Motorcycle specifications BMWS 1000 RR par PRAEM 2016 The horizon of glories

bMW Motorrad France unveils the BMW S 1000 RR Custom Project prepared by PRAEM. This hypersport bike has been entirely customized by Sylvain and Florent Berneron in homage to the great endurance racing days of the 80s. The perfect link between the worlds of competition and customization.
BMW Motorrad wants to continue opening up new horizons and new territories that speak to all enthusiasts. With the BMW S 1000 RR Custom Project, BMW Motorrad joins forces with PRAEM to remove the boundaries between the world of competition and performance, and that of customization and style. BMW Motorrad means Make Life A Ride. This PRAEM-modified S 1000 RR is the perfect embodiment of this.
While retaining all the S 1000 RR's dynamic qualities and first-rate performance, PRAEM has given it a resolutely vintage yet racing interpretation. The bodywork has been completely redesigned with this in mind: asymmetrical fork head in the spirit of the machines that were prepared for the Suzuka 8hrs, extended original aluminum fuel tank and, of course, a rear shell typical of the era with the battery directly accessible. Numerous details have been added, in a nod to the world of competition: Staubli filler valve and quick-release couplings, Rotobox carbon wheels fitted with carbon ceramic discs, endurance-style water radiator, slick tires and adjustable remote controls from the BMW Motorrad HP range. The titanium exhaust system, with a Werks USA silencer, emits a particularly raucous sound. Of course, as the very essence of the project has a strong racing flavour, the S 1000 RR retains all its technology. Its performance is even higher, thanks not only to the exhaust system and specific mapping, but also to the overall lightening of the chassis: carbon wheels, aluminum rear buckle and titanium bolts and nuts. In fact, the S 1000 RR's weight, already very low from the outset, has been further reduced to just 184 kg fully loaded, a saving of around 20 kg on the scales for this PRAEM version.
Created in collaboration with Derestricted, the paintwork design is also a modern reinterpretation, thanks to a satin finish, of the aesthetic codes of competition vehicles from the 70s and 80s. The color scheme is also a nod to Alexander Calder's Art Car BMW.
BMW thus continues to write the saga of custom BMWs in recent years (Krugger with its "Nurbs" and its in-line 6-cylinder in 2014 crowned Custom Bike World Champion, OSE and their R nine T side car"L'échappée Belle" in 2015, Deus Ex Machina and their S 1000 R prepared for Orlando Bloom, and that's not counting all the preparations made on the basis of the R nine T since its launch: Urban Motor, El Solitario, Blitz Motorcycles, Roland Sands or even Bratstyle, 46Works, Hidemo, Cherrys Company and more recently Clutch Motorcycles. With the BMW S 1000 RR Custom Project by PRAEM, BMW Motorrad continues its commitment to the world of customization with this new proposal that perfectly combines vintage, technology and competition.
Frédéric Stik, General Manager of BMW Motorrad France:"I'm very impressed by the work of Sylvain and Florent at PRAEM. This is the perfect bike that I would have loved to have had when I started riding. Sylvain and Florent have perfectly imagined what would have been the best competition bike of the 80s with the best of today's technology, and transformed the S 1000 RR into a racing machine of that era. All the more so as, thanks to its performance, this bike has a rightful place on today's racetracks.
first of all, it's a fine tribute to BMW Motorrad's DNA, which has always been very active in competition: tourist trophy, speed records, side cars, Paris Dakar, Superbike and Endurance. Secondly, I think this S 1000 RR Custom Project is a real new proposition in the world of customization."
Sylvain Berneron, PRAEM:"This new PRAEM project has me working on a BMW again, and I'm very proud of it. In this kind of approach, it's really important to work freely creatively. Once the main lines of the bike had been defined, Florent and I were very free to explore a new direction with 80s racing while using an ultra-modern base.
PRAEM's philosophy is to use the bases of legendary motorcycles. In my opinion, the BMW S 1000 RR is one of them. It's extraordinary what BMW has been able to do with such a powerful engine, perfectly tamed by electronics and an ultra-honed chassis.
We've tried to retain as much of the on-board technology as possible: DTC traction control, DDC pilot-controlled suspension, Race ABS, launch control... while taking the S 1000 RR into another aesthetic universe...".
That explains this project :) Rating : 5/5 Respond to motocine
