Just a few hours after parting ways with Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, Yamaha announced that Jorge Martín and Ai Ogura have signed with its official MotoGP team for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
As MotoGP prepares to enter a new technical era in 2027, Yamaha continues to lay the groundwork for its long-term project by combining proven championship-winning experience with one of the sport’s brightest emerging talents.
Jorge Martín joins Yamaha as a leading rider in modern MotoGP. A MotoGP World Champion and multiple Grand Prix winner, the Spaniard has made his mark thanks to his exceptional speed, determination, and ability to consistently compete at the highest level.
Alongside him, the unassuming and talented Ai Ogura embodies the future of Yamaha and MotoGP. Having quickly established himself as one of the championship’s most promising young riders, the Japanese talent joins the factory team at an exciting stage in his career, making him the ideal candidate to support Yamaha’s long-term ambitions.

Together, Martín and Ogura form a duo of riders with complementary profiles, ideal for driving Yamaha’s competitive ambitions as the championship enters a new era.
Paolo Pavésio, General Manager of Yamaha Motor Racing, said:
We are delighted to welcome Jorge and Ai to the Yamaha Factory MotoGP Team as we embark on a new era in 2027. Signing riders of this caliber demonstrates our ambition and confidence in this project.
Jorge has already proven himself to be among the top riders in MotoGP, thanks to the speed, determination, and mindset needed to fight for victories and the world title. We are counting on him to play a key role in improving our performance from day one.
Ai’s progress over the past season and a half has been remarkable. His talent, work ethic, and potential give us confidence that he can establish himself as one of the best riders in the championship. Furthermore, we are particularly proud to welcome a Japanese rider to the Yamaha Factory Team.
