presentation of the K 1600 GTL Exclusive 2014

a motorcycle of excellence in the field of sport-tinged Grand Touring, the BMW K 1600 GTL raises its level of luxury even further in this Exclusive version. It takes the opportunity to unveil a number of exclusive features and innovations. All with the kind of class that only the Bavarian brand can distill, without going overboard with glitz and glamour.

the K 1600 GTL is a blend of 6-cylinder symphony, technology and opulence. Equipped as standard with 160 hp, a copious 17.8 mkg of torque, more than 12 mkg of which is available as soon as the throttle is turned 2 mm, and 3 driving modes, all that was missing was the bottom of the horn to savor the abundance. And now it's done. Exclusive here means extra equipment, which we should go into a little more detail about.

i'll spare you the slightly reworked instrumentation and the extra chrome touches. Let's focus instead on the passenger, who is the big winner of this + version. The Exclusive takes good care of his comfort: the seat is longer and wider, and a pair of armrests attach to the top case, as does a heated backrest in the lower section. For the rider, the treats are more technical. It's mainly the electronics that are getting stronger. A selection of items from the options catalog are fitted as standard. It starts with traction control, then the crew can take advantage of ESA II pilot-controlled suspension, back to the driver with tire pressure control and a plethora of solutions behind the headlight glass. These are self-adapting directional headlamps with xenon and LED daytime running lights, backed up by a pair of additional projectors on the sides of the fairing. Daytime running lights are activated automatically by a brightness sensor, or can replace the main headlight by manual action on the part of the driver. What's more, at dusk or when entering a tunnel, the motorcycle automatically switches to headlight mode.BMW K 1600 GTL Exclusive 2014

Is that all? No, you can ask even more of chips and sensors. Like Hill Start Control, for easy hill starts. Once activated, the gizmo uses the ABS to block the front brake, allowing the bike to wait quietly on the slope. Slam into gear or press the brake and the system disengages. Oh yes, be careful, it's not a parking brake; if you park the bike on a hill with this procedure, you're not sure to find it upright again once the ignition has been switched off.
Have you seen the new key? Hhhuummm, I smell extra functions. And they're called DWA anti-theft and Keyless Ride. Once the key is within 2 meters of the motorcycle (i.e., in the pannier, backpack or lady's curlers), the whole bike unlocks itself: steering, ignition, fuel filler flap and central locking. No need to put the key in the hatch to open it: just pull the lever.

luxury also means things that can be hidden away or made to look better without showing. Like the radio antenna now stashed in the top case, or the 4-coat paint job. What we can't quite digest is that the GPS is still in the accessories catalog. The latter has been considerably reduced.
The pinnacle of the BMW Motorrad range, this K 1600 GTL is a true showcase of motorcycle Grand Touring. These qualities will be negotiated at a firm price, but it's going to be very hard to find anything better.

Exceptional motorcycle, but there is a but unworthy for a motorcycle of this category to have such a slippery upholstery, for the rider and especially the passenger who must reposition and more dangerous in case of braking more or less pressed. It seems to me that Bmw responded favorably to a customer in June 2014 for the standard echg of it, thank you for your response customers or BMW Rating : 4/5

Has anyone found a solution for this saddle that slides like an ice rink, for the rider and worse for the passenger! Rating : 5/5
du bonheur !!!!
62,000 kms in one year, and nothing unpleasant to report. Of course, there are details that need to be reviewed: finger-adjustable mirrors, useless wind deflectors, unattractive armrests, pockets that are too low... but having tested a last-generation gold, frankly the BM is much better, there aren't a bunch of buttons !!!!
We've been to Corsica, Ireland and Slovakia
nothing but HAPPINESS !!!!
Of course, servicing and parts are expensive, but you know that as soon as you buy it, it's a "de luxe" BM.
Enjoy your ride!

where's the fun in motorcycling with these bikes that look more like big sedans, when will we see the introduction of 2 extra wheels? yes to touring bikes, but let's keep it simple, two suitcases and a top case, like in the good old days of simplicity, and not the escalation of the m\'as tu vu. exceptional bike but too many problems overall i love driving it but i've had a lot of problems and it's not over it's going back to the dealership next week the german rigor has been lost it's a shame because i'm afraid i won't be renewing the experience in the future because it spends more time at BM than riding Rating : 4/5

Passenger comfort is really too firm for a bike that claims to be ultra-comfortable. The firmness of the extra-high seat is a real faux pas, a far cry from the comfort of a Goldwing, what a shame!
as for the optional GPS, it's a real BMW rip-off, especially at this price

I also bought this bike at the end of April 2014 and I'm totally satisfied with it after having done 11500 kms because I was wondering about the tests reporting transmission jerks and noisy gearbox and well I'm maybe lucky but no problem.I've had a driving licence since 1972, so I've had a bit of everything, and with the K16 I'm really happy. The only drawback is the ugly armrests, which I've got rid of, and also for my wife, who's tall, the high position sends wind into her head. I'm looking for a possible competitor for outings. Moi j'aime
French Model 2014
Personally, I bought this bike a year ago, GTL version, covered 10,000kms, only drawbacks: overheating of the braking circuit on the long Alpine roads (SWITZERLAND, ITALY...) and Top case support too fragile (beware of overloading). Horsepower isn't just for speed, but knowing "there's plenty of it under the hood" is part of the immense pleasure of this superbly balanced bike, whether in the mountains or in urban use.... It's also true that this pleasure is very expensive, as are all the brand's parts...Headlight calls (xenon...lol) Rating : 4/5

Good evening motorcyclist friend. There's nothing dishonorable about riding a vintage motorcycle or car, to each his own... I'm neither a bitter old man, nor jealous because I can afford it, nor a RONCHOND (without a D at the end...). The CVs are certainly used to wind on the torque, but the heavier it is, the more you need. My K100 with90 HP winds up perfectly, especially at the speeds we're forced to use! Wait until the "Manu de l'Intérieur" limits the speed to 80 km/h as planned ! With your 6 cyL, 1600 cm" and 150 hp you're going to get bored on the road and play with the selector! Long live the Deauville or the 125 vara. solo... For antiques like the "GALLENE", ONE "L" IS ENOUGH... I concede, without rancor or acrimony, that the K100 in gravel is tough, like all heavy bikes. For the price, BM could have fitted a reverse gear ... on the K16. So much for closing the debate. Close the ban. Motardement vôtre. Rating : 1/5
French Model 2014
Good evening to all. I totally agree with Fishback. Too much horsepower, impossible for the average biker to exploit all this power in such a mass on a road network not especially designed for AND WITHOUT FORGETTING OUR FRIENDS THE BLUES, ALL THE SHIT RADARS AND THE CONTROLS AT ANY TIME. Only concess and insurers win when you see the price of the bowl... My old 1986 K100 RS ( 1000 cc and 90 hp ) and soon 300.000 km are more than enough to tour in a still dynamic way in our good old repressive Europe ... That doesn't stop me from getting flashed from time to time with my old SCUD ... Not to mention the fact that you have to MOVE IT ( no reverse gear ) at a standstill or in a tricky parking space ( crooked, stuck, gravel ... ) the passenger comes into its own ... LOL ... Motardement Vôtre d\'Alsace . A Rating : 1/5

So I guess you also drive a Citroen Traction, because with all those radars etc. etc. etc.... You're a bitter old man, aren't you? Jealous? Horses aren't just for driving fast, they're also for putting less strain on the mechanics, for torque, fuel consumption... When you've got a bike like that, you've got to watch where you park, and I'm not sure your old petoire doesn't pose that kind of problem on gravel too... Admit it! No hard feelings, ronchond! I had a K1600 GTL which I've just exchanged for the Exclusive, and it's really a superb, comfortable, torquey, technologically brilliant bike. I thought the side-start aid was superfluous, but now I can't do without it...and the looks are magnificent...you need to accelerate, there's everything you need...electric windscreen (when you see the Gold riders who still use the manual windscreen...)...this machine has it all! Abundance of goods never could harm.....A j2c Rating : 5/5
