presentation of the R 1200 C 1998

Even in custom form, a BM is still a BM. As well as having set up a factory in the States to manufacture its X5s, the Bavarian brand wants to conquer American motorcyclists. And there's nothing better than a big custom... With the class and technology of Munich. First of all, let's face it: the design department has created a superb motorcycle. More in the cruiser spirit, the C adopts a big twin-cylinder of almost 1200 cm3 (as is customary in this genre). The increase in displacement hasn't benefited power - far from it - but rather the twin's presence in the mid-range.

from idle to the red zone, it's a success, although the smoothness is somewhat lacking. While power is delivered without brutality, the injection-transmission duo is noticeably temperamental at low speeds. Where the R 1200 C makes up for this is in pampering the rider. Superbly installed, he can enjoy serene roadholding and impeccable finish. As always with BM, braking is impeccable. The rear suspension is less so, proving too firm in its damping. The rear seat cushion embryo, failing to do its job properly, can be raised to support the rider's back. But if you want a real duo, you'll have to opt for the passenger seat. This splendid cruiser is also available as an 850 cm3 twin.

Moto de prince
French Didi Model 2004
Hello everyone. I've had this bike for several months now. Used to large-capacity customs, this one is a delight! People often say to me in the street when I park, wouhaa! It's magnificent! You don't see many like this, and it's true that it's beautiful. A timeless motorcycle, put it right in the middle of a Harley Davidson and wait and listen... It's an MSF! Yes, a motorcycle from the future. When you're on it, you feel like a prince, sitting comfortably, chest high, looking straight and virile... all the other bikes are there to accompany you on the road like faithful motorcycle servants. I'm telling you, my friends... If you're lucky enough to come across one, just bow to it. He'll recognize you. The end. Rating : 4/5

French R1200C Model 2004
Splendid, original styling (subjective, of course!!). Road use: pure pleasure, supple, light, comfortable, reliable, sufficiently powerful on road and freeway
For me, getting behind the handlebars of this bike is a remedy against gloom and constraints.

just bought this bike and am very disappointed, lack of power, I had a Honda 750 magna, very maneuverable and powerful bike, bm rating super comfort and braking, but I am still too young (56 years) for this type of bike.
Very very disappointed...

BMW R 1200 C - dispo en A2 ?
French eric T Model 2004
Hello,

with a view to obtaining an A2 licence, is this bike
adaptable to this licence?
is it reasonable to start with this type of large motorcycle?
it's for pleasure riding
(I'm 50) and I think it's magnificent

French Romain Sibot
Hello Eric,
You'd have to check directly with BMW to see if it can be bridled in 34 or 48hp.
The biggest disadvantage of this style of bike to start with is the weight, even if it's offset by a fairly low center of gravity. If that doesn't scare you, I can't see any other disadvantage for touring use.
If the latter isn't available, there are a few medium-displacement customs available (Kawasaki Vulcan or EN500, Yamaha Dragstar 650 and 535 Virago) and Harley has released an A2 license range.

I bought a 1200C in 2000. Since then, I've covered 115,000 km with it: nothing but happiness... except for the clutch, which has been overhauled twice, and the state of the chrome. I couldn't sell it, it's too beautiful (ivory color like JB 007's). Otherwise, I also ride a Honda 1000 CBX, another rarity, but oh so different! In short, I'm so happy with these beautiful babies! French camus Model 2004
A superb bike...but an anaemic engine.

It has a lot of torque and starts in 3rd gear, but other than that, the engine just doesn't hold up (no pun intended). Having several bikes, including an Aquila 650, the Bmw 1200 gives me the illusion of going from a Porsche to an R5.

-The superb German bike weighs 256kg for 61 horsepower and does 0/100 in 5.3 seconds.
-The superb Korean bike weighs 220kg for 82hp and does 0/100 in 2.7 seconds.

That's where the problem lies, after having tasted the comfort of a custom bike with the acceleration of a sports bike, the R1200C bores me.

It's a shame, because it looks absolutely brilliant!

My faithful 1998 BMW R1200C, equipped with the famous 1170 cm³ air/oil-cooled flat-twin, has accompanied me from Tunisia through more than 22 European countries. With its 61 horsepower, generous torque and unique BMW styling, it always combined comfort and character, and was an eye-catcher everywhere: a true princess of the road. Easy to maintain, it enabled me to become autonomous in all mechanical matters - oil changes, valve adjustments, cardan shafts, brakes... all home-made. Thousands of kilometers traveled together, borders crossed, memories engraved: more than a motorcycle, a travel companion and a part of my life. Rating : 5/5

French chipiok Model 2004
With the new neo-retro trend, the vintage side of the BM is still having an incredible effect! It's always a thrill to see passers-by marvel at this unique design, especially as it becomes so rare. But the real joy, beyond the obvious riding pleasure, lies in knowing that you're not riding it to flatter your ego or impress the gallery (follow my gaze), but out of love for the very essence of motorcycling. I own one from 2000, and my R1200C is to motorcycling what Cartier is to jewelry. For me, it's beautiful, very beautiful, the most beautiful motorcycle in the world ..............but like beautiful women and beautiful jewelry, it's expensive ......3700 e in one year, chrome cylinder heads out of order, catalitic pot out of order, oil leak from cylinder D base, chromes pitted here and there ..........when I bought it, the BM dealership told me Monsieur vous êtes chez BM pas chez MC do.........2 years later, I'd like to tell them that at MC do I've always gotten my money's worth........ I also have a 98 model. OK for the heaviness, OK for the chromes that get pitted, but what a face!!!! For the chrome, try N°0 steel wool with a renovating product like belgom or something else; it's nickel...chrome...

French filigrame Model 2004
I've owned one, and it's true that the chrome is of very poor quality, and the turn signals are made of chrome-plated plastic, which is lamentable for a machine of this price. I used to complain about the lack of fish when overtaking, often riding in a duo, and I sold it 3000kms later. It's true that it's pleasant to ride quietly. Rating : 5/5

Hi R 1200 C L owners,
I own a C L, Blue, from 2002, I have 24000km, great lighting, an ultra low seat (which suits me), my wife is a passenger, is delighted with the comfort, the quality of the material is without problem, I regret a tank a little small, the light comes on at 250 km, 5 5 liters per cent, super braking, tire inflation, front, 2.9 rear, 2.5, (to compensate for the heaviness of steering, manufacture of a center stand with a removable handle, long, all placed on a turntable on ball bearings, embedded in the floor of my garage, A super beautiful machine, See you soon bikers

I own a 98 model nothing before that I owned a Honda Shadow 750cc I'm very happy with it very easy to handle despite its weight a lot of torque and very reliable mechanics my odometer shows 25000km and still not the slightest problem consumption not too high despite the large displacement only small flaw are the chrome that are very poor quality compared to the purchase price very high, apart from that it's a beautiful machine because when I'm on a ride with friends, there is only for it.It's a pity that BMW is discontinuing production, but that's okay, because it will become a collector's bike in a few years' time. I have a 98 model, I've been looking at Japanese models on the market (Shadow, Intruder, Virago) and I came to the BMW out of curiosity (retro looks and avangard technology at the same time), because I found HDs excessively expensive (second-hand overcoating, spare parts, etc.)
but I'm having the same problem with BMWs
(dealers need to be told to stop believing that those who drive BMs are loaded)
The faults I notice come from the chrome that comes off like nail polish (rims, selectors, covers, chrome caps) and the pots turn blue too much and the battery

I'm taking this opportunity to place an ad, I'm looking for the little retractable sissibar, good price offer
