presentation of the 1870 FREEWHEELER FLRT 2019
the Tri Glide Ultra is no longer alone on the "factory" trike market. It's been joined by a sibling, but in a much wilder way. If the Tri Glide Ultra smells of pleasure, the Freewheeler smells of hot rod. A much lighter machine in every respect: sleeker lines, 57 kilos less weight, and a price cut of almost 7,000 euros. The two machines are distinguished by their two-wheel rear axles, but their vision of the road is markedly different.
like its predecessor, the Freewheeler is powered by a Milwaukee Eight twin. No liquid cooling for the cylinder heads, but the essentials are there: large cubic capacity with the Milwaukee Eight twin, 4 valves and 2 spark plugs for each cylinder, sufficient power and torque that rips. For 2019, this'hybrid' machine is in MoCO's good graces. Engine-wise, it goes up a notch with the 114 ci version. All the figures are up: 1868 cm3 of metal, 16.5 mkg of torque. To ensure that the dynamics can cope with all this, this trike adopts the new'Reflex' interconnected brake system including ABS, a traction control system (TCS), a torque control system (DSCS) and connected front/rear braking. Handling should be more efficient with Premium suspensions taken from the Touring range; and easier to adjust for preload.
in addition to the possibility of "flat turning", the Freewheeler allows B license holders to experience new sensations. Hair and teeth in the wind, hands gripping the Mini-Apehanger handlebars and the pulse of the American twin. It's easy to imagine a duo, and the trunk is just the thing. It holds two helmets. Available for several years in the States, the machine arrived in France at the same time as the M8 engine. They're sure to stand out from the crowd, and bring a different view of the road to those who ride them.
