presentation of the 1190 Adventure R 2013
the Adventure has always been backed up by a more typical version. This is even more the case with the 1190. With the big Katoche trail bike clearly displaying much more on-road ambitions than before, the R proudly takes up the torch of off-roading - an area where the Austrian has always outdone the competition.
you may not have noticed: the Adventure 1190 is much more charming than the 990 it replaces. More silky-smooth, with less storage space on wheels, it also benefits from the twin of the RC8-R hypersport. Taut muscle for a high-velocity trail bike. With 150 horsepower in the pistons, the engine boasts an increase of 35 units. Brutal! And an increase in displacement is good for torque. From 10 mkg to 12.7. Perfect for forgetting the weight gain (+10 kg) engendered by the evolution.
the most spectacular distinguishing feature between the two versions of the Adventure is the prominent side frame reinforcements. It's a sign that this beauty wants to be on the trail, protect itself from ruts and rocks, and take on the terrain. Its tires allow it to do just that, but they're not a passport. When you choose the R, you're wavering towards that touring spirit, and the features of this version are numerous and eloquent: one-piece seat, larger and slimmer wheels (90-90/21 and 150-70/18), 30 mm more suspension travel, smaller windscreen, wider handlebars, tire pressure monitor fitted as standard, taller and non-adjustable seat, headroom shortened from 120 to 108 mm and wheelbase increased by 20 mm.
the technological innovation of 2013, electronic suspension, will not be available on the R, but will be offered as an option on the standard model. Katoche prefers to leave the settings to the rider. The 48 mm inverted fork and WP shock absorber are fully adjustable. But that doesn't mean the Adventure is left out of the assistance equation. Silicon and digital signals make it possible to install a ride-by-wire throttle, 4-mode traction control (Sport, Street, Rain, Offroad) and 3-stage ABS (Bosch 9ME). 3-stage ABS (Bosch 9ME) On the "mechanical" side, there's an anti-dribble clutch and steering damper.
whether standard or R, the 1190 Adventure offers a number of appreciable devotions: a copious 23-liter fuel tank, a 15,000-kilometer service interval, adjustable handlebars and footrests, braking equipment worthy of a sports bike, and watts galore.... and that little extra that can't be ignored on R versions: the orange frame. A machine clearly aimed at a selective, experienced clientele.

Really super perfect for almost everything: engine, handling, braking, comfort (top suspension!)...
Only one flaw spoils the fun: the engine really heats up the thighs and legs too much! In town, it's hellish. Rating : 4/5 Respond to al
Very comfortable right from the start, plus it's great off-road: goat trails and small jumps at ease. And Watts galore...
And all this with much greater ease of maintenance.
