presentation of the 1000 FAZER FZS 2005

the concept is not new, but the realization is tantalizing: the thundering boiler of the R1 hypersport in a Fazer. It's a way of rediscovering the joys of sportiness without the exclusivity. The inspirational 600 Fazer is ultra-famous for its ideal versatility. It's a superb combination of bike-work-sleep, weekend ride, and even a little romp with friends. So imagine this potential with a 1,000...

bold claims rhyme with teasing plumage. The fork head is much prettier and more aggressive than that of the 600, giving the Fazer 1,000 its stylistic identity. The same is true of the rear end, with its two small round lights, very similar to the R1.

the frame is a double cradle made of sturdy 48.5 mm-diameter steel tubes, which house the R1's reworked mill. To adapt it to road use, we changed the intake pipes and carburetors, swapped some magnesium components for aluminum, made the crankshaft heavier, modified the clutch and part of the transmission, etc., etc.... The result: 143 hp, but above all a more usable, more accessible machine.

the Fazer is for the road, not the track; and without control, power is nothing! To the chagrin of those with a passion for sensations, the block has noticeably lost its pistardine explosiveness. The colossal, sensation-providing power has mellowed, but not disappeared. The low-end potato wakes up later, but the potential is there. The suppleness of the 4-leg transforms into a generous thrust at around 3,500 rpm, only to become nasty after 5,000. It's not as violent as the R1, but it's still pretty damn expressive. How will the chassis cope? Perfectly! Comfortably seated in a pleasant, slightly forward-leaning position, you guide the bike with serenity, efficiency and ease. The Fazer's well-designed suspension can be adjusted from all sides, so it's easy to avoid the pitfalls. Spinning and twirling? The imposing, available torque takes care of getting you out of corners with glee. Tightening up? No problem. Braking is just like on the R1, only with different pads. The handling and chassis are as sound as they are thoughtful.

comfort has not been forgotten. The XJR 1,300 may not boast the same dynamic qualities as the R1, but the suspension is a perfect match for the rider's roadholding and complacency. Where we do grumble is on the seat and the bubble, which is cute but more symbolic than protective. For the posterior, the seat is firm, and this could be restrictive if you decide to trim the bollard. The fuel tank is a little hard on the thighs, as well as spreading them apart - that's the fault of the FZS. What's also worrying is the machine's average finish. After fitting the engine, it looks like the engineers didn't quite know where to fit everything else. As for the rest, it's all in the Fazer spirit: easy to handle, full dashboard, Yam gearbox (so "not worse but not better"), versatility and playfulness.

Having passed the 50 mark, and having always had supersports, I decided to go for more comfort. As I'd had 3 R1s before it, and knowing that it's the same block but with a heavier vilo (in favor of torque at the expense of speed), I was expecting to find a soft bike. The early days took some getting used to, due to the totally different chassis from the aluminum perimeters, but once I got the hang of it => Oh my God! Up to 6,000 rpm, it won't surprise you, but after 7,000, I was smiling despite myself under the helmet. The chassis is exceptional, the perfect blend of agility and stability. Improved reliability (with the correction of engine oil consumption), acceptable comfort, great range, a docility that makes you feel confident and forgiving of your mistakes. Come on, just one small reproach, it's a shame that the footpegs scrape the ground when you don't reach the limit of the tire. Without that, it's perfect (even if the wind protection isn't great), and I find it far superior to its successor, the FZ1 (less range without more quality). Rating : 4/5

Hello,
I bought this bike after selling my africa twin 1000, so it's not the same bike at all. I had a 600 fazer from 2003. The fazer 1000 is something else, you have to hold on to the handlebars, but I like it, it's blue, great condition, I'm starting to get the measure of my bike. The negative is the protection of the bubble, but I'm going to put a higher one on, the heat of the engine in traffic and no abs. The positive is the engine, a bullet, top braking and ease of handling, but I'm 63 so I'm not a novice. Not a bike for beginners bon V A TOUS .

C'est un véritable collector !
French Keanus Model 2001
It's a simply exceptional machine that needs to be adapted to your personality.
So mine is

- Full throttle at 143 hp

- AVIA hoses, because even if the original braking system is that of the R1, its power remains good but its feel fades with age

- A Fournalès combination that greatly improves comfort, responsiveness and weight! Flying carpet" effect and hyper-fast or strong rebound depending on inflation. It's great to be able to choose between comfort and grip simply by inflating. I don't think any hydraulic shock absorber can boast such responsiveness. I have the impression that the rear wheel is always well stuck to the ground despite bumps

- When I changed the chain kit, which lasted a good 40,000 km, I decided to go for 6% shorter: 1 tooth less on the PSB and 2 teeth more on the sprocket. It's capable of lifting by itself in a second as long as I turn it dry at over 5,000 rpm

It's a Roadster, and I simply wanted to highlight its Dragster side, because frankly... You can't drive fast anymore, given the repression everywhere..

It's simple: when it comes to 0 to 100, not even recent sports cars or the latest Triumph 1200 RS can match its original 3.1 seconds, which I've dropped by 6% (i.e. just under 3 s ).

It's only on the 100 to 200 that the Triumph really comes into its own... But as we're limited to 130 km/h, there really aren't many wheels that can get past it on the 0 to 130 which is reached... At the end of 1st gear!

No ABS, no electronics, no Launch Control, and yet..

Lithium battery, Fournales and carbon rims could well make this a bike unrivalled in versatility and sportiness, while losing weight.

Only those lucky enough to own one can understand what I'm saying

20 years on, no other machine can compare. This really is a bike that should be considered a collector's item.

3 times I've sold a 1000 fzs and I'm STILL going to take one back, despite owning a z1000sx tourer that I'm going to keep, as it's more fun for 2. This milou is top-notch, we're still on carburetors, and the feeling compared to injection is not comparable. I had more fun with the fzs than with the tuono (too dry in suspat, very fun engine but reliability...), than with the FZ1 (higher consumption, noisier engine but better chassis) or than with the Zsx
PSB -1 and small roads are a treat! Don't be afraid of FZs with high mileage: these aren't young riders' bikes, and they're often well-maintained. This is a solid block!

I can confirm that it's a superb machine. I bought a new one in 2004 and I still have it. After 195,000 km, it's still running :)
And no problem unloading the front end at traffic circles or rubbing the footbraces. Mémé is still going strong despite her years
In terms of maintenance, not much to say apart from the overhauls recommended by Yam. The distri was done at 160000, as there was no abnormal wear.
On the other hand, you'll need a carburetor manifold (normal wear). But at this mileage, I can't say I blame him

An ultra-versatile machine, torque and suppleness down low, a very natural riding position, a duo capability that modern bikes no longer offer with their folding seats, the charm and character of carburetors, an engine with plenty of length, trapper-like braking, the explosion of all the drunks at 9,000 rpm (145hp is quite enough), precise steering and a frame that holds up well. I can't think of a modern motorcycle with the qualities I find in it. Rating : 5/5

Hello
I have just bought a 2005 with 45000km in almost new condition. 68 years old and after many motorcycles, I am impressed by the flexibility and at the same time the reactivity of the machine, it sends very strong, super with a seat comfort and despite my 1.87 m good position of legs and arms, consumption + or - 6.5 l on various roads. Only downside, it will have to put a higher bubble because from 120 km / h it is not tenable especially in winter

Very powerful and reliable motorcycle, 160,000 km and still starts right up!
Exceptional engine !
She's getting a bit tired, it's true, with dips and rpm swings, and has required a lot... a lot of oil !!!!
But 16 years of loyal service and not too expensive maintenance (mainly changing seals and hoses, which are getting old, and that's normal).
On the other hand, I don't agree with what some people say: I'm almost at 9 l/100 km fuel consumption. range barely between 210 and 230 km depending on driving (I almost only drive on freeways (100km/day) and at legal speeds).
the speedo has been partly out of order for quite some time (it's a disease with this model).
As for braking, let's be frank: it's BIG crap! even with bleeding and hose changes, no bite and no feel, soft grip. Not good enough for a 143 hp bike!

French Model 2005
Owner of a 2005 Dark Grey model since September 2016, I'm delighted with it. Even though I bought it with 54,000 kms on the clock, I've never had a breakdown since reaching 76,000 kms. I ride it all the time, even in winter, and the 140 hp are just right. The seat is comfortable, especially compared with my Zs d'avant. The gearbox is Yamaha, it's a slap in the face, but at least it goes well. The bike handles very well for its weight, and the braking is very effective but not scary, especially the rear, which I find very powerful.
I was afraid to change my Zs, and didn't like the change, but now I don't regret my choice, even if the Z stands up well.
Mechanically, it's easily accessible, even if you still need to know the ropes.
For those who want an all-round bike, the Fzs 1000 is for them.
And a big plus: this bike is a camel. In mixed conditions, my record is 255 kms on reserve. On the road, 280 kms, reserve not yet lit, and 6l left......

For a long time, I'd been looking for an all-round bike with a kick. It was love at first sight when I tested it and put the throttle to work. With a few adjustments, comfort seat, bubble with MRA deflector, top case and Michelin Pilot 2CT tires, I hit the back roads of France, heading for Dijon, Le Castellet and of course full throttle - a marvel of pleasure, especially on the curves of the Ardèche. Fuel consumption is a surprising 5l in touring mode. I've been driving a BMW K100RT for 10 years, and I don't regret the change at all: it's more comfortable, easier to handle, especially at a standstill and in traffic jams, and easier to weave around in town.
In terms of maintenance, it's quite affordable if you're a do-it-yourselfer. For the big 40,000 km service, my mechanic charged me less than 400 â'¬, whereas I read that Gilbert paid 870 â'¬ - a real rip-off.
I recommend this bike for those on a budget, and it ages very well if it's well looked after.
Bonne route à tous

Here I am again, 1 and a half years later, with my 2002 Faz, I'm at 112,000 km, no weaknesses in the mill, I can confirm that it's reliable, Yosh RS3 stainless steel exhaust with baffle because it's too loud without it (I'm careful with the blue ones), valve clearances and timing only at 92,000 km, the previous owner had never done a major overhaul, carburettor rich synchro at 110,000 and it's rolling, baby. I switched to 100% synthetic because with the semi I had to top it up every 1,000 km, since then it hasn't changed in 3,000, the chain kit is 25,000 and still good, I've changed the wheel bearings, steering bearings and original amorto. I'm taking it to the end, my mechanic says I might not see it if it's still well maintained.
As for the brakes, I think they're top-notch, very good felling, shod in Pilot Road 4 for long-distance road use, and the temperature soon rises, so I can ride it at high speed in the wet without any worries. I've put 8,000 km on them and they're still OK, and the comfort seat has turned it into a GT.
This bike is at ease in all areas compared to the 1200 bandit and zrx that I've had the opportunity to try, that's my opinion.
Its negative point may be that some say it's a bit linear compared with the other two.

Une routière de course!
French gloplgop91 Model 2002
2002 model bought in 2007 with 19,000km. Gray, bridle and all.
Today it has a special color, 81,000km, bracelets and a full polyester fairing.

NO mechanical problems! If you drive hard, avoid Michelin Pilot Road 2 or 3.

Oil change every 5000km for me, a Fournales behind. An ultra-high bubble.

This bike is very reliable (but check the white electrical plug on the left under the tank, it melts and you have to solder the red wire that comes from the alternator, otherwise you'll break down sooner or later), consumes very little fuel (6L on average), is comfortable alone or in a duo, and protects very well with a thick bubble.

It has a practical center stand, very good suspension for the road (the Fournales makes it even better), is easy to ride and performs well enough.

The same bike at 200kg would be its replacement. Today, I can only think of the Kawa ZX1000 as a replacement, but it doesn't have the practical stand. And it's still heavy.

coming from the 600 fazer I wanted to converse this versatility with more torque and well I was not disappointed, it is only 10kg more than the 600, a hair taller and that's good for me (1m85) it's not a beginner's bike, I'm on my 4th. To sum up, it's at ease everywhere, in town, a real bike, very good on the road, 300 klm with a full tank and a high bubble if you're a heavy rider, 25,000 km in the year I've had it, not too greedy in terms of consumables if you ride normally, you can do the little maintenance yourself, of course from time to time, because it's got a hypersport heart, less brutal than the original, but it still pushes very hard. In conclusion, the chassis handles like a roadster, is as comfortable as a tourer, and the r1 engine has been toned down but is still usable, a real Swiss Army knife. Rating : 5/5

I ride a 2003 faz1000 with its youthful look compared to its competitors like the bandit 1200 ( ^^ no style) in short the faz1000 holds its reputation well like its little sister the 600,
The faz 1000 is a two-in-1, whether you start off in pepere mode or in attack mode, you won't be noticed! whether alone or in pairs, it's a fighter jet!

This bike looks more like a roadster. The engine is very linear but powerful and has just the right amount of torque. Personally, it's the chassis in particular that I find fabulous and that I wouldn't have guessed at first glance: it's very rigid, the masses are superbly distributed and the duo is very easy. It's very precise and much more agile than I expected. To top it all off, the suspension is quite good (with multiple adjustments) and the braking is very incisive. The dual-light illumination is above average. All in all, it's the queen of sporty versatility, with a feeling of ease and safety. I hope to keep it for a long time to come, as it's 11 years old and has 55,000 km too. Its only faults are related to its age: choke start and no ABS... but its looks are still up to scratch once the indicators have been replaced by LEDs. should i invest in 10w40 synthetic or semi-synthetic oil...knowing that i would change the oil myself every year, regardless of mileage...???
thank you...

Late reply (4 months later!) to lolopepone: it's not advisable to use car oil because, like almost all motorcycles, the fzs 1000 is fitted with a clutch immersed in engine oil. However, car oils have antifriction agents that are incompatible with motorcycle clutches. So you have to use motorcycle oil with a different composition. Personally, I use the recommended Motul 5100 oil, but in 10w50 instead of 10w40, which is 100% synthetic. The highest index indicates the oil's ability to maintain viscosity at high temperatures, so it's better for summer use... Rating : 5/5

Grey 2004 model in full power, revamped with R1-style engine cowl, wheelwiper and wheel arch, led indicators and double devil superimposed.
It's my best bike, we're in 2013, I've had it since early 2005 and I can't think of any other compromise that satisfies me as much as this flawless machine! Fuel consumption between 5l and 6.5l depending on riding style. 21l fuel tank and range well over 300 km! Top speed easily reached over a few km: 250 km/h (for more, you need a lot of space). Not too heavy and comfortable for two. Impeccable duo, impeccable range, super docile under 4000 rpm and super crazy after 7000 rpm. Between 4,000 and 7,000 we're in pre-attack mode. I'm on pilot power front and rear. Very reasonable maintenance costs: a real pleasure.
I'm waiting for the cross plane, but I'm afraid it's going to be more exclusive, and that Yamaha will sacrifice real duo ability to the fashion of the moment, unless they have the intelligence to make an s (fazer) different from the n (naked), especially in terms of seat and tank capacity.

I've been riding it for 3 years now, and it's a real joy!
The 1000 is racy and fluid, sporty and cushy, lively and supple, but above all economical and super reliable!
55.000 km and it purrs like a new cat!
Dedicated to those who want watts without breaking their back with a hyper sport!
It's easy to place, and even forgives a few mistakes - it's a real toy! And when it comes to cornering, I can't even begin to tell you how it handles on a pilot road 3! The more you lay it down, the more it goes; it's just incredible!
If I change it, it's for a 2013 Fazer!

Versatile Supple Pleasant It kicks ass Be careful with the license Correct braking Less power and felling than the ZRX 1100 but that's not the main purpose of this Tomo
A bit greedy on fuel consumption, but that's fine when you like it

i've got 150,000km on my Fazer, yes a hundred and fifty thousand and all on my ass since 2003, it's a bike I love and no mechanical worries apart from general wear and tear. tires every 6,000km, chain kit every 50-20,000km, and the brakes well not often either lol!

Hello,
I bought this bike in July 2011, 45.000 Km, first hand, clamped.
Motorcyclist for over 20 years, but without a bike for 6 years, I bought for fun a Yamaha Super Ténéré XTZ 750, obviously, after a few months, I was missing at least 2 cylinders and a handful of nags ...
I was already in love with the Fazer spirit, and then I tried this machine...
A rail-mounted bike, fabulous handling, awesome engine torque, watts everywhere, perfect braking... In fact, an extraordinary bike!
Now I've got 53,000 km on it, unbridled, all-road 3 front and rear, and I don't need to tell you what a beast it is...
Economical, road-going, sporty, easy-going and a great duo, in short, an excellent compromise for those who want to have fun, whether wise or foolish...

I've had a 2001 FZS1000 for a year now and I don't regret a thing... I live in the Var and work in Marseille. So I take the famous N8, full of curves. I put Pirelli SC2 tires on the front and rear, which wear out quickly but grip well... I've also got a MIG pot and the noise is just too good. Nothing to say about this bike, it's a pure delight... hey biker friends, good evening !!! well it's been 7 months since i got my 1000 i've been able to compare it to my old 13xjr and my old R1 which were also from 2004 and it's really the best compromise !!! exellante machine in full of course, good road holding with dunlop, reasonable fuel consumption and very good character !!! i find the brakes a little soft at the front so install avia hoses. i'm just impatient to put an akra manifold because i'm just happy with the muffler which is there only for my little ears !!! voilou !!! bonne bourres a tout le monde et hésiter a pourrir sur la route ceux qui ne roule pas en yamaha Rating : 5/5

I just got out of a 750 SRAD and bought this superb bike (1000Fazer Full) three months ago, and I'm telling you, it's a blast. My only two complaints are the saddle, which hurts my ass, and what you get in the face after 140km/h
It's bad enough that we're the only country in Europe to restrict our bikes, but when on top of that, any local can afford a car with as many riders as there are idiots on the road...who are we kidding!

French yannou Model 2001
Hello bikers! I've only had my faz' for 4 months, but it's a blast! It's the ultimate in versatility. As for the faults in my opinion: limited wind protection without a high bubble (I prefer it that way, it calms the acute arsouillitis of having my arms stretched out...), no engine T°C (on a bike of this class, it would have done), very expressive engine ok, but lacking in character: it's still a 4-cylinder, so less feeling than with a V Twin for example (I'm coming off an SVS). But I'm very happy with it, the only thing that would make me advise you not to buy this bike is that I don't like to see the same bike as me on every street corner...that aside, go for it!
As for the 320, I'm laughing my head off...but superskoof, don't laugh, my first brel was a 103SP with a pump-action kenji!
Bonne route à tous,
Yannou

French fendlabise Model 2001
this bike is madness. no need to buy a sports bike. The FZR has inherited almost everything from the R1, with the added comfort. it's always funny to see sportbike owners resting their lumbar vertebrae every 150 kms at freeway rest areas. the comfort of the FZR means you don't have to. it looks great, even if it's tending to go out of fashion a bit. the new FZR 1000s should be equipped with fuel-injected engines, and purists are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new model. for my part, it'll be hard to dethrone the current one, but you have to live with the times. French liam Model 2001
i've had my 1000 since the summer of 2005. it's great on the whole, but there's one big problem: fuel consumption. with a full tank and driving more or less hard, it normally does 240 km max, whereas with the same fazer 600 i was doing 340 km! the blase. but that's because it's a 1000, it drinks! mais bon ca vaut! le mouillé est excecrable comme elle a de la patate il faut doser sinon tu ramasse car un ecart ne pardonne pas j'ai des michelein pilot road et sur mouillé c la meme galère qu'avec d'autre alors leur fameuse pub ou tu prends un virage serré à 90 km ! it's all bullshit! outside, in the dry, it grips perfectly well. comfort is there, but sometimes if you put your legs too far forward and want to put your feet on the ground, you catch the end of the saddle on the tank. it's a pain, but you get used to it. cold starting is sometimes hard, especially if it's cold, you have to put the choke on, which I never did with the fazer 600. those are the only problems you can encounter.
everything else is fine

mine's a free version. at 200 km/h i stopped because i was afraid for my license
it's powerful and pleasant.

I have 130,000 km on my Fazer 1000. In fact, I bought it only recently. It's a delight! The engine loves revs and really pushes hard. 2 riding styles are offered to the rider; the 1st is from 1800rpm to 7000rpm, where you roll on the torque, the 2nd is much more violent and the engine expresses itself fully up to 11500rpm. Your arms are getting longer...... Equipment to bring along: clutch, wheel wiper, pot (I have a Yoshimura in the high position). The sound is fabulous and the mouth...... In short, it's an inexpensive bike (6.5l / 100km with cool driving -with Mom-) and it works really hard. What a pleasure! Enjoy the ride. Fred Rating : 5/5

Let's get back to business. if I could give you a few tips for this bike: _higher bubble (aeromax: a little more protection than the original, but nice, sporty look) _more comfortable seat (aiglon's or moillo "kifkif") _and don't forget to unbolt it _and above all, a nice output sprocket (mig high) or something else _ a more comfortable seat (aiglon's or moillo" kifkif") _ a nice pot (mig high) or something else _ don't forget to unbolt _ and above all, a smaller gearbox output pinion With all this, I'm really into sports bikes (r1 , 1000 gex , 1000 cbr ,etc...)and I'm not kidding, ciao and see you soon on the road. _ Rating : 5/5
