presentation of the MSX 125 Grom 2025
Honda has always cultivated a universally recognized image of quality, high standards and reliability. As a result, when you're looking for a fun machine, Honda isn't necessarily the first choice. And yet, its catalog includes three of the most unconventional machines around: the Monkey, the Dax and the MSX. It's the latter that's getting a facelift for 2025.
No revolution, but a well-placed facelift. The tank panels have been simplified and revitalized, while the triangular plates under the seat have been replaced by small covers. These new surfaces offer more space and freedom for visual expression.
The Grom's construction scheme is as customizable as ever... or rather, easy to customize, thanks to its easy-to-remove cover, which makes it easier to decorate or rework each element. The new silhouette is accompanied by the addition of an engine cowling, giving it a fuller belly without making it any heavier.
Inside, we find the familiar 125 engine. Still rated at around ten horsepower, it has appreciated the adoption of a 5-speed gearbox in 2021. Power may seem modest compared to some production models, but it makes for a small, light and mischievous machine. As a result, it's impossible to get bored in the fun environments it's designed for. Its fuel consumption is ridiculous, and it feels capable of exceeding 90 km/h.
No changes to the chassis. The "Mini Street X-treme" relies on a steel backbone accompanied by a 31 mm upside-down fork and monoshock. With its small 12-inch wheels, 103 kg weight and mini 1200 mm wheelbase, agility is second to none. Braking is simple but sufficient, with a 220 mm front disc clamped by a 2-piston caliper. The rear uses a single piston for the 190 mm disc. Surprisingly refined, an inertial control unit manages ABS efficiency.
For the first time, the MSX 125 comes with its own collection of accessories. With its windscreen, 10-liter saddlebags, handguards, package holder and saddlebag, there's enough to make a funny little devil.
