presentation of the 765 STREET TRIPLE R 2018
agile, responsive, rewarding... the Street Triple 675, with its rounded twin headlamps and whistling three-cylinder engine, has long been the annoying little fly in the ointment of Japanese industry. In the light of history, with its parasitic swirl, it's got the British revenge. With this new version, which adapts to the generalized increase in cylinder capacity instigated by the Japanese, the buzzing will continue.
which is excellent news! Especially now that three of them have arrived, and the vengeful swarm is arriving in formation. It's going to sting. We'll focus here on the R version, a mid-range model wedged between the cheap S and the ultimate RS. The new features are numerous, starting with the engine, which increases from 675 cm3 to 765 cm3. Yes, the 7 and 6 have been reversed, and that changes a lot of things! Precisely a gain of 90 cm3, which on this version delivers 118 bhp at 12,000 rpm, for a torque of 77 Nm at 9,400 rpm - a gain of 5 bhp compared to the 765 S... and 12 bhp since the 675 - Of course, the inversion of the first two digits of the displacement is not solely responsible for this evolution. More than 80 new parts, including a new crankshaft, are also responsible. Particular attention has been paid to low revs. In their favor, the gearbox has been redesigned, with the first two gears pulling shorter. Ideal for giving it a voice. In fact, Triumph has used a new airbox and a new, lighter, Euro 4-certified exhaust system.
Of course , a new wind tunnel would be nothing without the necessary electronic reinforcements. So the little Englishwoman is equipped with all the contemporary necessities. These include an electronic throttle and 4 driving modes: Rain, Road, Sport and Rider, the last of which is fully customizable. And disconnectable traction control, aided by an anti-dribble clutch. The receptacle for all this electronics is the new 5' color TFT instrument panel. Its sublime, modern display is adjustable and varies according to the driving mode selected. Sport" and "Track" modes feature the rev counter and gear indicator, while "Road" and "Rain" modes focus on the speedometer. This little jewel of technology is also very well equipped. There's a gear indicator, fuel gauge, fuel consumption, range, choice of display type, contrast adjustment, service information and, last but not least, engine temperature. The only thing missing is the stopwatch, exclusive to the RS version.

the chassis also evolves to suit the overall package. Already an example of rigor and liveliness, the frame remains unchanged, while the swingarm is completely new. Longitudinal torsion is improved, while lateral rigidity has been reduced. It's accompanied by a new Showa fork, inverted and adjustable. The rear shock absorber, from the same manufacturer, is also adjustable. As for the new Street's stoutness, there's no slimming down in sight, but Triumph has managed to keep the weight down despite the increased displacement. On the scales, it drops from 183kg for the old 675 to 183.4kg for the 765. The best feature is undoubtedly the Brembo M 4.32 4-piston radial calipers.
the new design is also an invitation to lick your fingertips. Starting with new radiator scoops that make it more fuel-efficient, and LED lights that make it sparkle... with a thousand lights. Supported by a new fork head, inspired by the Speed's, the bike is extremely precious and refined. The curvature of the rear frame remains more or less the same, with the exception of the doubled seat, exacerbating the sportiness of the line. This excess of care will appeal to the most delicate of riders, who will also benefit from the LRH (Low Ride Height) option, offering lowered suspension and seat configuration. Three colors will be available: Jet black (gloss black), Crystal white (predominantly white with red finishes) and Matt Aluminium Silver (matt grey).

It's got what it takes, with plenty of power at the revs, and the chassis keeps up at all speeds, on the road and on the track
It's at ease on twisty roads
Its fuel consumption is low for its performance, averaging 5 litres/100 km
Relatively light (around 180 kg)
It can take long trips without breaking the rider's buttocks!
However, it's no match for a duo!
The gearbox is completely forgettable, and selection is smooth and precise
The shifter (up only as an option) operates with a slight jerk when
gear change
No mechanical problems in 23,000 km since new, a (Swiss) clock!
The minuses
Not suitable for a duo
