The history of the brand

Bultaco is a Spanish motorcycle brand with a glorious sporting past, founded in 1958 and dissolved in 1983.
Its founder Franscico Xavier Bulto, better known as Don Paco Bulto,
had initially created the Montesa brand with other collaborators. However, due to differing views, Bulto eventually resigned, followed by some of the Montesa staff. He founded his own brand in 1958: Bultaco, remaining true to his competitive spirit.

Initially, the brand focused on road racing machines.
The 1st Bultaco in history, the Tralla 1, was launched in 1959, the same year it was entered in a legendary race in Barcelona.
Bultaco won its 1st World Speed Championship title in 1978 in the 50 cm3 category.

But it was mainly in the world of off-road racing, especially trials, that Bultaco shone.
With one of its emblematic riders, Sammy Miller, the Sherpa T caused a sensation, winning 5 world titles in the 70s.

Despite these good results in competition, Bultaco experienced its 1st difficulties in 1979, and despite a rescue attempt in the early 80s, with severe restructuring, the Bultaco brand died out in 1983.

It wasn't until 31 years later, in 2014, that Bultaco made its comeback, this time in the electric sector.
The management team was led by Austrian Gérald Poellmann, under the guidance of the heirs of Bultaco's founding father. The new company's factory was located near Barcelona, and the associated research center near Madrid.

An innovative concept somewhere between a motorcycle and a bicycle, the Brinco is a modern electric vehicle with an aluminium frame, approved as a moped equivalent to a 50 cm3 internal combustion engine, so it can be ridden anywhere. But they're also bikes! A simple push-button selects the bike mode, which acts on a classic 9-speed derailleur.

In 2015, Bultaco unveiled its latest jewel: a top-of-the-range electric roadster called Rapitan.
