from 1959 to 2026Bonneville - a legend through time.
The Bonneville is THE Triumph!!! An icon inseparable from the manufacturer. Now a retro machine in the manufacturer's catalog, in its heyday it was a sports and performance bike. The year 1959 saw the appearance of its eternal physique, its 650 twin and its records. It was improved and produced until 1983, in the last illusions of a dying brand.
Triumph came back to life at the end of the 80s thanks to John Bloor. New models, modernity, fresh capital and a competitive vision restored the British flag to its former glory.
Aware of this muse's great potential for passion, Triumph relaunched it in 2001 as a nostalgic, pleasant and bucolic motorcycle. The design is very close to the original, the retro-revival aspect is successful, and the performance is modest but in keeping with the charm it is intended to exude. The 790 cm³ parallel-twin engine, with 360° throttle, produced 62 hp. True to the original spirit, the engine was air-cooled, and the engineers even concealed the oil cooler to preserve the classic aesthetic.
In 2007, Triumph upgraded the engine to 865 cm3. This increase in displacement added a little torque and power, making the bike finely tuned and more alert. It was during this period that electronic fuel injection was introduced to comply with Euro standards, but Triumph had the ingenious idea of concealing the injectors in dummy carburetors to retain the retro look.
In 2016, a new engine appeared with the Street Twin; the Bonneville would get it the following year. A liquid-cooled 900 cm3, cleaner but far less powerful with 55 horsepower.
In 2021, it receives a performance upgrade, with an extra 10 hp (or 65 bhp), Brembo brakes for more efficient braking, and reduced weight.
