presentation of the R 1200 C 1998
Even in custom form, a BM is still a BM. As well as having set up a factory in the States to manufacture its X5s, the Bavarian brand wants to conquer American motorcyclists. And there's nothing better than a big custom... With the class and technology of Munich. First of all, let's face it: the design department has created a superb motorcycle. More in the cruiser spirit, the C adopts a big twin-cylinder of almost 1200 cm3 (as is customary in this genre). The increase in displacement hasn't benefited power - far from it - but rather the twin's presence in the mid-range.
from idle to the red zone, it's a success, although the smoothness is somewhat lacking. While power is delivered without brutality, the injection-transmission duo is noticeably temperamental at low speeds. Where the R 1200 C makes up for this is in pampering the rider. Superbly installed, he can enjoy serene roadholding and impeccable finish. As always with BM, braking is impeccable. The rear suspension is less so, proving too firm in its damping. The rear seat cushion embryo, failing to do its job properly, can be raised to support the rider's back. But if you want a real duo, you'll have to opt for the passenger seat. This splendid cruiser is also available as an 850 cm3 twin.

For me, getting behind the handlebars of this bike is a remedy against gloom and constraints. Rating : 5/5 Respond to R1200C

with a view to obtaining an A2 licence, is this bike
adaptable to this licence?
is it reasonable to start with this type of large motorcycle?
it's for pleasure riding
(I'm 50) and I think it's magnificent

You'd have to check directly with BMW to see if it can be bridled in 34 or 48hp.
The biggest disadvantage of this style of bike to start with is the weight, even if it's offset by a fairly low center of gravity. If that doesn't scare you, I can't see any other disadvantage for touring use.
If the latter isn't available, there are a few medium-displacement customs available (Kawasaki Vulcan or EN500, Yamaha Dragstar 650 and 535 Virago) and Harley has released an A2 license range.

i owned a 1996 Honda VT 1100 c2 shadow bought used in 2015 with 110 original km ! 10000km in 1 year
coming at the time from a suzuki vl 800 intruder.
to give an idea of the evolution:

i'm looking for spoke rims if you have any in a corner think of me thanks a plus Rating : 5/5 Respond to frinsiscote
It has a lot of torque and starts in 3rd gear, but other than that, the engine just doesn't hold up (no pun intended). Having several bikes, including an Aquila 650, the Bmw 1200 gives me the illusion of going from a Porsche to an R5.
-The superb German bike weighs 256kg for 61 horsepower and does 0/100 in 5.3 seconds.
-The superb Korean bike weighs 220kg for 82hp and does 0/100 in 2.7 seconds.
That's where the problem lies, after having tasted the comfort of a custom bike with the acceleration of a sports bike, the R1200C bores me.
It's a shame, because it looks absolutely brilliant!

I own a C L, Blue, from 2002, I have 24000km, great lighting, an ultra low seat (which suits me), my wife is a passenger, is delighted with the comfort, the quality of the material is without problem, I regret a tank a little small, the light comes on at 250 km, 5 5 liters per cent, super braking, tire inflation, front, 2.9 rear, 2.5, (to compensate for the heaviness of steering, manufacture of a center stand with a removable handle, long, all placed on a turntable on ball bearings, embedded in the floor of my garage, A super beautiful machine, See you soon bikers Rating : 5/5 Respond to chocteau
but I'm having the same problem with BMWs
(dealers need to be told to stop believing that those who drive BMs are loaded)
The faults I notice come from the chrome that comes off like nail polish (rims, selectors, covers, chrome caps) and the pots turn blue too much and the battery
I'm taking this opportunity to place an ad, I'm looking for the little retractable sissibar, good price offer
