presentation of the XL 883 SPORTSTER 2007
the Sportster in its simplest form, with no options or frills.
the standard version of the Sportster range is the worthy heir to the first model to appear in the range's catalog in 1957: a basic motorcycle, devoid of any optional equipment, designed to offer simplicity and handling to as many people as possible at a moderate price. With no chrome engine, rev counter, two-tone paintwork, large fuel tank or even rear footrests, the bike is sober and simplistic. While this has a real impact on the price and lightness of this entry-level Sportster, it's hard to justify to Madame the purchase of a motorcycle that is originally intended for single-seater use only. The registration document does indeed mention two seats, but the rear footstool and corresponding footrests are optional... an almost imperative option, which unfortunately adds several hundred euros to the bill. On the other hand, we appreciate the integrated siren alarm system, now standard on all models from the US manufacturer, a truly effective feature that often helps reduce insurance premiums.
riding this Sportster, you immediately feel confident, as the bike is so easy to ride and so light. Those accustomed to Softail and other Tourers will often have the impression of taking the controls of a 125 cm3, given the beast's dimensions and measured weight. These qualities are particularly evident in urban use, where its mosquito-like size and lively handling are highly effective in coping with the vagaries of rush-hour traffic. A real pleasure, all the more so as the 'little' 883 is not stingy with low- and mid-range torque, limiting the need to juggle the gearbox. Outside built-up areas, however, the Sportster is less at ease: while it's a pleasure to ride on small, winding roads, its relatively modest power and limited range (12.5-liter fuel tank) make it a distinct handicap on long-distance rides. The 883 Standard remains a basic machine, designed above all for touring, so you can experience the joys of the Harley world without sacrificing all your savings.
to sum up: the 883 Standard's performance isn't revolutionary, and neither is its minimalist equipment. On the other hand, it's inexpensive and very easy to handle, essential qualities for anyone looking for their first Harley or a basis for personal preparation.

Bought used, so can't tell you why, maybe options. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Pedrolito
For the brake disc, it's to say that there aren't two at the front. As for the second seat, yes, it's an option.

It rubs a lot (but I like my rear mudguard almost on the tire), at 130, it screams like the devils from hell (yeah, so what?), it doesn't brake, it slows down (thanks to the boots, just kidding...). But in exchange you get :
-a mythical mill (sound and vibration go hand in hand at HD)
-a unique bike (no one can resist modifying it, it's too easy)
-a magical name (Harley-Davidson, HD, Harley... in any case, it makes you dream)
-a multi-ethnic family (HD family)
-atomic performance (for cruising or wheeling, just ask, anything's possible)
Anyway, enough blah blah. To find out, you've got to try it. What are you waiting for? Rating : 5/5 Respond to DragonManiac

And yet... when it's been a long time since we've seen each other, I realize how much I miss her, and little by little, the urge to look at her, to rediscover her elegant curves, to hear her characteristic poum-poum, to sit on her snazzy saddle and roll irresistibly returns. In terms of maintenance, let's summarize: full tank, oil level check, but rarely topping up, tire pressure, for the maniacs
Service every 8000 kms. And roll on!
In short, an old-fashioned bike, but very reliable and
endearing. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Bigboss
i don't even have a driver's license and I come from harley. I just bought myself a new 883c dark/silver too nice...
the only drawback is the original two-seater seat, which isn't very comfortable for the passenger... so I put on a 1200 seat and a sissy... can't wait for my license.... Rating : 5/5 Respond to tribalhipp
It's my wife's bike
It's fun, a real little pony, especially when you get off the Electra!
It's torquey, not violent, and weaves well between the crates
