presentation of the YB9 600 Bellaria 1990
Founded in 1966 by Messrs Bianchi, Morini and Tamburini, Bimota specializes in high-performance motorcycles equipped with third-party powertrains.
many of its models were designed exclusively for competition. For once, the Bellaria reconciles performance and everyday use. While the chassis is an adaptation of the frame designed for the Yamaha FZR 750cc and 1000cc engines, it features an additional pair of footpegs and a two-seater seat, a rarity for Bimota until now.
its lines, though still close to those of its larger YB6 and YB8 siblings, show a certain elegance thanks to the violet metallic paintwork that contrasts with the Green White Red typical of the Italian brand.
the Yamaha FZR 600's engine is freed up by the use of an in-house exhaust system, giving it 5 more horsepower and torque across the rev range. The chassis is also more agile and lively than the one that gave it its engine. It also loses a few kilos in the process. The elegant plumage conceals an extraordinary ramage. It outperformed the competition of the time on every level.
unfortunately, this excellence has a downside. The Bellaria is rare and as expensive as it is sublime.
it was replaced in 1994, after 145 units produced, by the YB9 SR then SRI (equipped with electronic fuel injection).
