presentation of the 125 ETX 2000

the APRILIA ETX is a trail bike available in blue/grey and yellow/black that weighs around 120 kg. Quite tall, it requires a good 1.75 m to be flat-footed. The ETX is a very powerful 125 with 15 hp, but this can be increased to 26 hp after a good break-in and a little de-bridging. Acceleration is where all the ETX's power lies, and once up to speed, it pushes hard (for a 125 engine, of course). Top speed quickly reaches 120, which is more than respectable in this trail segment. The noise remains that of a 2-stroke, but is quite pleasant.

the ETX has impeccable roadholding, from all angles: you can take as much as you like, and it still holds! IMPRESSIVE! Large-diameter upside-down forks and 2-disc braking provide fast, powerful stopping power while maintaining good stability. Handlebar-mounted starter (very practical), steering lock with switch, headlight call, but no reserve indicator.

expect 5 to 6 liters of fuel consumption. That's a bit high, but in fact it's the same for any other 125 2-stroke, but compared to the machine's performance, it's not that much. Plan to change the piston ring every 10,000 km (€250 including overhaul and labor) and piston ring every 20,000 (€400). More expensive than a 4-stroke, but incomparable in terms of feel, performance and driving pleasure. Reliable, as long as you let it warm up and respect the maintenance, this Aprilia can be found at very interesting prices. Having owned several 125s (Varadero, TDR, Daelim VT...), I find this one gives more value for money.

This is a sporty trail bike. It doesn't need much for those who want to enjoy enduro riding. I'd recommend changing the fork oil for a thicker one, a shorter transmission and enduro tires.

The only negative point about this bike is its rear shock absorber, which won't take a passenger in enduro mode. But then, you'd have to have the idea of wanting to be two-up on this type of bike!

very, very nice bike, very sturdy, it was the 1st 350 to have a clutch, a bit heavy for the trails though Rating : 5/5

I bought this bike in 1999, I was very happy as soon as I left the dealer, except that after 17km, 1st breakdown...
I got her unstuck, and it's true that when she's moving, she's not kidding about the speed, the handling is impeccable, and she's a champion when it comes to the fragility of the engine. After 4 years of marriage to this machine, the engine is tightening on practically all models. The piston bearings are defective from the outset. Apart from all these worries, I've been happy to share a bit of my road with her. Now it's time to say goodbye, but I'll miss her all the same, she was really great!

My first 125cc, I love it, I tried the other custom 4T...calves!!!!
Funny thing, the big cubes wave at me as if I were one of them, except at stops and lights...

i bought this beautiful machine new in 1997 or 98, and had it debrided immediately. It's a real champion on many levels...the top 125cc in 2T. I reach top speeds of 140 km/h....c is super, and although reputedly fragile after debriding... it's still operational and as beautiful as ever Rating : 5/5
French jm arc Model 2001
In my opinion, the engine and chassis have nothing to do with each other. The chassis could take a 350! Too heavy, and I'd love to have the engine on an Aprilia Rs! Rating : 5/5
