presentation of the GSX-8TT 800 2025
A Suzuki GSX-8 comes in all flavors: sport (R), roadster (S), trail(SE and DE), neo-retro (T), and neo-retro-sport with the TT version. A streamlined roadster derived directly from the GSX-8T, with more trim, more colors and a more racy spirit. A bit of cafra in the eyes, but a similar reality on the road?
The face of an old Superbike
Why did we call it the TT? Because the T500, the inspiration for the GSX-8T, won the Tourist Trophy in '70 and '72? Probably not. But it wants to identify with moments of past glory, appropriating the face of the GS1000S in its styling. Its squared-off shape is more reminiscent of the ZRX 1100 R (from Kawasaki). Two machines from different periods, but with the same 70s US Superbike flavour.
Not really. It's more a response to the vintage movement, with more visual character than the GSX-8T. The presence of a retro (but not old-fashioned) fork head, an engine cowling and more aggressive decals make the GSX-8TT a bike that stands out. It's got cachet, it's got attitude! Get out the Kodaks, it looks like it's got them in its pockets.
Other personality-enhancing features shared with the T include a fuel tank 2.5 liters larger than that of the GSX-8S, handlebar-mounted mirrors, a redesigned rear end and radiator scoops with a very personal style. The saddle is a little flatter, lowering the seat height by 5 mm.

Family conquest
Why were we talking about the GSX-8S again? Ah, now I remember. Because the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT are based on the aforementioned roadster. At first glance, it's impossible to tell the difference. The design stroke proves its success. And then, when you get to know the machine a little, you recognize the steel frame, the aluminum swingarm with that sort of central rib, the ugly rear mudguard, the two side-by-side exhaust pipes and the pleasant 776 cm3 twin.
A very pleasant engine, praised not for its power but for its spirit, its length and its 83 bouncy horses. Since Suz' wanted to draw a parallel between its GSX-8TT and the GS1000S in its advertising, we should point out that the venerable predecessor was only 7 hp more powerful and weighed 238 kg dry. Its "descendant" weighs in at 203... fully loaded. That's two kilos more than the GSX-8 with a single T.

Will believing be enough?
Suzuki had the good idea of giving it tapered indicators, colored rims for a nice effect, a plate on the tailpipe for a little pep, and a USB-C socket; but no adjustments for the inverted fork or additional adjustments for the amorto, both Kayaba. The Nissin 4-piston radial calipers are still there, as are the 310 mm front discs and all the GSX-8S electronics. Arglh, a retro-style speedo would have been welcome.
So, beneath its old Superbike facade, this ektachrome roadster houses traction control, ABS, an Up&Down shifter, Suzuki Start System and Low RPM Assist, three riding modes, and a 5" color TFT screen. Leaving aside its stylistic mismatch, the screen is very pleasant, bright, well laid out and free of reproach.
Unfortunately, Suzuki has put a thorn in the GSX-8TT's side right from the start: its price. Almost the same as a Z 900 RS when it first came out, 3,600 euros more than the 8S (on special offer), and barely less than a CBR 600 RR; and I'm not talking about the XSR 900 (one cylinder more and 400 euros less). It's going to take a lot of love to make the price a relative argument. Otherwise, the TT can count on the good humor of its engine and chassis to perfectly accompany its retro-sport look.
