presentation of the 1100 TUONO V4 2022

this is one of the most explosive roadsters on the market. A true beast whose pedigree has never changed: a hypersport with high handlebars and less fairing. The first Tuono was derived from the RSV 1000 R; the current one from the 1100 RSV4. When it comes to provoking the fire, the elements and the tears of the sport, Aprilia's wildcat threatens as long as it defends its territory.

This time, he goes off on a tangent. A little water in the Centerba for the standard version, while the Factory keeps the liquor pure. The Tuono 1100 is evolving profoundly, and surprisingly so

it has become a beautiful roadster. More elegant, with more presence, less brutal in this standard version. From now on, it seems intent on making a place for itself among both sports enthusiasts and families of noble lineage. Its look is reminiscent of the RS 660, its body of the RSV4, its mood of a predator in constant tension. Except that the Tuono V4 is no longer just a wild beast. It has evolved to the point where it comes into conflict with its most mechanical instincts. Like some characters unable to choose between two identities, the motorcycle has split into two to qualify its uses. One will hunt cheetahs; the other will go for a ride while burning up the bends

Aprilia 1100 TUONO V4 2021 the big Tuono offers a new kind of family friendliness. It announces it immediately! Adorned with a straight, protective-smelling bubble, it gives the impression of a roadster rather than a streetfighter. The same goes for the rear. With its wide seat, low footrests and imposing handrail for a guest, you can see that the notion of a passenger has been taken into account in the design of this machine. Now that's unprecedented. Shocking, almost. Just yesterday, dreaming of and enjoying the Tuono duo sounded like science fiction. This time, it's believable, because it wants to do it.
The Factory version is much more spartan, with lower handlebars, a much shorter bubble and a "divorce"-style rear seat. Its rear tire also defines a more pronounced connection with the road, being 10 mm wider, i.e. 200 mm. Even acceleration has a smoother flavour, thanks to the longer final drive ratio on this somewhat "Tourismé" Tuono.

But back to the crucible of performance. This bike has more user-friendly attributes than before, but there's still a volcano ready to blow up in your face. Under the 18.5-liter tank, it rumbles, it fulminates, it lacerates the organs. The 1078 cm3 V4 is this machine's joy and fury. 175 horses are locked away, eager to turn every demand into an adrenaline rush.
However... Aprilia is taking advantage of the RSV4 and Tuono V4 mutation to re-establish a performance frontier. The sportbike must remain a notch above the rest, in order to assert its splendor. For it, the privilege of a major V4 upgrade, with cubic capacity increased to 1099 cm3. The Tuono retains yesterday's engine, but with a more than noticeable refresh.

Aprilia 1100 TUONO V4 2021 it 's a heart with racing-engine genetics. The valves are fitted with lighter spring cups, for a 300 rpm increase in speed. Connecting rods, vilo and berlingot are now running at 13,800 rpm. A lighter, more streamlined exhaust contains a more efficient catalytic converter to comply with Euro5. As for engine management, it is entrusted to a Magneti-Marelli 11MP unit four times more powerful than its predecessor.
So, no loss for the V4: 175 hp at 11,350 rpm and 12.3 mkg at 9,000 rpm. Just a little extra effort for the rev counter: maximum power is 350 rpm later.

As one of the most active brands in terms of riding electronics, Aprilia upgrades the Tuono's: the APRC package is refined in terms of efficiency and gains an AEB (Aprilia Engine Brake) engine brake control. All in all, the technological strategy of the furious roadster from Noale includes a dozen co-pilots:
- 8-level ATC traction control,
- 5-level AWC wheeling control,
- 3 AEM engine maps, each with its own character and power distribution,
- 3-level AEB engine brake management,
- ALC standing start assistant adjustable on 3 levels,
- Up&Down shifter AQS,
- APL pit speed limiter,
- ACC cruise control,
- Cornering ABS,
- 3-stage RLM stop control
And lurking in the midst of all this is an inertial unit to boost the efficiency of the assistants.

Aprilia 1100 TUONO V4 2021 but as we sometimes (often) don't want to get bogged down adjusting everything one by one, the firms have created Driving Modes to simplify all this. On the old Tuono, there were 3, but now Aprilia has doubled the number. there are 6 Modes, grouped into 2 categories to meet different needs.
- There are 3 for the road: "Tour" for everyday use, "Sport" for ubiquitous tone and "User" to program your own mode.
- Then there are 3 more track-specific maps: "Race", based on the brand's racing experience and allowing the Tuono V4 to give it all it's got, and "Track 1" and "Track 2" for two personalized track configurations.

The electronics spread their authority over power, while the chassis strives to transform it. Always imperial, the double-perimeter aluminum frame continues its high-flying performance. An RSV4 backbone, it holds virtually every millstone on the market in its stride. The Sachs suspension components also play their part. The 43 mm inverted fork and monoshock, both adjustable in all directions, are adapted to the score and the less virulent rhythm than those of the Factory.

Aprilia 1100 TUONO V4 2021 Big braking gear, among the most formidable in the sector. Powerful and remarkable Brembo M50 4-piston calipers torture 330 mm discs - enough to muscle your arms... or tetanize them, depending on your resistance. The rear, more discreet, makes do with a 2-piston caliper and a 220 mm disc.
The new feature of this chassis is the swingarm. All-new, with inverted reinforcement and a simplified construction scheme. Consisting of 3 welded elements instead of 7, its shape and design increase transverse rigidity by 48% and optimize traction. Here too, parts are transferred directly from the hypersport.

A few minor improvements round off the festivities. New controls simplify steering assistance settings. The TFT screen has been enlarged from 4.3 to 5 inches, offers two display themes (road or track) and can be fitted with the optional Aprilia MIA app - for controlling your smartphone, managing calls, music, navigation, recording routes and analyzing telemetry data. Last but not least, the lighting has been made even more intelligent: additional headlights illuminate the inside of curves, front indicators are integrated into the daytime visual signature and light up (front and rear) in the event of emergency braking.
In terms of ergonomics, the fuel tank is narrower for better holding and braking.

With the passage of time, high-powered roadsters have become like sports bikes: extreme. Aprilia had the judicious idea of dividing its hyper-roadster into two entities: radical or reconcilable. In the fire engine segment, here's a model that spits out fury while revealing a sense of tourism. Atomizing the road and taking the lady along at the same time is no laughing matter.

A gift...
French Userhosted Model 2024
At 38, I've had more than 20 bikes of all styles. This becane is a real success, an excellent compromise. Hyper-handling, powerful engine, Sachs suspensions are already top-notch (I can't even imagine with the Factory's Ohlins!). Minor drawbacks: fuel consumption well above that mentioned in the tech sheet, and after only 800 km, I had to install an ESE for the exhaust valve, as this rascal closed by itself and caused the engine to cut out on certain downshifts... "All in all, an excellent result, and to enjoy it, I had to lower (or deactivate) a number of electronic aids. For the price, IMBATTABLE! Rating : 5/5

Owner since last year. Easy to ride and lightning acceleration. Pleasantly surprised by the excellent suspension. The only installation required was two small suitcases. I've been riding since 1969, I'm 72 1/2 years old and the seat height, which makes me balance on my tiptoes at a standstill, bothers me. As for all the functions available, the owner's manual doesn't go into much detail, and even the dealer couldn't explain it to me. A pleasant bike that I wouldn't recommend to beginners, as it's too spirited. Rating : 5/5

While we're on the subject, I'd like to know if the V4 Tuono's sport-touring logic extends to luggage. I'd be interested. Rating : 5/5
