presentation of the 1700 CROSS COUNTRY TOUR 2012

although Victory's Touring range boasts half a dozen models, it lacked a long-distance GT, less exuberant than a Vision but more well-traveled than a Cross Country. The result is the Cross Country Tour. By fitting a top-case with a design similar to that of the Vision, the machine substantially increases its load capacity. If you add up the volume of the suitcases, top case and front panniers, you get 155 liters of available space, the best score in the range. The Vision Tour liner tops out at 110 liters.

this tourer is entirely based on the Cross Country, both technically and mechanically. To take on Harley on its own turf, it's not just a question of style, but above all of engine. Victory has what it takes: a paunchy V-twin (how could it be otherwise...), huge, clean-cut and well-mannered. The striking 106 logo between the cylinders indicates its displacement in cubic inches, or 1731 cm3 for us Europeans. It's even bigger and fatter than the 103 ci from Milwaukee's Touring range. On Uncle Sam's side, we can count on 97 horsepower - our standards desolder about 8% of this power, but there's still a hefty 15 mkg to move this beast weighing almost 400 kg. Since Victory was founded in 1998, engine manufacturers have had time to work and refine this big twin. Available and efficient, the engine is efficient and available, but lacks relief. Compared to the Twin Cam, it has the advantage of superior strength; in terms of character, the Davidson offers more thrills.

one area where the Cross outperforms the Harley Touring is in handling. The chassis, with its molded aluminum frame and inverted fork, offers a more rigorous ride than you might expect from a motorcycle weighing over 400 kg with a rider. Braking is via 3 x 300 mm discs, gripped by 4-piston calipers at the front and 2 at the rear. The 22-liter fuel tank means you can ride with peace of mind, set a good pace and cruise for a long time.

as a good GT, this Tour abounds in equipment and protection. ABS is standard, as are heated grips and seat (dual-zone please), pneumatic rear suspension, protective rails for suitcases, a pair of adjustable footrests, aglable footrests, a 12V socket, an iPod interface, two storage compartments in the leg protection scoops, and optional cruise control and reverse gear kit.
Compared to the Cross Country, the Tour offers much greater protection. In addition to the larger windscreen, there are small deflectors at the base of the fork head and the wide front scoops already mentioned. These incorporate an ingenious ventilation system, which comes in handy when summer hits.

more equipment and more skills, and you can feel it on the scales. By going from Cross Country to Cross Country Tour, the Victory takes on 46 kilos more. The bill also climbs, taking 1,500 euros in the process. The price of this bike should be put into perspective, as it is 5,000 euros less than its direct competitor, the HD Electra Glide Ultra Classic.

super moto, comfortable, nice noise, good vibrations, low fuel consumption....que du bonheur et le service apres vente a pontault combault est vraiement top...
the only downside is that I find I have to downshift too much to second gear in roundabouts or tight corners...my old bm does better with 700cm3 less. otherwise it still pushes hard

The only problem for Victory in Quebec is resale value, as it's not an H-D in name only. After having had H-D Touring bikes (Flhx, Ultra Classic, etc.), riding a Cross Country bike is light years ahead of a Harley. From 90 kl/h a Flhx starts to pitch and shudder from the Fearing, which is frankly unpleasant for the arms, shoulders and back... on the Victory, both the torque and the ride provide a level of comfort never before achieved by H-D, and for 97 hp it offers incomparable economy...and all this is USA compared to H-D, which mechanically has Porsche injectors and Honda engine blocks, so for a purist like me, the choice is simple and for less money...so MAYBE H-D will have this refinement in 2025.. Then I went to Fontenay sous bois, a smaller garage but with a more family-like atmosphere, more passionate, and Yve, the owner, even offers very nice paint jobs at prices that seem normal to me. As for the trade-in of my zzr, I'm waiting for an answer in the next few days and even if I'm not doing business, I tend to prefer this type of dealer who seems more passionate than his customers. Maybe next time I'll tell you about my victory ;-)) Rating : 3/5

an excellent product I own a zzr 1400 and I'd like to go over to the cool side of the force, but that's it...when I went to the victory dealers in paris I was well received and I saw the products which are a very good alternative to hd for those who want to ride Custom, but it took me a week at hd to get a price on a street glide with the options I want, plus a test ride on three models.. at victory it's not the case, I've been waiting for three weeks for the dealer to email me a proposal plus a test ride on the model I'm interested in, and on certain forums it seems that some Paris dealerships "il y en a que deux" charge for test rides and that the price of servicing is more expensive...what does polaris do????
