presentation of the RS 660 Limited Edition 2022
Apart from the Pikes Peak race and Motocross / Supercross, it's quite rare for a manufacturer to communicate about its performance on the other side of the Atlantic. We did have a Bostrom replica with the Ducati 998, but apart from that...
Then Aprilia landed in the States with its RS 660 and kicked everyone's ass. It's time to celebrate, with a limited series called "Stars & Stripes". Better equipped, the young RS gains a high bubble to better protect the rider, a matching seat cover to turn the passenger and give a sportier look, and a commemorative badge at the top of the tank.
Its American flag-inspired paint scheme is not taken from the Twins Cup machine, where Kaleb De Keyrel has made a name for himself. The graphics come from the bike that took part in the Aprilia RS 660 Trophy final at the CIV in Vallelunga. The Minnesota rider was invited to the Wild-Car to thank him for his domination in the US.
The Up&Down shifter is already standard on the RS 660. This special edition comes with a software accessory that enables it to be used as a reverse shifter, simply by loading a program instead of having to replace parts.
The RS 660 Limited Edition will be available in a limited edition of 1,500 units. The serial number can be found under the contactor.
It's been a smashing debut in MotoAmerica competition. The mutinous Aprilia has taken 10 wins from 13 races. A true Marquez-style score from the old days. But right from the start, the competition had something to worry about, with a level of performance that wasn't exactly fair. Faced with the RS 600spitting out 100 horsepower as standard, the other riders were clutching MT-07s and SV 650s.
From the outset, the Noale bike also came with a nice package. Aluminum perimeter frame, inverted fork with Brembo 4-piston radial brake calipers, serious swingarm and electronics: TFT screen, 5 riding modes, cornering ABS, engine brake management, traction control, cruise control and 6-axis inertial unit.
Makes you wonder how the others managed to win the other 3 races...
N.B.: unlike the standard RS 660, the Limited Edition is not A2 (35 kW) compatible.
