard bigger, the frame stiffer, and the bike was ready to take on the track.
