presentation of the XPulse 200 Pro 2026
The second Hero model to hit our shores, the Xpulse 200 4v Pro is the kind of little machine that’s ready to tackle any challenge with ease. A complete contrast to those big, ultra-expensive, ultra-premium SUVs where you can’t even scratch a side mirror, this Indian trail bike is a workhorse that can traverse fields and city streets alike, even on the world’s worst roads—as long as you’re not in a hurry.
Because Indian drivers don’t really see the roads… Or rather, they don’t experience them the way we do: short, meandering routes reveal deteriorated surfaces, with paved roads and dirt tracks (or even both) alternating randomly, cows wandering aimlessly, and vehicles going every which way… The Xpulse 200 Pro wasn’t just designed for this kind of challenge—it’s had plenty of time to put it through its paces before arriving here. Just think: it’s been crisscrossing the countryside of its home country since 2019.
It’s a huge hit over there, especially since the bike does everything you ask of it. It doesn’t matter that its single-cylinder engine only puts out 19 chevaux, since it’s practically suicidal to ride fast in this country of 1,500 million inhabitants.
Adapting to local customs… or the other way around
In our part of the world, however, the mix is different. Barely bigger and sturdier than a 125 cc, this engine requires you to get a license. Especially since, once you have your A2 license—which is limited to 47.5 ch—you’d need a hell of a lot of motivation to settle for less than half that power. What’s more, the 200 and 300 models haven’t been very successful in France in the past. It wasn’t until the 400 came along that small-displacement bikes really caught on.
But let’s not be too quick to write it off. With its small engine, the Xpulse 200 won’t go fast, but you’ll want to ride it all the time. Its basic technology (air- and oil-cooled, single overhead cam, 5-speed transmission) simplifies maintenance, while the features are impressive for its class. Judge for yourself: 3-mode ABS (Road / Offroad / Rally), Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, full LED lighting, crash bars, hand guards, a small luggage rack, engine skid plate, and a kickstarter in case the electric starter fails.

Its main strength is its off-road capability. The Hero is a true trail bike, the kind that loves to eat dirt through its fenders. It proves it and boasts it with long suspension travel (250 mm front / 220 mm rear), generous ground clearance of 270 mm, a 21-inch front wheel, spoked rims, narrow tires with deep tread, and a reasonable weight (nothing to write home about). In short, a bike that can ride straight through Grenoble and then across the Vercors at a steady pace. No more road? That’s when the Xpulse 200 Pro really starts to have fun.
You, on the other hand, might not be quite as thrilled when it comes time to hop on. Off-road capabilities come at a price—in this case, the seat height, which is 891 mm—that’s high!
Better than a 125 for less
The other eye-popping factor is the price. 3,000 bucks for this 200 isn’t expensive. Even a 125 struggles to get down to that price point. Its specs make it a suitable machine for beginners and some fun in the countryside. However, the Xpulse seems to have left one factor out of its calculations: it’s not in Calcutta, and it’s a stretch to think the market will go for it.

At half the price of a Honda CRF 300 L, it’ll be an excellent second bike—so you don’t have to take your GS out every day—or for someone who wants a small bike to ride and have fun in the countryside. I can’t wait to try it out. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Motard11
