presentation of the 1870 ROAD GLIDE ULTRA FLTRU 2019
As one of the most imposing vessels in Harley-Davidson's Touring range, the Road Glide Ultra is entitled to a few privileges. The most important is undoubtedly the adoption of the M8 114 ci engine block (since 2019) in its Twin-Cooled version. The muscle that now drives this behemoth is commensurate with Harley's ambitions. Wattage, torque and modernity. True to tradition, this imposing powerplant features two cylinders arranged in a 45° V-shape. Engineers have worked to give it more than just metal and fins. The cylinder heads house 4 valves per cylinder, as well as two spark plugs to optimize combustion. With 1868 cm3 and part-liquid cooling, a host of improvements and improved breathing, this ninth-generation "big block" propels the Road Glide Ultra with fresh vigor.
a few figures? Let's take a look at the torque, which is 1.2 mkg more than the M8 107 that powered it not so long ago; that's 16.7 mkg at just 3,000 rpm. A powerful, well-bred block. A balance shaft reduces idle vibrations by 75%, while maintaining the pulse and character typical of Harleys. To find out more about the Milwaukee Eight engine, click here ->.
The MoCo also enhances ride comfort with new Showa suspensions. The fork is more efficient and the damping more stable. The rear amortos are no longer of the air-suspension generation. Using emulsion and simplified adjustment, they ensure that a constant preload is maintained.

What's in the Rushmore project already? Testimonials, opinions and ideas from thousands of Harley users, followed by concrete applications. A number of models, including the 1745 Road Glide Ultra, benefit from these. These include Reflex brakes, a 49 mm foam fork, lightweight Impeller aluminum wheels, improved dashboard graphics and controls, and cruise control.
On the entertainment side, the Boom Box 6.5 GT system has been upgraded to the GTS level. H-D retains the large 16.5 cm touchscreen, but doubles its resolution, improves contrast and makes it virtually unbreakable. After several years of user experience, the system is now simpler, more intuitive and, above all, much faster. Apple CarPlay compatibility is introduced. The driver always has a choice of radio, GPS, music playback via USB port, MP3, SD Card, iPhone/iPod - and sends it all to you either via Bluetooth, or through 100 w of power in 4 13.34 cm speakers.
comfort plays an important role on this bike. The rider benefits from a revised seat and higher handlebars than on the Road Glide Special. Far from being forgotten, the passenger benefits from a backrest, armrests and a seat that's 25 mm longer and wider than on the FLTRXS. The Tour-Pak offers 4% more capacity and opens and closes via a single OneTouch lock, as do the suitcases and fuel filler flap.
The machine is imposing, and requires a certain financial commitment. After all, as Harley says:"They cross two borders before lunch..."
