presentation of the Tuono 660 2022

The 660 Tuono is a sparkling roadster, a credit to the Noale-based manufacturer, and a real wild dog among medium-displacement roadsters. With its small twin and big potential, this roadster promises to be hot.

Not surprising, given the family it comes from. It's the little brother of the Tuono V4 1100, a distant cousin of the RSV4 and the dizygotic twin of the sporty RS 660.
It was presented as a concept at the end of 2019. We knew then that it was in the pipeline for commercialization soon. This Tuono has landed in a market where all the tricks are fair game, the machines are as pugnacious as you could wish, and where young wolves come to hone their weapons. A highly strategic location. A boon for the Italian company, which has proved its worth.

This mid-size Tuono boasts a highly successful silhouette. It's a stripped-down version of the RS. With an almost identical fork head, prominent shoulders and a high hoof, the bike can't be said to be stripped down. In days gone by, this was known as a streamlined roadster. Today, it's more or less a streetfighter. Above all, with the engine on board, fun and efficiency are not far off. With its triple optics, this Tuono looks like a nitrous oxide-fuelled breakfast hare. Under these side panels, the quest for aerodynamic efficiency has led to the grafting of a system of internal winglets to channel airflow. The sporty DNA is there, and only the passenger will complain. The rear end is much more about style than comfort.

Aprilia Tuono 660 it's clear that the RS 660 's twin is a great success. This sort of half-V4 of the RSV4 is a mill that knows how to please. Its 270° timing gives it added character.
Compared to the RS, Aprilia has reduced the engine's power by 5 bhp, leaving 95. It's the rule in this kind of filiation: you lose a little power to (often) gain torque. But not here. Maximum torque is the same as on the sporty model, at 6.83 mkg. To compensate for this loss, Noale has shortened the transmission for greater acceleration and acceleration.

Let's take a good look at his 95 grunts and enjoy them. On the one hand, because it allows A2 clamping without complication. Secondly, because the engine's output is prodigious. 95 or 100 horsepower from a 660 cm3 block is formidable. The Z 650 or MT-07 with the same displacement are just over 70 hp.

Aprilia Tuono 660 Given its price of 10,599 euros, just a little less than that of the RS, the Tuono 660 is clearly not aimed at the MT-07, 660 Trident or SV 650 sector; more directly at the category above. Rather, it's got its derch' between two chairs, its engine performance a notch below the 900. But that's where you need to be. On the other hand, the machine will be delighted to engage in brawls with duelists of the Street Triple calibre.
In the absence of adequate torque and a power deficit in the 800 / 900 sector, Aprilia pulls out another trump card: its chassis.

Weighing in at just 183 kilos, the Tuono is built on the same base as the sportbike, with the same weight. The aluminum spar frame uses the engine as a load-bearing element and is attached to Kayaba suspension components. These have been recalibrated for roadster use. A different offset for the steering column should alter agility somewhat.
with handlebars instead of bracelets, the Tuono straightens its rider for a less constraining position... but not necessarily less calm. Aprilia is a master of chassis; we expect top-notch performance.

Since the RS 660 is so well equipped with electronics, why bother doing anything else for the roadster? As a result, this little worm arrives with plenty to talk about in terms of power assistants. No mercy for insecurity. There's a ride-by-wire throttle, ABS, multi-stage traction control, anti-wheeling, cruise control, engine brake management and five Driving Modes (3 for road - 2 for track).
The technology transfer also includes the color TFT display and daytime visual signature. For the shifter and IMU enabling cornering ABS, adaptive headlights and angle-sensitive traction control, you'll have to go to the options section.

The manufacturer's 660 Tuono is not exactly discreet. An acid green-gold color and two Superpôle replica decals. After the semi-failure of the Shiver, it's time to surprise from the moment you enter the track, and to puff up your chest when you leave the stage. We suspected, and we're no longer surprised, that this Tuono is surprising a lot of people.

First motorcycle. Super agile, powerful at low revs, throaty sound, fantastic acceleration when you open up the throttle... A passion. Vs Factory: rear shock absorber a little harsh (I replaced it with an STX 40), front fork heavier (I put in a NIX30), adding the shifter is essential. This bike is a marvel. The original brakes are excellent. I treated myself and fitted it with a Corsa Corta and Stylema. It's my first motorcycle, and I'll keep it no matter what! I can only recommend it, especially because now only the Factory remains, and its lively and flexible engine mapping is sure to inspire confidence. Go for it! Rating : 5/5

Wonderful bike, the review is for the bridled version to help young bikers like me :)
For me, it's one of the best A2 motorcycles, because it lets you experience something very special. When you twist the throttle, you can feel and hear the engine's response.
for my part, the engine is full at every level, and the power assistants allow us to customize it to our liking, and it's just magnificent. if you don't like engine braking, take it off, and the rear ABS is the same
the first one even lifts very well and the front braking is just a jewel. stoppie is even possible by removing the rear abs :)
now that i've got it, i can't wait for the gateway.

Pourquoi tant d'occasion ?

Hi everyone, I'm very interested in this bike but I'm wondering why there are so many of them on the market, given that the model is recent... In fact, it seems that not many people keep them. If you have a reassuring explanation, I'm interested. Rating : 5/5
Juste géniale !
After owning a fz6 bandit 600 svartpilen 401 cbr600 sv650 tigersport 1050 and royal enfield gt 650 I've just bought a tuono 660 in full and I've just finished the break-in and here are my first impressions after 2000km in 10 days

Agile! A real bike, with electronics that aren't too intrusive or frustrating. The engine is a delight, with a real torquey character that takes off with a deafening intake noise from 8000rpm

The only negative point is a tendency to steering under hard acceleration or when the front axle is relieved (bump or high speed)

Highly recommend.

Une belle polyvalence
French Yann63 Model 2021
Aprilia's missing link, a bike that can do everything well and has real qualities in terms of versatility. Formidable in town, where it's easy to handle from the very first turns of the wheel, light, an excellent brakeman, comfortable and very intuitive. Excellent on small roads, where its handling and braking set the bar very high, and the modes allow you to find the right way to take advantage of the right amount of throttle. Once again, it's super easy to take along, to brake or to correct on the corner, even if it's bumpy... When the going gets tough, I found it a little soft on suspension and a little short on power, but then it reminds us that it's not the most powerful bike in the range, and that's what its big sister is there for. In everyday use, it's a pure marvel, but I would have liked a more demonstrative engine, even if it sounds good for a parallel twin. The strong points: comfort, with even a semblance of protection, roadholding and above all agility, not to mention top-level braking, aided by its low weight. I like it a lot, but it's a bit expensive... I had a hard time returning the keys after the test drive! Rating : 4/5
