presentation of the NC 750 X 2024
the Honda NC750X is the perfect urban tool... for the biker who doesn't want to end up on a scooter. But to reduce it to that would be a mistake! Because it has a much greater range of action. Above all, it remains a very easy and pleasant motorcycle to ride. With its trail bike look, without being a trail bike, the NC 750 X, the two-wheeled counterpart of what we call crossovers in cars, is a simple, efficient motorcycle, perfectly in tune with the times.
released in 2012 in 700 cm3, over the years it has seen its displacement rise to 745 cm3 (2014) and its silhouette gain in sex appeal (2016). In 2021, it gets another facelift, with an ever more dynamic silhouette thanks to a new bodywork that incorporates LED headlights, taillights and indicators. The windscreen, which unfortunately still cannot be adjusted, even manually, has been redesigned to offer greater protection.
the eight-valve vertical twin is now rated at 58.55 hp at 6,750 rpm, instead of 55 hp at 6,250 rpm. Meanwhile, the red zone threshold has been moved back 6000 rpm to 7,000 rpm, offering a little more of the elongation it lacked at the outset. The NC750X also features ride-by-wire throttle control, offering three different riding modes: standard, sport and rain. These affect power delivery, engine braking and the level of torque control (HSTC). A programmable user mode is also available.
With its modest power output and natural balance, you'd think this would be superfluous. Nevertheless, it's not uncommon on long-distance journeys to encounter particularly greasy and slippery surfaces. Similarly, in the countryside, when autumn arrives, the roads are very often covered by the mud left by the tractors that come straight out of the fields onto the track. Wherever you are, there are numerous traps that make grip precarious. So it makes sense to be able to adapt the character of your bike, even if it's not a 200hp sports bike.
the good news is that this 4th-generation NC750X benefits from a complete overhaul of its tubular steel frame and slimming down of the engine, for a total weight loss of 6 kg. The result is a lower center of gravity, which should make maneuvering at low speeds even easier. Combined with reduced suspension travel, which drops to 120 mm at both front and rear, from 153 mm at the front and 150 mm at the rear, the NC750X also gains in ease of access and grip. The seat height increases from 830 mm to 800 mm.
on the practical side , because this bike is devilishly practical, the judicious front trunk, which takes its place just in front of the rider's seat, in place of the traditional fuel tank, gains one liter of capacity, its volume increasing from 22 to 23 liters, allowing a full-face helmet to be accommodated without worry. The NC750X also gets a new LCD instrument panel.
last but not least, the NC750X is of course still available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or DCT, Honda's famous dual-clutch transmission for automated gear shifting. It's worth noting that on both versions, the first three gears are closely spaced for greater responsiveness in town. And clutch lever effort has been reduced by 20% on the mechanical gearbox version.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 22 reviews
otherwise, this bike is a pure pleasure to ride. it's a real shame that the suspension panel dulls the dynamic ride. i've added a higher bubble deflector for less noise and turbulence. bonne route à tous et raisonnables. MS Rating : 2/5 Respond to dingo
The drawbacks: - Original or high honda bubbles don't protect anything, buy an extension or another model - Seat needs to be changed for touring, it's a real pain - Handlebars much too low (me: 1.8m), which makes them unsuitable for touring. Handlebar riser difficult or impossible to install, cables too short, thanks to honda. After all, fuel consumption, engine pleasure and relative agility don't make me regret my purchase. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Eric Plongeur
In addition to the top case and the two side cases, the trunk allowed me to load a lot of stuff. What's more, the accessibility of the "tank" trunk means that you can put things in and take things out without getting off the bike. Very practical.
The 750cc isn't very powerful, but the torque makes up for it and makes it a really pleasant bike to ride on small roads. The power-to-weight ratio isn't much higher than that of the CB500X, but the torque makes all the difference, giving it considerably more "oomph" than the 500. Fuel consumption is very reasonable.
Handling is decent.
Braking is adequate, but the riding position didn't really suit me (I'm 1.93m tall). My legs were a little too bunched up, and my knees were too high in relation to the recesses where my legs would fit. I felt we were in an intermediate trail/road riding position, with the torso rather straight but the legs more flexed. The original saddle is comfortable.
The low bubble deflects air into the helmet, increasing wind noise and air pressure on the helmet, with increased cervical strain.
A nice, practical motorcycle that would need a higher bubble for those who want to ride the highway regularly. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Spilvan
For this reason, I still prefer the previous version, with a perfectly adequate engine and better suspension. I'll wait for the next version... maybe? V Rating : 3/5 Respond to Pec
Otherwise, trigger shifting is very close to the shifter feel, and lets you adjust your gears as you like.
Fitted with an ermax high bubble that's a little more aerodynamic than the original, and an ixrace line, the bike is magical, agile and very responsive. You feel at ease and confident. I'm 1.95m tall, and the seat is just right, but very comfortable, so you can easily envisage a 3-4 hour ride. The only downside is that it could have done with 20 or 30 mm more.
I've read everywhere that it's not intended for sporty riding, but then, we must not be looking at the same bike. With my configuration (black ermax sport bubble, deflectors + ixrace line and short plate support), the bike behaves as it looks. It's responsive, asking for more and more in sport mode, and at 4500 rpm it unleashes all its torque, and then it's magic. Once again, the only downside: a single front disc? Honestly, I think this bike is way underpriced. It's complete, it does everything well. It's a real Swiss Army knife, with a real touch of sportiness when you make it purr a little. Rating : 4/5 Respond to moha_zella
This bike is very pleasant from many points of view ,center of gravity , very good Showa SDBV fork ,handling , fuel consumption ,DCT gearbox is a delight ,road holding if you change tires (forget the original Dunlop) it's true that it's slightly lacking a double front disc , but the single 320 mm disc does the job , its engine is torquey (the same as a Tracer 700) with less HP, but when you go too fast in a bend, no matter what the cubic capacity, you go too fast (La palisse), so there's plenty of fun to be had with this machine too, without comparisons with more "energetic" bikes: a Bi 750 will always have watts. The bubble isn't really effective (no big deal), and the seat height is more for everyone. Like all motorcycles, you need to know how to use it, and try it out on real kilometers before you can make any informed criticism. Rating : 4/5 Respond to serge
Very low fuel consumption.
But please don't put a lower seat height in the +.
A low seat height is ONLY a plus for short riders. For taller riders, it's a big minus.
I loved the earlier version of this machine, except for two things. I tested a DCT version and lowered it to 800mm.
I didn't like the DCT, but I especially hated the seat height. I really hated it (at 1m85, 800mm gives you the impression of having your knees in your elbows after 30 kilometers)
Now it's standard. And here I was thinking that if one day I had to replace my V-Strom, I could opt for an NC! Thank you Honda for this "gift" Rating : 4/5 Respond to Meta
it's mentioned in your test that the bike had a mechanical gearbox and a dct gearbox, unfortunately no mechanical gearbox in sight in france, too bad Rating : 5/5 Respond to pascal 21
Too bad Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
Replaces my old NC 700 X from 2012, the same but better (apart from a few points)
- The + : More powerful engine, impeccable DCT gearbox, nice look, good seat height
- The minus: Suspension lacks travel (easily tailgates), trunk a little larger but less practical (depth), lighting nil (borderline dangerous in corners), minimalist windscreen
Otherwise, it's a reasonable bike that fits within my means
The best price/performance/reliability/polyvalence compromise for daily use, vacations, leisure, duo, etc..
The same model with a more protective fairing would be the best. Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
