when the R 1200 R looks around, it sees a liquid R 1200 GS, and it knows that this engine will soon come between its steel tubes. So the roadster wipes away a touch of nostalgia and splashes out on a special 90th anniversary series. It looks in its rear-view mirrors and sees its distant, first ancestor: the 500 R 32. The essentials are already there: the flat-twin, the cardan shaft transmission, the substantial price tag. The first BMW motorcycle in history churned out 8.5 horsepower - 90% of a century later, its cubic capacity has more than doubled and its power, 110 hp, has been multiplied by 13.

under its "90 Jahre BMW Motorrad" moniker, the R 1200 R once again plays on elegance and discretion. The colors chosen are dark, sapphire black and asphalt gray. A hint of granite grey on the cylinder heads and wheels, a hint of gold on the brake calipers and fork tubes, and the finishing touch: a 90-year-old plaque fixed to the fork crown, in place of the BMW emblem.

responsive and supple yet very pleasant to drive, superb roadholding, the only downside is the fuel consumption, given as 5.5 L/100, mine consumes 6.2 L/100. Titi 55 Model 2013

As the proud owner of an R1200R since November 2008, I can't fault it in the slightest. It's been my companion on all my journeys (mountain roads, main roads and freeways). I've been thinking of changing models, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed. Now all I have to do is look after it and keep it as long as possible.

Roulade et sensation

Pouillerot Model 2013

After 2 R1200RTs, I've rediscovered the pleasure of riding closer to the road, with a higher bubble so I can ride without swallowing too many flies, and great sensations on my own, as well as the pleasure of riding with a partner. ESA efficient depending on the road, what happiness!
