presentation of the F 700 GS 2013

with its cousin, the F 800 GS, off on the road with its new look, the 650 wasn't about to sit back in its 4-year-old garb. Almost jealous, it didn't take long for her to express her wrath to the parent company. BMW took a closer look at the bike, brought out the toolbox, the silicon chip pliers and the Kw inflator. So, bye bye to the 6 and ½ GS, and make way for its 700 GS evolution.

born as a 650 and now upgraded to a 700, the BM actually plays with numbers, as its twin actually measures 798 cm3. There's no change in displacement from the old to the new generation, or from the F 800 GS, but the mapping has been revised to offer 4 more horsepower. The twin-cylinder boasts 75 hp at 7300 rpm, increased torque with 77 Nm at 5500 rpm (obtained 1000 rpm higher than on the 650), and a shortened sixth gear. The 800 GS also boasts a healthy dose of peachiness, with 85 rpm, to really set it apart.
To conclude this series of figures, the F 700 GS is already ready for the European A2 license: the engine can be limited to 48 hp.

with its spoked wheels, smaller front rim and reduced suspension travel, the F 700 GS is clearly less off-road-oriented than its 800 sibling. Its domain will be more asphalt, the city, and the ease of the trail to get away from everyday life. The 2013 evolution brings a big plus in terms of safety. A second front disc and disconnectable dual-channel ABS (standard) enhance braking performance. Then, by dipping into the options list, this GS transforms into a bionic machine. Depending on your desires and your wallet, you can add ADC tire pressure control, in-house ASC traction control and ESA automatic suspension adjustment - electronic refinements hitherto reserved for larger machines such as the R 1200 GS.
If you dig a little deeper into the (very extensive) list of options, you'll have enough to create a veritable showcase of the GS world. Among the most useful: Vario cases, heated grips, several types of bubble, saddles and engine shoes... There are three pages like that!

more fish, more braking, all in an almost unchanged chassis. The frame remains a tubular steel trellis connected to a conventional 41 mm fork and aluminum swingarm. The other axis of evolution is more stylistic and ergonomic. The F 700 GS features the new BMW commodos (with indicators on a single button, as on all other brands) and the smoked jars of the latest generation of Münich machines. The dashboard features redesigned dials, now displaying fuel level and engine temperature. As for the silhouette, the design office has reworked only the front of the bike. By modifying only the sides of the fairing and the duckbill, but with finesse and dynamism, the F 700 really gains in sex appeal.

safer, more powerful, sexier, the new F 700 GS takes up the torch from its 650 predecessor with greater aplomb. It's more than ready to make its mark on urban terrain, and to show off its technological baggage.

French Jeanlou Model 2017
Bought in 2020 with 11500kms, my 2017 F700GS now has 37000kms. I've just returned from a 2nd trip to Morocco where I rode 4500kms on mountain roads and tracks. I have no worries with this bike, which is very comfortable solo. As a duo, it's good for touring, but not for traveling far. I'm going back to Algeria and then Mauritania on it. It's equipped with BMW suitcases and top case, heated grips, crash protection kit, abs etc... In short, I'm very happy with it for the use I put it to. Rating : 3/5
Bonne à rien qui fait tout !
French PHIL34 Model 2015
A good-for-nothing, do-it-all bike...and that's what makes it so hard to change. Admittedly, I have a fully-equipped version, which is more top-of-the-range, with camel-bag, pot protector, sabot and high bubble, but 210kg in the city is appreciable. Pleasure on the open road, endless freeways (at legal speeds), easy maintenance, as is often the case with BMWs, to avoid the sledgehammer blows. 36,000 km without a care in the world of 4 to 5.5 l.
Metzé Tourance lasts 15,000 KM, but steering above 170, perhaps due to the high bubble and Top case. DON'T GO THERE! In my opinion, that's why BM's original bubble is so tiny...

perte de cargue sur la batterie
Excellent bike, good compromise
however, I have a problem with the battery losing charge and discharging after 48 hours without using it. BMW couldn't find the fault and I have to recharge it every 3 days or disconnect the battery when I'm away for more than a week.
i don't know if anyone has the same problem?

French quentosh Model 2017
I've been riding it for 3 years and 18,000 kms
reliable economical north course achieved with
easy good braking
the only reproach is that I have to equip it, which requires a substantial investment

700 souplesse et confort
French Matrixx Model 2017
Owner of a f800r, I had the opportunity to test the F700 GS as a duo on the road
1st impression: very smooth engine that responds when you need it, less brutal than the f800r (less jerky shifting), better wind protection and a more upright position, so less strain on the kidneys
Madame loved its comfort, especially the upright position

French Collpat Model 2016
Hello I have a new bmw 1200 gs 2016. I have problems when I change gear it accelerates by itself it remains at 4000 thousand revolutions 3 seconds and it drops by itself for the moment bmw has still not found the fault if you know anything about it I'm interested thank you very much Rating : 1/5
French Bluebird Model 2015
My first motorcycle, and what a pleasure it was.
Looks, comfort, reliability, ease of use, etc.
The only hitch was a slight lack of wind protection above 120 km/h.
This problem will soon be solved by replacing the original bubble with a higher one.

French Model 2013
Superb engine, top-notch chassis, but a jumbled look that really makes you think of DIY...
More conventional in presentation (and a little less expensive )BMW was a hit with this model... Neither a failure nor a success, in my opinion.
