Motorcycle specifications Harley-Davidson1584 SOFTAIL BLACKLINE FXS 2013 Savouring expression
presentation of the 1584 SOFTAIL BLACKLINE FXS 2013
still no Twin Cam 103B for the Blackline, while the States are entitled to this big 1690 cm3. Explanation: the 2013 model is a carried-over 2011 vintage. It's obviously necessary to clear stocks before importing the latest version. French customers won't yet be able to sample the 103 ci, or the magnificent 'Hard Candy Coloma Gold Flake' glitter color, but that's no reason to look away from the FXS.
with its name slamming down like a dull rain over Los Angeles, the Blackline is made to seduce rebels and lovers of the beautiful and the simple. Even if the machine is not lacking in elegance, it doesn't shine in originality. Yet Harley unabashedly claims that the Blackline is a custom inspired by the foundations of motorcycling, stripped down to the bare essentials, with the minimalist styling of post-war Bobbers... In short, the same rhetoric used for every new so-called 'authentic' model. You'd almost wonder why this model is so close in spirit and aesthetic to the Street Bob. But here's the trick: it's not a Dyna, but a Softail. And there hasn't been a model this sleek in this range since the demise of the Night Train.
with its deceptively rigid frame, the Blackline boasts an even sleeker rear end.e, especially since the minimalist mudguard has done away with the headlight (the philosophy of the Sportster 1200 Nighster and 48). Simplistic, this HD focuses on the essential: its engine. The Twin Cam 96 B, despite its deep black paintwork, makes no effort to be discreet - quite the contrary. Its polished cylinder heads, large chrome air filter cover and unmistakable 'Shotgun' bevelled, torpedo-launched exhausts instantly condition the rider towards the essentials: pure style and a big mouth.
as you'd expect, the Blackline joins Milwaukee's Dark Customs family. As such, it features black paint in many places: frame, headlight, mudguards, cylinder head covers, crankcases, wheels, fork crowns and forks, etc... The chrome is all the more striking.
To get the most out of this Softail, you don't have to get on, you have to get off. Extraordinarily low in the saddle (660 mm), this custom offers the lowest seat height in the manufacturer's range; and to think that the Sportster SuperLow had made great efforts to become as accessible as possible. Agility shouldn't be a problem, thanks to the slim 144 mm rear tire. Then, all that's left to do is experience the road with the wind in your teeth, firmly clinging to the SplitDrag handlebars, feet well forward and bones finely shaken by the 1584 cm3 silent-block-mounted 'Hardtail'-style frame. A small regret, as a machine so typical of the genre would deserve to live with a little more dryness and character in its lungs, by adopting the 96 without balancer and rigidly fixed.

Recently added 2-in-1 Redthunder (Euro 3 approved, even more flexible and powerful....Super Harley, but still far too heavy. And lots of options to make it super. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Biker 41
Small correction to the article: the engine is rigidly mounted in the frame, hence the presence of a balancer to limit vibrations. Rating : 5/5 Respond to sporty
