presentation of the GSX-R 1000 2002

despite its sleek, taut styling, the 1000 GSX-R is hardly distinguishable from its 600 and 750 siblings . That's a long way from saying they're one and the same.

don't be fooled by the 4-digit sticker. Aside from the slightly specific deco and the wider tire (a 190 mm), the big Suz is best recognized by its front end: 6-piston brake calipers and Kayaba inverted forks treated with titanium nitrate.

and, as with all our bikes, the best is to be found inside. The GSX-R 1000 may not be any more intimidating than the 750, but underneath its exterior lies an engine packed with dynamite. 4 kg heavier than the 3/4-liter, it boasts an uncompromising 160 hp. With a dry weight of just 170 kgs, there's no need to draw you a picture - it's going to bleed. With the competition, a knot in the stomach has just formed. Fuel injection and a new dual throttle system per intake duct. One is controlled by the rider, the other by the electronic control unit, which manages it optimally. The titanium exhaust system features a valve called SET (Suzuki Exaust Tuning), similar to Yamaha's EXUP, which boosts low-end torque.

and for a 1000, it's very, very severe. The spark plug is available from 3000 rpm, full and available at all revs. It revs with incredible vigor. No inertia, watts everywhere, and a powerful engine behavior, almost violent but never brutal. The engine-makers didn't just add horsepower willy-nilly. The 160 horsepower are all there, fiery but also usable. The smoothness of the controls is matched by the flexibility of the block. There's none of the thundering character of the R1 's motorization, and so the bike is much more controllable coming out of corners or in the rain. If you now think the machine is easy, really screw on the handle... 1st: you're upright - 2nd: wheeling for 30 km - 3rd: it still lifts... Stop fooling around and judge the talents of this sporty bike on its favourite place: the track.

As theSUZUKI 1000 GSX-R chassis is virtually identical to that of the 750, you'll find the same qualities. Quick to dive into corners, it's not as alert as a 600, but surprising for its size. Precise, very stable, not moving a muscle, it swallows the bend without batting an eyelid, then takes off again like a bullet. Traction is bluffing, and the speeds reached are demonic. The 1000 is at ease in slow sequences, less so in fast ones than its younger sibling (admittedly the benchmark among sports bikes). The high power output and, in part, the wide tire, require the rider to be firm with the beast. Mind you, it's not a cow at all - but it does require a certain amount of effort to steer it well, to make it change angle in the pif-pafs... and a good dose of technique and composure to exploit its full potential. It's still less physical than an R1, but has surprising potential for riders. A good straight line: 3.... 4.... 5.. 6 Look, sixth gear is already here!?!

The last 2 gears are very close. No doubt to prevent optimists from reaching mind-boggling speeds(the Hayabusa has left its mark...). The 750 speedometer is stuck at 299 km/h. Well, why not? But that doesn't stop the rev counter from continuing to climb. Good braking is essential, and this is where this super-sporty machine's main drawback comes to the fore. Braking power is more than generous, but its bite is less convincing (different pads should remedy this). Before the driver goes to smash his helmet into the bubble, he'll have appreciated the well-studied driving position, rather stooped but not so uncomfortable compared to its niche rivals.

let's not beat around the bush. The Suzuki GSX-R 1000 is a fantastic sports bike. Since it first appeared on the market and in the championships, it has twisted everything that rolls, won trophy after trophy, disgusted all the competition and driven thousands of bikers mad. Its only real flaw is its marked resemblance to other GSX-R models.

It's 2019... I decided to return to my 1st love... after a long search I found a k1 in exceptional condition... It's been a long time since I've ridden this gex 1000... What a surprise! Imperial, powerful. I'm coming off a last-generation s1000rr and my main bike is a 1290 superduke R 2019...well, old-school is no match for today's chip-packed bikes...the pleasure is incomparable, a way of riding a sport bike that's getting lost... Too bad...it lives, it pushes hard without going for crazy tricks... Electro makes you lazy... I really felt it, it reminded me of it... Experience has to be present, and we have to go back to the old reflexes of before...an exceptional motorcycle... Rating : 5/5

motorcycle of my dreams. every time I get on it I forget all the problems, superb bike on road or track, a granny for some but still up to the latest standards, it's still a real motorcycle with character, not a robot full of electronics. Rating : 5/5

i need spare parts for this motorcycle: suzuki gsx r 1000 (fork, mudguard, dashboard, headlight and taillight, memory, the two chairs, two mirrors) please give us prices per part Rating : 3/5
After 2 years of 600 ZZR and 1 year of 1000 TLR..
A word of advice: don't buy this bike... EXCEPT if you don't mind circling the city 3 times before going home, or if as soon as you stop, all you can think about is getting back on!..!
It's an exceptional machine with enormous potential: a grip that makes you wonder if there really is a limit? a potato worthy of a 160-strong 1000 that propels the 3/4000 rpm needle right into the red zone. A lightness that makes it a real bike and lifts your front wheel like a flower, all the way up to 4th gear, just by getting back on the throttle... A shark's mouth ready to bite anything that rolls
GSXR 1000... I don't want that anymore...

i had a 2001 r1 in free version and all my buddies had k1's and well every time i went out i got rear wheel dislocated and when i asked them how much they raised the answer was.my first k1, which i've owned for a month, brought it to me (in 4th grade) and this bike is really great, there are watts in every report, the most impressive is when 5 the engine displays 299km/h and it still pulls I love this bike for its character, its lines and then a gsxr with a yosh it's melodious: sniff Rating : 5/5
French tazz55700 Model 2001
personally I think it's an excellent machine, I used to own an 1100 gsxr prepared for formula, it worked well but when I tried the 1000, I quickly sold my 1100 which looked like a pocket bike to buy a k1 which for me seems (sufficient) it lifts very easily and believe me every time I shift a good kick in the ass..
i had the chance to try a k5 and frankly it's really very violent, especially with two people, it's unusable, before you find something better you really have to look
sur ce bonne route a tous et prudence

French davy Model 2001
This bike is pure genius, I had a new one that I kept for 2 years and it's a real bomb, it grips the asphalt with exellence, it's a powerful bike, for mine 158 hp, with incredible roadholding and neutral underneath it all, in the bends and in the rain it's a party, even at 160 in a bend with heavy rain it barely shripes, the bike lifts without forcing, that's clear, and when you're two-up, it lifts very quickly if you let go of the clutch too quickly. Frankly, it's all good, and when I see the new one, it's not very aesthetically pleasing on the outside, but the engine is still surprising given its written performance and empty weight..
Have a good ride, and watch out for stomach cramps at high revs...
